  1. Psychological scares are hard to pull off at times and you don't want to screw up the moment. One of the best psychological scares example is probably having the player in a level that's all dark and you expect a jump-scare or a monster itself. Sound effects in that map are good since the player now expect to see a monster or creature. However since you haven't evented anything to scare the player just yet. The player grows more desperate if the monster is going to scare him or not. But still nothing this creates an illusion to the player and starts to imagine monsters and start shooting at random things. another perfect example is having mirrors in a game. The player feels weird seeing the main character in the mirror and expect to see something. the effect here is that mirrors could be part of a puzzle and the player just sees themselves doing actions like pushing boxes and still seeing themselves in the mirror and when you less expect it bam! scare here.
  2. If you have a facebook account or something like that please like this page. i want the game to have a bigger audiance and have awareness. if i get more like i'll start to release actual screenshots and gameplay videos. Please support me at: https://www.facebook.com/RepercussionsGame
  3. Let me rephrase that. Creating simple scares are easy. However creating complex scares are quite the task and It's not just creating just a jumpscare. What i tried aiming at was scaring the player psychologically, mess with the player and maybe break the 4th wall.
  4. I heavily play horror games and i played so much horror games that to be honest no horror game scare me now. I really dislike that developers use the same formula again and again. I was developing a horror game but after revising the gameplay. I found out that it was just some casual horror game i just made and there's too much predictable things in-game. So instead of quitting on the project i focused on story, character progression, and a dark and depressing atmosphere. however there's still horror elements intact and re-making them is quite a task. for me horror has died in the early 2000's and nothing more. There's nothing out there that scares me.
  5. Censoring in the net is more bad then good. It's still unbelievable that your so called government make an excuse that censoring the internet will be better to protect the younger generation. C'mon wake up It's a way to control information worldwide. Thanks to the internet information has flowed much more better then any News netowrk on T.V. Censoring the net is bad for gamers also. Because government has the power to censor downloads too. So if you're like polraudio who buys 100 of games on steam he won't be able to download it because the government can say f**k you. Download interrupted.
  6. I'm back on track with game developing. Please support me by liking my facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/RepercussionsGame

  8. I've been diagnosed with severe depression. Many people say that why am i so sad about. So i went to re-develop my game's ending and made it so depressing, it felt so satisfying and at the same time what i feel right now.

Remember: "No matter how dark the night, morning always comes." Just hang in there. Don't let the Dementor that's following you win.

Hold on to this and you'll be fine! I also went through the situation that you have gone through and i found what Bob said above is true. "

  9. Uhhh...It's Debate and Mature Discussion forum not Debate and Mature discussion topic. We're not talking anything inappropriate here. nothing to 18+ so your fine to talk about censorship. if there's anything more mature we mods will actually hide it from younger people. Anyway Censorship is should be done in Online Video games. because Kids these days swear more then me. I'll talk more about censorship later i want to see what other people think about it.
  10. Well my real name is Alex. But use my second name which is Omar and everyone calls me that so i got used to it. the Five-ten was because i was in clan in an MMO and we called ourself the five-ten. i don't know why :P But i did have a real username which was Sonichunter if anyone had question about my username originality. I decided to use my real name because Carpe Diem (YOLO)
  11. Wait your THE Yggdrasil? the guy who created the combat system for VX? or am i just confusing you for someone else? Anyway Welcome to GDU (Game Development Unlimited) Please enjoy your stay! Our community is so helpful here so any request or something we're here to help :D
  12. @heretic About the Thread closing discussion. Mark and the whole team were asked to not close topics for a reason. However it doesn't mean that you have to say that we moderators enforce the rules about an extremely outdated topic. I had PMs of other users forgiving for "their" ignorance of not knowing the rules. As a Moderator I do not blame them and I often tell them about making a new topic about it. But most people are just lazy to make a new topic anyways. As a moderator I enforce the rules to keep the community clean and open. It is my responsibility after all. This ends the discussion about the closing of topics. Any more complaints about topic closure please create a topic about it. Thank you Heretic :)
  13. You are a designer, you just don't accept to be one.
  14. Well as Polraudio said, it's Bland and Grey. Which is not my kind of taste in design. However it's a bit more user friendly. Now i don't need to scroll all the way up to global search something or to get to the games section. Cheers to that! Also take a good look at the site it may surprise you. ;)
  15. You guys still brainstorming names for jewelry? I got a few Virtual-gem Jewel Haven eJewels Virtual Joya (Jewels in spanish) Bright Emerald Jewels Unlimited (Oh silly me) I was thinking in others but they're just as silly. such as Marked Gem :P
  16. Most of the times i'd come in to the forums using my smartphone. The main reason i use my phone over the PC is that many times i find myself away from my PC. I go to many places like a cafe or a friends house. And since i'm a moderator i need to "moderate" the forums; keep them clean. Now that's not the problem. My problem is that i can't seem to see the profile pictures or names on my phone. So most of the time i don't know who posted in that specific topic because i can't see any names or a profile picture.
  17. LOL you don't really need a script for a sandstorm effect. you can do it with a bit of knowledge
  18. @Zahraa I did read your previous post but i'm not in into RPG Maker XP's battlesystems that much as there's only one I use. So pardon me :P However you seem to not express your problem correctly. Bob in the previous post seem not to quite understand you and neither do i. @Bob I do understand that her english isn't her first language but we have to do our best to understand her needs. English is my first language then comes Spanish and Italian and I fail writing correctly in these three languages. Back on topic. @Zahraa What is your native language? Anyway could you please express your problem with more words and patiently? We two are having a hard time understanding your problem.
  19. Come to think of it. Polraudio probably does have a stronger right arm. No wonder Marks calls him Pervy Polraudio.
  20. What? First of all the battle system. How is it. Is it a turn based battlesystem (like final fantasy). Because I see it as a simple problem. Could you prove us some screenshots of the problem and the scirpt?
  21. If I could change my forum name. I wouldn call myself Lockey because I love locking topics.

Naw, I'm not power hungry. I always wanted to close Forums. And I'll never use the banhammer because i'm to pussy to ban people. That's why always try and control the situation before it gets out of hand.

  22. No it's cooked correctly, my problem is that it takes time to cut it into pieces. :/
  23. THAT'S IMPOSIBRU! I tried to do that once.
  24. FINALLY! Good to see a demo on the page :D Small Review on "IT MOVES" For a demo that lasts for less then an hour i found myself satisfied with the Game's Atmosphere which for me is superb in a 2D game. Few Games tend to get the atmosphere dull and depressing. The Map design is an eyecandy and shows that the map design in ACE isn't crappy after all. However there's some flaws in the map design. There's invisable coliders in the map design and it makes movement quite a pain at times. Another thing i think the game needs work on is in the Audio design. While the Background Music is decent the sound effects isn't. As a true fan of horror games i tend to play horror games on max Volume....i felt that the sound effects make the game jumpscares flop at times. While there's some good sound in the game it doesn't match up to the game's atmophere most of the time. The gameplay is really simple and mostly linear. However there's puzzles on each level but the puzzle design is somehow lacking creativity as the puzzles are really easy to solve and took me under a minute to resolve. Another thing i enjoyed is the graphics. the sprites are well done and decent most of the times. there's no flaw in these sprites and i love em. and lastly the Game story/plot. after playing this short demo the story somehow resulted in a cliche, sadly the game fails to be somehow a bit more original. However the In-game Narrative is fantastic, reading the text is like reading a real horror story. the story switches to a First Person prepect of storytelling where i felt that i was the character doing his every move and emotion. This is a great game with good ideas but with some problems in it's way.. I do acknowlage that this is a demo and everything may change in the future. I would give this game a 8.5 out of 10.
