Gay Marriage - Yes? No? Maybe so?
BiddyPocket replied to BiddyPocket's topic in Debate and Mature Discussion
Yes Leon, but would you have gone so far as to marry him? :P cute story, though :D -
hey all! Okay so I FINALLY got RMXP! yay! And, I was fooling around with a map and it's driving me absolutely nuts because I can't seem to make the walls work properly. For some reason, when I test play the game, my character can walk on the walls. I did all the floors and walls in layer 1 - is that where they're supposed to be? It's driving me nuts - just look! Screenshot Help would be much appreciated :). Also, is it possible to mix tilesets together? It doesn't seem to be possible, as I've tried, but I'm sure there's a way... Thanks! ~Joe

Gay Marriage - Yes? No? Maybe so?
BiddyPocket replied to BiddyPocket's topic in Debate and Mature Discussion
There are over a thousand benefits / rights that come along with marriage, but you're honestly telling me that there aren't straight couples who might just be "faking it" too? I think a situation like Chuck and Larry is extremely impractical. You show me two fully heterosexual men who are willing to kiss in front of others and proclaim themselves as gay just for benefits (with the intent of someday actually getting married) and I'll stand corrected. -
Welcome to RMXP unlimited! I like that house ya got there, 'tis a cozy little place.

Well, the "USA Drinking Age" topic went swimmingly! I figure I'd incorporate some more issues onto this section of the forums and spur some more healthy debate. So, the issue at hand...gay marriage. In the United States, homosexual couples currently do not have the ability to get married in an overwhelming majoiry (49) of the states. The question at hand is whether or not this should be deemed unconstitutional, or if the federal government should not get involved at all, seeing as how marriage laws are governed by each individual state. I'm sorry for those of you who aren't American and therefore might know have as much background to the federal/state issue and whatnot, but your opinions are welcome nonetheless! Here are the five dominant views regarding gay marriage: 1) It should be allowed and treated the same as a marraige between a man and a woman. 2) It should not be allowed, but homosexuals should be allowed to enter into civil unions. 3) It should be up to each individual state to decide their own marriage laws. 4) It should not be allowed and civil unions should not be allowed. 5) Marriage in general should be done away with and everyone should enter into civil unions - marriage would then lose the rights attached with it and become solely a religious practice, while civil unions would replace marriage and include all previous rights attached with it. So, which are you? Or, do you have another alternative? --------------------- For all intents and purposes, I'm 5. I think that everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, should be allowed to have the same rights. "Marriage" is just a title, and religious folk can keep it! It's the rights that are in question, and as of right now, civil unions just don't grant 100% of the rights that a marriage does. So, either change marriage, or change the definion of a civil union.

Hey there! Welcome aboard! and YAY Star Wars! Woot!

Couldn't you just make the city, like, with whatever tileset you wanted it to look like, and then put in a "background image" or something of clouds or the sky to make it appear as if it's flying? I know I've seen images where people have put in backgrounds and it really changes the whole way the game looks. Idk, maybe that could be a solution?

RGSS is a script just like any other that is set specifically to RMXP. It's what governs the entire RPG creation. By altering it, you can change practically anything about the game from type of battle system, to types of images that appear on the screen, to different effects within the game itself. just like Java or HTML, RGSS is a script that is the basis for RPG maker XP. However, I know nothing about how to use it. You'll probably get a better response from someone else...

Yay Marked!! He did it! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Now life will be that much easier for me when I start making my game :D. Now all that's left is to move all the existing topics into their appropriate places, which I see is already being done. Yay!! Thanks Marked :D

I agree with Marked. As president of a chapter of an organization at my school that deals with mental health issues, Active Minds, as well as a future psychologist, I have a LOT of trouble with saying "sure, go ahead, kill yourself!" There are so, so, so many things that could provoke suicidal thoughts and depressive tendancies, most of which someone might not even know they possess.

I voted not sure. I don't know if I can truly answer that question....I DO like the 2D simplicity of the games, but then I have ideas to put 3D aspects into the game and integrate them with the 2D ones. For making an RPG I'd say 2D, but I suppose if I were playing a new one these days then I would like it to be 3D....

Classical ;) I'm listening to Tchaikovsky's 4th symphony in f minor, Op. 36 - Mvt. II as we speak :)

U.S.A - Should we change the drinking age?
BiddyPocket replied to BiddyPocket's topic in Debate and Mature Discussion
Well Marked, simply put, you can't have your cake and eat it too :P Nothing. And you should report him. If only people knew of the horrible automobile accidents that happened every day...it's just so upsetting that people are THAT stupid. I say do it! -
U.S.A - Should we change the drinking age?
BiddyPocket replied to BiddyPocket's topic in Debate and Mature Discussion
Then maybe we should change those other legalities to 21....I know quite a few 18 year olds who shouldn't be voting :D. Then again, I could never imagine a world where you aren't legally considered an adult until you're 21 O_0. -
hahahahaha, so true. That's pretty funny!

U.S.A - Should we change the drinking age?
BiddyPocket replied to BiddyPocket's topic in Debate and Mature Discussion
But I think it's a huge stretch to try and relate that to responsible drinking. Many people who do not leave home until after college, such as myself, cannot do so because college is insanely expensive. I can't handle $40,000 by myself, let alone try and find an apartment to live in during breaks and such. I think that being older DOES make you more responsible, or at least for the majoirty, but that maybe there's something we're missing here altogether. Most alcohol related accidents are vehicular, and most involve young people UNDER the age of 21....but if you look at that "critical period" for car insurance, anyone under 25 has higher rates then a majority of the popularion (especially in New Jersey ;) ). Maybe, in conjunction with leaving the drinking age at 21, we should raise the legal driving age, make it harder to get a license, attach breathalizers to car ignitions, etc. I think maybe that is the root of the problem. It isn't that teens are just irresponsible - because no doubt a lot are, but it's that they have access to driving a car AND drinking at the same time. -
I think that not enough people know about the topic, and thus why they haven't voted. Feel free to change the name of it, or make an announcement? If you think that would help. Also, I think that we could do this not only with scripts but with tutorials too! I mean, think about it - instead of fishing around for individual tutorials on how to do certain specific things in the entire thread, we could break it up. Suddenly, all the mapping tutorials are in one place, eventing in another, etc. Or we could even break it down within those sections. For example, eventing could be broken up into "small events/switches" and then "cut scenes," or whatever. Doesn't have to be those, but you get the point.

You can make VIDEOS with it too! Like, for REAL CUT SCENES!....the only thing is that I don't think you can make people and buildings, but you can definitely import things from online. So, if you have photoshop, and then download this, it would be AMAZING! Go to www.youtube.com and look up "terragen videos" and you'll see what I'm talking about!
-
If you look around online there are some pretty great tutorials on how to use it, some of which are on the actual site I believe. It's pretty insane what can be made, and to import these images to RMXP would bring the gaming experience to a whole new level, methinks. I mean, just imagine using images like this for battlebacks and stuff.
-
Lookie what I found! - http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/ It's a program called Terragen, and it's free! It's software that is Windows XP compatible and it allows you to create VERY realistic 3D scenery! How neeeaattt!! This would be awesome for making custom battlebacks and the like! It says it's not for commercial use...but I suppose, if we're not charging money for our games, then it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Enjoy! ~Joe
