I just realized my link is still in my signature. My referrals have been maxed out for quite some time. I really should get rid of it.... -
My line of thinking is pretty much the same as isaacsol's, as is the 99+% of other people. This case made headlines because it is an exception to the norm, not because there is some epidemic of religious zealots indirectly killing their children. To say that parents should have their rights removed pertaining to their child's medical care is opening a Pandora's Box that will lead to much more bad than good. If it comes down to a definitive life-death situation, then I don't disagree that some form of intermediary should have say in the decision, but other than that, the decision SHOULD be in the hands of the parents. The world needs to use more common-sense instead of the need to set strict guidlines and regulations on every thing. You can't generalize and change an entire way of doing things because of a few minor exceptions that are far removed from the norm.

Should Rape Porn Be Illegal?
ForeverZer0 replied to FranklinX's topic in Debate and Mature Discussion
Cool story, it almost makes sense. I might just not be smart enough to understand, in fact, I am sure of it. Either way, I'm glad I could teach you something about MP3 decoder copyrights. Its always nice to help out a fellow member. ;) I apologize if I caused you embarrassment by pointing out your incorrectness, that was not my intention. Cheers. -
Should Rape Porn Be Illegal?

That isn't what it sounded like. ...as this further makes it not sound like... Not quite understanding the hostility here, but you're asking me to counter your argument when you basically said you thought what I did. How am I supposed to "prove that wrong"? It appears to me like you are mad and trying to pick a fight because I made a minor correction to a small comment you made. I didn't "avoid the topic". You said some unrelated stuff about government oppression, and then "ForeverZero summed it up". Hard to "debate" that. Should I now take the opposing side and try to prove myself wrong? Is that what you are asking? -
Should Rape Porn Be Illegal?
ForeverZer0 replied to FranklinX's topic in Debate and Mature Discussion
Ask for "increasing risk", that is a bullshit excuse for someone to do, and the very idea that it would be is a predominate problem with today's society. Nothing is ever anyone's own fault anymore, its all because of some external reason that was out of the person's control. That way of thinking seriously pisses me off. "I molest children because I was molested" "I do drugs because I used to see my Dad do them" "I murder prostitutes because I didn't have a father growing up" These are the kind of stupid excuses that fill our ears that people give. They can be influences possibly, but not excuses. Society as a whole needs to learn that they are responsible for the actions they make. No one else is. No history of growing up is. It can provide a bad influence, and possibly make it a harder decision-making process than someone who did not have such experiences, but you CHOSE to allow it to influence you into your actions. That is a conscious decision. 99.9999% of people KNOW that what they are doing is wrong when they are doing it. If they have that knowledge, and do it anyway, how can they possibly blame it on something else? -
Should Rape Porn Be Illegal?
ForeverZer0 replied to FranklinX's topic in Debate and Mature Discussion
The MP3 decoder is under copyright protection. This isn't any type of oppression, its protecting the rights of the copyright holders. If you want to use MP3 format in a commercial product, you have to pay for it. Many do not know that, but while developing ARC, we ran into this issue. "Penetration" is an unrelated issue, and has nothing to do with the reasons people feel it should be banned. There are also many forms of "realistic" smut videos that depict murder in a non-Hollywoood format. They are made to appear real and homemade. I don't feel this is really a valid counter-argument. I also did not say that the government should not ban it because of past mistakes. I said they should not because it is the business of a government to do so. If you think it is, then your idea of the purpose of government is a bit off, although we do come from different countries, so that argument is obviously only applies to your form of government and its founding principles. -
Should Rape Porn Be Illegal?
ForeverZer0 replied to FranklinX's topic in Debate and Mature Discussion
You have control over what you allow to influence you. If you watch rape-porn, then go rape someone, it is ludicrous for you to blame it on the porn. The problem is not with the porn, its with a total lack of personal responsibility for one's own actions. -
Should Rape Porn Be Illegal?
ForeverZer0 replied to FranklinX's topic in Debate and Mature Discussion
Although I personally believe it a strange form of roleplay, what are the grounds to ban it? Because rape is criminal? How many action movies do you know of that don't depict some sort of killing? Killing is criminal, so as you can see the logic doesn't work. I understand that it is quite loathsome for most to know that people like to watch fictitious rape. There is also porn of 18+ year old women, who make themselves look like children so that pedophiles can have their own form of legal porn. Yes, this stuff is disgusting to most people, myself included, but it is no business of a government to tell someone what they can/can't watch. There is already far to much stuff under government control that should never be, let's not make any more. Its like this: If you don't like it, don't watch it. I don't like watching people have sex with horses, therefore I do not seek it out. If my neighbor does, that's his business. So long as he ain't making moves on my dog, I could care less, although I admit my opinion of him might be a bit different... -
[RMXP] Error With My Side View Battle Script
ForeverZer0 replied to Kamakaze Ghost's question in Support
Just because an error occurs in one script does not mean that is that script that is causing the issue. Many times it is conflicts between two scripts, or even a simple matter of what order they are in. If you seriously want help, perhaps it would be wiser to use common sense and be a bit more specific about your game's setup before getting sarcastic. No one here wants to pull teeth and have to ask every basic question necessary just to get you to tell what should have been posted in the original topic in place of "If anybody needs more information tell me and I will reply as fast as I can, thanks". Our lives do not rotate around helping people unwilling to help themselves on a forum, nor is it our obligation to do so. You will find in life that the old adage of "you catch more flies with honey" is very true. I for one have a good idea what your problem is, but due to your previous comment will not be offering any insight. -
MCI Audio Module [XP][VX][VXA]
ForeverZer0 replied to ForeverZer0's topic in Archived RPG Maker XP Scripts (RGSS1)
I updated the script and demo. Added the following: - Fixed incorrect filepaths that mixed forward and backward slashes - Fixed a bug that would cause full paths to files not to play sometimes - Added an enumerator for iterating Audio mixers ("Audio.each_mixer") - Added methods to Game_System for memorizing/restoring audio I also created a small plugin that will automatically memorize/restore BGM and BGS before and after battle. It is not part of the main script. If you would like to use it, either get it separately with the link above in the main post, or copy-paste from the demo. -
That is what that script does. The value of the keys are nothing more than the keycodes assigned to a standard ASCII keyboard. You can modify the constants to be whatever you want. If you are using a gamepad, just assign a constant value(s) to whatever the associated code each button uses, and there you are.
-
You could use a custom Input module for that by remapping the keys. Blizzard's script in Tons of Addons is the best in my opinion. It is the first script of the second section if memory serves me correctly. Using that should provide the functionality you are looking for.
-
Could just change the graphic of characters, though that could become a pain in the ass. A simple script to do it using terrain tags or something as flags could automate it for you, and shouldn't require much more than 20-30 lines of code.
-
I don't understand. People adjust their controls to how they like them. Manual adjustment is in almost every game for just this reason. Not to often does requiring a strict keyboard layout benefit anybody. If you simply want a custom Input module that allows for more keys, there are a few of them floating around. I don't have any links, but a search for it will turn them up.

[Solved]Using special characters in RMXP scripts

Just make sure that all files are using UTF8 encoding for reading and writing. I ran into this problem when developing Gemini. -
[Solved]Using special characters in RMXP scripts
ForeverZer0 replied to Moonpearl's question in Support
RMXP sets the KCODE to UTF-8, so it shouldn't be that it is reading the string in the wrong encoding. Later versions of Ruby are more "automatic", and has the String#force_encoding method for when you need something else. If you want to double-check, simply put "p $KCODE" somewhere in the editor and run it. If its not "UTF8", then set to be so. Simply place $KCODE = "UTF8" in the first line of the editor. -
Modify the values in "update_cursor_rect" of the Window_MenuStatus script. The cursor behaves differently in that Window than anywhere else. #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- # * Cursor Rectangle Update #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- def update_cursor_rect if @index < 0 self.cursor_rect.empty else self.cursor_rect.set(0, @index * 116, self.width - 32, 96) end end
-
The x and y values used for a normal cursor assume it is the far left-upper corner of the image. Your cursor is meant to be to the left of the item, instead of on it. You have a few simple options that may let you get away with not editing a bunch of scripts. 1. Change the image, add blank pixels to the left side of it. 2. Change the ox and oy of the cursor sprite.

[Solved]Using special characters in RMXP scripts

Does the font the game is using support those characters? -
@bigace: You have seen too many movies. Obviously, the world would be a better place without nuclear weapons, that is without question. The problem now lies in the fact that various countries now have them. It is the equivalent of asking a country that only has guns to revert to swords and spears because guns are "morally wrong". As horrible as using nuclear weapons is, the mere possession of them is a deterrent of against another nation that also possesses them. Like it or not, the technology and the knowledge to create nuclear weapons is not going away, nor are all the countries that have them suddenly going to dismantle them all. Sure, they may reduce stock, but full dismantling is not gonna happen. I don't think it is "wrong" to have them, but I doubt any country that ever uses them, especially in today's day, to actually solve any problems with that action. I just don't believe it be an issue of "morals" to carry the bigger stick. An issue of wisdom, maybe, but morals doesn't really apply in my personal opinion.
-
This kinda confused me. Throughout history most wars, at least as far as "major conflicts" go, aren't really about money. They usually deal more with hatred/bigotry of race/religion/ethnic group, or freedom from oppression. Obviously groups/countries that set out to conquer and claim land as their own could be construed as "for money", but even then it extends well beyond that generalized reason. All in all, now that the first option has changed, I would choose it. I would go, and do my best, but not because I wanted to.

[Solution]RMVX Failed to initialize DirectX Audio & CoGen DRM
ForeverZer0 replied to Noob Saibot's question in Support
I believe those issues are COGen related, so I don't think older versions that don't have it have the problem to begin with. I can say that definitively for the COGen error, but I am not sure about the DirectAudio one. -
[Solution]RMVX Failed to initialize DirectX Audio & CoGen DRM
ForeverZer0 replied to Noob Saibot's question in Support
Another solution is to simply use an older version of the installer that still uses Protexis as the authenticator. Although Protexis was pretty weak, COGen is absolutely pathetic. You simply need to swap a single true/false registry value to pirate the application. -
Are you only refreshing the current character, and the other characters are never getting drawn? Actual code would make it rather simple to spot your mistake more than just pictures.
