  5. Lordy, no. I'm more confident that anyone's art here is better than mine--especially when it comes to anatomy. Never will get a handle on that. Izy, what he needs to know is physical details. And also about their personality. It's hard to draw a character how someone wants it unless you know these things. For example, is their hairstyle a ponytail? Pigtails? How are we supposed to draw these things unless we know? Giving two examples of very similar busts and saying "like this, not like this" is very vague. A lot of games I've played have used existing models and posed them to create "screenshot" graphics and also facesets/busts. But those were fangames--for original characters, you're going to have to invest time into making your own. I haven't done it myself, but I know it needs PMD editor, a lot of hard work, and tutorials. Here's a good one I found: https://sites.google.com/site/mikumikubeat/tutorials/makemodel If you finish a model (which takes a ton of work, as I've heard from some people), you can take it into the MMD program and pose it how you want. That's the extent of my knowledge. But a lot of the info is available on the internet if you just google it.
  6. This right here. My feelings exactly--one of the reasons why I've stuck to RMXP all this time. Someone gave me a VX Ace key so we could work together on a VX Ace project, but I find myself using it sparely for my own purposes. RMXP has more resources, anyway. Most of the things you could do in Ace, you can probably find a substitute for XP from all the scripts floating around out there.

  8. I was going to say that I might try, but looks like Saltome has it wrapped up. If you still want to try 3D models with that similar look like Comipo has, MMD (Miku Miku Dance) is a pretty good substitute. Although you'd have to get some models off the net or make your own. I've played around with it in the past--it's not my thing, but there are a lot of resources for it, especially on deviantART.

  10. I've been trying to get it to look like it's a jacket that's too big for him, but I think I'm just making it look like the anatomy is skewed. D: Thanks for the input, though, I can see where it's looking wrong. Maybe I should work on a sprite with him only wearing his shirt first, then add the jacket... seems like it would give me a better place to start.
  11. Updated the first post with some anatomy fixes. Although I can really call them "fixes", since they didn't help anything. Just goes to prove that anatomy books can't help everything.
  12. ... Just reading your post makes me want to try out Unity, Pol. I considered it a long while ago, but I was never really certain about it, since I heard some people say that it can be very time consuming to make a full game in it. That said, if I ever finish my current projects in RMXP, I'll dabble around in it a little more and then leave it at that. I don't think I'd move on to another RPG Maker; Ace wasn't to my liking. Even then... I'm kind of curious about the engine you're trying to make, though, Izy. What features would you plan on implementing?
  13. I felt the same when I saw it. Man, do I look smug. Seeing Miles Edgeworth standing in 1st place and looking so self-congratulatory just makes my day. But the reason I came back to this account even months after my partner left is because I love this community. It's not the same when I visited more than a year ago as a guest, but it's fun to just be here with the people that continue to be active in the community. My partner left a long time ago after becoming more efficient in RMXP, so I'm able to use this account now. After making my first post on this account in November just to for help in our game, I began to enjoy being on this site more and more. So it's only thanks to the awesome community on here, and people like Marked who continue to keep it going after all this time, that I became a member and wanted to contribute more. Kudos to you all, and congrats to David and blackmage, too. No, don't. The pepper is perfect, it looks like a mask. We can create a new superhero mascot and name him "Pepper Man" or something.
  14. Not that I've heard. From what I know, each RPG Maker is released three years apart from each other (at least the major ones). RPG Maker VX Ace, I think, took a year longer. I look at the RPG Maker blog from time to time, I haven't seen any info regarding new RPG Makers. And that's quite a project to be working on. Good luck with it.
  15. In any case, I like where the game is going. It did have a nice atmosphere, imo. Good choice of graphics, then. I'll definitely be playing more of this when my new headphones arrive, then I'll be waiting for the main game to come along. :)
  16. A shop? For buying games? ... Guess I'd better go make a bank account soon.
  17. Can't argue with rgangsta on that. The community is all sorts of awesome here. Have fun!
  18. After 24 hours of no sleep, I find out that bitter coffee actually starts tasting BITTER.

  19. I'm working on uploading some sort of tutorial right now, since I saw your quote. Not sure how good of a tutorial maker I am, but whatever it is, I'm going to try and make it understandable. Should be up soon, in a few hours, since I've been working on it for about an hour now.
  20. It's been over a year since the guy posted the original topic. Either he's already enlisted the help of our good friend Google or left the topic. I do believe any advice given now is not likely to reach him. ... Thanks for the info, though, Izy. I was kind of curious about how those things were made. Without freeware, I mean.
  21. Awesome. I'm looking forward to your new game. Although I've stopped playing Decrepit Progeny thanks to breaking my earbuds.... for the third time in a few months. I'll get back on it when I buy some new ones, since I want to be fully immersed in whatever I'm playing. When I opened the game, I spent a few minutes trying to remember eighth grade English so I could actually get what the title meant. Just sayin'. Titles usually bug me if they're too complicated, but I ended up playing the game and enjoying what I've seen so far, anyway. Although the BGM could be turned up a bit, I had to turn up my volume higher than usual to hear it well. btw, did you make the character graphics yourself? I like them.
  22. A cup of bitter, dark coffee steeped overnight... best way to wake up in the morning.

  23. Catwalks? I think I might have something like that. You mean this? It has railings and stairs, with some of what I think are floor tiles(?). You could easily make something out of that. And as for falling, I'm not sure if this helps, but I was able to make my characters fall by editing some sprite poses. I'll link you to an unlisted video that shows how it looks in my game (don't share this vid outside GDU)... quality is worse than bad for this vid, forgive me for that: It looks too "in-sync", what with them falling at the same time, but I'm going to finish eventing for the first portion of the game before I change that. In actuality, the one in the black suit should be falling down first. But like I said, rough eventing, will polish later. Is that what you're aiming for? Or are you trying to make your character fall, say, through a hole in the floor or something? I think I can show you how to do what you're trying to do, but it depends on the situation you're presenting.
  24. Sure. It requires a serial number to activate, though. This thing was bought ages ago... It might be lacking in a lot of newer features, like that transparency option. PMed you with a link to my version. I don't think it's the original files, but this is what I found lying around on my desktop.
  25. I did some googling, but I didn't find any rusty bars. I haven't looked at RMXP default tilesets in a while (I'm using some custom ones) but I think you're going to have to combine tilesets for this one. RMXP has some cave tilesets that sort of look "underground". You can take some prison doors from RMXP and toy around with them in your editing program--like Photoshop, if you have it. Mess around with colours, contrast, saturation. The bars as they are don't look to bad to me, though. Then again, that might be because I just don't use them. Also, fogs and screen colour tone. A little use of fog can make things interesting. Likewise you can change the colour of the screen tone, darken things a little.... Not sure what you mean by walkways, but if you're looking for some sort of cement tile or something like that, just edit in in from another tileset. Are you trying for a more modern prison or something? Like in "Richard and Alice"?
