I'd like to see the site stay online. If i ever get my game done in the forseeable future, I'd like everyone to see it at some point. -
I think that would help, although it's hard for me to get any work done when i work almost 13 hours a day for 6 days and i only get 11 hours for sleep in between those days. im not trying to make excuses just in my line of work its hard for other activities when more than 50% of your day is work.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. When i get closer to a beta I will take these into consideration. For now, i just need to keep building. My maps aren't anywhere near done yet. I still have a lot to do, and I feel I'll never finish them at the rate I'm going.

Ok, another issue I've run into. One of my biggest problems in building games, (I've built more than one, but never finished any of them) other than mapping is figuring out the difficulty curve. How do you guys do it? Do you try to make the enemies gradually harder in such a way that the end user doesn't notice, or do you make the difficulty per area more noticeable? What i'm trying to avoid in my game is sections of the game where enemies are relatively easy then an instant jump in difficulty so noticeable it's like being slapped in the face. Any advice? BTW, I might be releasing a demo sometime next month, meaning May. I'm trying to finish the maps so I can start work on the structure of the game.

I did manage to figure out the map for the river. Thanks for the input. I'm going to be building a new thread when I get relatively close to a demo.

I am having a problem with one of my maps in my game. In one scene in my game, the player has to row across a river to safety. The problem I'm having is i can't find a way to make the river realistic. Right now it looks like it's a small stream in between a sidewalk. Any advice to make it more realistic would be greatly appreciated.

The longest i've ever stayed awake was 50 hours. When i was in college, i had a long paper I had to write for a class that i waited until the last minute to do. I somehow managed to write 20 pages in that time, hand it in to my professor on time and still failed. How you might ask? I had two papers to write, one i got done the day before, and both were due on the same day. I handed in the wrong paper to the wrong class. So I failed two classes. I was so upset, i went to bed in my dorm at 1pm that afternoon, and didn't wake up again until 9am the next day. My roommate at the time was a bit of a jerk, so when i wasn't moving the next morning, i woke up to him shouting across the halls "hey guess who finally died in here?" to which i suddenly woke up and punched him in the back of the head and stating, "Do i look dead to you jackass?" I ended up failing out of college as a result of that mistake, the guy i punched out ended up in jail, and now i'm an outcast in my family for being the only one not to have a college degree. Well that was way more than i wanted to say, but there it is.

The way you phrased it is exactly what happened. And I've tried other game pages and they load fine, so I think it's a problem unique to my game page, but I have no idea how this could've happened, and I don't know how to show archived blog posts. -
I'm trying to get my blog post noticed on my game page, but every time i try to load it through the main page the public can see, the browser keeps crashing. I have to exit and restart again. I have no idea what i did wrong, and no one can see it.

This is the wrong place for this probably, but could there be a way we could make those supporter banner I see everywhere within the site instead of using an outside source? I see them on a lot of people's signatures but I can't figure out how to make them. -

you post a game page for your game in progress, and no one even acknowledges it? I must admit, posting a page in the proper forum for my game a month ago, and no responses doesn't really give me a lot of confidence to pursue development. It's frustrating really. You go through the effort to make a post to advertise your game, you put it up, and no one replies to it or makes any mention of if the idea's good or anything (over 1000 views have been recorded on my post though). What I'm trying to ask here, is if you make a game post and no one replies to it, is that a sign the idea is bad and further development is in vain, or am I being paranoid and a lack of response to my game post is nothing to worry about? I haven't done major work on the game recently because of real life, but I will get back to it at some point in February. BTW if you haven't seen it yet, its Project Talquin in the early in development forum.

I don't know where else this goes, but I'll post it here. There is a point in my game where several branches for a short time can happen depending on a couple of factors, including day of the week. I am curious as to if there is such a function to allow RPG Maker to check the day of the week via system time, and if so, to execute certain events based on what is found. If this isn't possible, I will just find a different method. Probably variables instead. This is for RPG Maker VX Ace. I hope I'm not vague in my question here, if so, I will try to clarify.

Thank you. I know both of you are trying to help me and I appreciate it very much. After looking back at some of the other projects i've done and what was accomplished in them, I think it's safe to say in my opinion, mapping is my weakest area, and eventing might be my best area, though that's questionable. My game thread i posted in the game development area will be updated in due time with updated maps, which hopfully will be better than what i've shown so far. I am taking time away from this for awhile because I'm getting promoted at my full time job, and I don't know if i'll have time to do this in between my sudden increase in workload. I'll see though -

let me ask you guys something. I know i'm not the best at mapping. if i screw up the maps badly, will that end up being the only thing talked about, and nothing else, story, other nick nacks, etc would be completely ignored? I do not wish for my game to be chastised solely based on how the maps look. I do believe this is the best and easiest way for me to tell the story i want to tell but I'm starting to wonder if all of my effort so far is for naught if my maps are as bad as it has been stated. -

Thank you both for your criticism. I wish to address each of the maps with my own reasoning, in the hopes of clearing up some confusion. Luna Village: I'm confused here. Ardaceus said the map looks generic, but Pol, you state it's ok given I fix the flaws with it, which i will. Also for the gap I was using autotiles for that. I'll try to think of a better way. And i know i'm missing doors. I have hardly any interiors to link the doors too. House: both of you missed my footnote on this one. I deleted this map from my game. I had posted it here to ask if my judgement was correct in getting rid of it. obviously it was. the new version is getting worked on. Armory. that's a very old map. I was hesitant to redo it, but I guess i have to. Lab: Its supposed to be a hospital, with a side lab for creating new medicines. This is an older beta of the lab before i changed it. cafe: horrible mistake on my part to even post that. i know it's bad, and i have no excuse pub: i have no explanation for this one. meaning i can't think of any reason why that one is designed the way it is. i just have no argument for it I must ask though, for my game, it's really the story that i believe is the driving force behind the idea i have. If my mapping skills are distracting so much from the story, is there a point at all for me to even continue?
