Considering I'm not the best at mapping, I was looking for a thread where I could post my screenshots and have someone look at them and critique how well i'm doing. Not having any such luck, save for one old thread where someone tried to make a big thread where you post screens and critique others. That one didn't go very well, so I wish to try again here. Requirements: I shouldn't have to have a section for this, but I saw a couple issues in my searches and I want to address them here. 1. When you want to have a map critiqued, don't make us download your game to find said map and critique it that way. Just take a screencap (print screen on pc's or mac equivalent works fine) and use your favorite image editing software to edit it to your liking. 2. Screenshots should be large enough for us to actually see what you're trying to show. No thumbnails please. 3. Constructive criticism only. Saying something like 'oh that's really good' or 'that's bad' and nothing else doesn't help the person who made the map. Also any obscene or vulgar posts will be reported(not a mod so I can't delete them on the spot). NO EXCEPTIONS Screenshots And now, for my screenshots. I might be able to make something then. I can't take off work that weekend, but I might be able to squeeze in something. Question: if we are using paid dlc, can we purchase that ahead of time, or do we have to wait for the start time of the contest to do so? I just want to know if it's ok, that i've already started writing the story, since i was going to build it anyway.

BTW, if anyone is interested in my latest project, I have put a project topic in the early in development forum. Please critique my maps i put in. Mapping I don't think is my strongest suit, so any help to improve them, will be greatly appreciated.

Ugh. well unfortunutly i won't be able to participate. But i would like to judge. I remember trying to do a variation on this but making it a month long. I actually tried that on my own one time. Not very good results.

I'm lost. There's a possibility in my game I will have to go beyond the level 99 cap the engine of RPG Maker VX Ace allows. I'm trying to find the script that handles that, but I'm having no luck. And the RPG help files aren't helping either. Could someone help me figure this out please?

This is a lottery system for one of my games that I've been spending a lot of time trying to get right. After several incarnations, I finally got it to a point where I think it works. I have decided to share this with the community, so you can use it in your games as well. This system was created using only events. No scripting was done to make this. Let me know what your guys think of what I did with it. Features 4 different games to play, Low, Medium, High, and Jackpot. Each game gives out different payouts depending on what you play and what you match. Varying payouts. You never win the same amount twice when playing the same game, unless you match one or all 5 numbers. Jackpot mode allows a lot of money to be had if you play the right numbers. Critisim is welcome. This might not fit here, and I apologize if it doesn't, but I have a special request. I am in the process of building a game with a long since built idea which I've turned into what I believe to be the best rendition I could think of. I have a script (meaning screenplay, not a ruby script) finished for the main story, and I wish to request someone proofread it. I am basically looking for the following: Does the screenplay make sense? Do I describe my world well enough that you are not left scratching your head? Is it easy to follow? I'm trying to achieve a rich history with potential for multiple games within the universe I've made. Does anyone wish to proofread my script?

I did a long time ago. Search the forums for "Knight Academy" If it hasn't been deleted, that's the only game I've posted here. There are two more I'm working on now, as well as one text-based game that is not appropriate for this forum, and I'm also working on an addon for an old PC game called Microsoft Train Simulator. Needless to say, I have a lot on my plate, but for now, all of that is getting the backburner because of a very important promotion in my full time job. I basically posted my return here to let you guys know I'm returning and will have hopefully new stuff to show in the near future, if my schedule allows it. I remember you too. I'm glad to see you're still active here.

It's been a few years, as I've had to take time away from making games to focus on my personal life, as I was doing this as an excuse instead of actually doing something with my life. But I am returning now after being gone for a while, with the hope I can finish the games I've been keeping on the back burner forever.

I hate windows 8's idea of the start menu. Why have a whole screen reminiscent of a touch screen for a phone? i'm not using a phone, i'm using a laptop where i want a list, not a screen filled with boxes that have no relevence to me.

That might actually be a better idea than trying to enlarge text solely on one website. Thanks for the tip, i didn't know you could zoom into a webpage in that way.

something minor i hope. the main forum page, the main page where all the different forums are, the text seems way too small. others might be able to read it, but i have bad eyesight. any chance you could increase the size or have some feature where the user could increase the size?

I saw your invitation in the article thread i just finished reading, and while i am humbled at the idea of learning the intricacies of RPG, i'm afraid our engines don't match. You state you train using XP, I build games using ACE. Not entirely sure what kind of plans you had, if you can still work with me despite the different engines, because i had some experience in XP, even though i never finished a game with it, I have found ACE to be the holy grail for me with a gaming engine.

I agree with this article completely. it has outlined my own experiences as well. though i do wish i wasn't ignored so much. I don't intend on doing this for a living, as i am only a hobbyist for something like this. On the other hand, getting some recognition for the work that is done would be nice once in a while. i have been discouraged before about my skills, such as bad mapping skills, unorganized messes of games. when your faced with criticisms like that, it's pretty hard not to feel like you shouldn't be trying this. i have felt that way many times. and i have constantly been unable to complete projects because of that. but i hope to complete my new game idea despite those who wish to insult my intelligence and claim i can't do anything. except unlike some other new members, i finally figured out why i get such remarks. i post about my games too soon. i make a post, then i don't have anything solid to show for it. that will be fixed at some point, though i'm sure no one will pay attention to my post as usually most of the time no one does anyway. one gets used to being ignored after awhile and the hope anyone will bother reading or paying attention to what you have to say disappears. as such i fully expect this post to get lost and forgotten.

Ok, even though i said i was going to wait until august to get some serious progress going on the game, i've been fiddling with what i want to use as a battle system. i'm not changing the default battle system, i'll probably break it before making it better, instead trying to take my command an army to heart with this first effort into trying something different. http://www.mediafire.com/?dxpz3t8h2i5dcq9 few notes, i know the map is awful, it won't be in the final game, i just needed something to have my characters on so i didn't have to look at a black screen. player 3 and 4 options are not functional. i have spent the last week just getting player 2 option working right, and it's still not done. this is an unfinished prototype of what i want to do with the battle system. i just feel i need to show you what i'm doing so far, and to ask for any ideas to make it better. thanks.
