  1. thanks for OK-ing it Emily! And thank you Zen :). I'm really looking forward to starting this project!! UPDATE: I've added more information about the last four characters to complete the list! Yay!
  2. Hey everyone! So, here's what I've been conjuring up while waiting to start my game. I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think! Legends Awake Prologue: Nearly a century ago marked the beginning of the longest war ever waged on planet Esgard. The totalitarian nation of Isdor, seeking to further their militaristic rule to the lands of the West and South, armed battalion upon battalion of troops and set forth to conquer the small nations of the Northern continent. In an attempt to hinder the progression of the Isdorian Empire, the great nations of the West, Fendor and Vermise, declared war on the Northern continent, their armies already having reached the Northern shores. They were met with fierce retaliation, however, and were forced to retreat back to the West, the militant Isdorians trailing behind. In a desperate attempt to defeat the Northern Empire and preserve the Western continent, Fendor and Vermise sought out the aid of the mighty Agron Federation of the fiery South. With their help, the Western nations were able to push back the unrelenting Isdorian military. Many years passed. Isdor remained dormant, but anger and greed were still brewing in the North. A surprise attack on the West, years after the Agron Federation returned to the South, led to the fall of the Western continent. Fendor and Vermise were no match for the new destructive powers of Isdor. What was this new divine force that amplified the power of the North? And how did it overcome two of the most virile nations on the planet? 87 years have passed since the war began. The Agron Federation now rests on the cusp of war, waiting for the inevitable attack by the Isdorian Empire. With trade at a standstill and the economy in shambles, the volcanic City of Agros has grown weak and impoverished. Amongst the chaos of the impending worldwide battle, one man sets out on a journey to reunite a young woman with her family in the West, but stumbles upon the shocking truth behind the strength of the great nations ? a secret that may be able to restore balance to the planet of Esgard and uncover his inner personal demons. Screenshots: Screenshots The City of Agros In the Church...shh! I'm praying! Agron Flats Muarder's Peak (hint: first mini boss and first weapon :)) Bridge to Agros Tower Agros Tower Top of Agros Tower - what a nice view! City Gate Playable Characters: (will be available in the demo once it is complete) Fin Eddle, Pocket Thief - An orphaned man in his mid 20's, known for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ever since he can remember he has lived in Agros, but with no family around, there is speculation to his true nation of origin. Unable to sustain a job due to his constant trouble with the Agron Army, he makes a living by pick-pocketting. Nobi Misari, Vicar - A young girl in her early 20's. A member of the Iras Sanctus, one of the more archaic religions of Esgard, Nobi yearns to return to Fendor. She was separated from her family as a child, sent to Agros after the first wave of Isdorian attacks for protection. Saiyre Darnyll, Army General - Saiyre is a strong willed and ferocious individual, though she very much has a heart of gold. A citizen of Agros for her entire life, she strives to fill the shoes of her father, a great colonel who lead the Agron army to countless victories in the West. Serving in the army for over 20 years, General Darnyll struggles to balance her personal victories with the onslaught of anti-female sentiments among the soldiers. (not available in demo) Lile Harpur, Guardian - Lile is the head of operations in the Collodoron Academy of Technology. Known for their advancement in technology, the people of Collodor strive to strengthen the Federation. Though content with his current position as head of operations in the leading university for the technological arts, Lile has refrained from acting on his military duties. His position is currently under investigation by the King of Collodor. Fryett Peche, Conjurer - An ex-member of the Iras Sanctus, Fryett was banned from practicing this religion due to his meddling in dark margic. Once the high apprentice of the Voodus, a Priest of the Iras Sanctus, and military consultant to the King of Densch, Fryett is now a streetside magician and conjurur in the dark arts. He's looking for a way to reach Illbadess, the holy city, to prove his theories about the secret power of Isdor true. Verna Trobiss, Spearman - Verna is a citizen of Rhodaire, a neutral nation situated a few hundred miles off the coast of the southern continent. She has been stranded in Agros ever since her ship from Rhodaire was sunk. Now in her late 20's, Verna resides in Collodor, waiting for another ship to be built so she can return home. Dorian Wren, Arbalest - Dorian is a headstrong, stubborn, heroic individual. Currently living in Rhodaire, Dorian is attempting to single-handedly bring down the Isdorian army without the aid of any wayward vagabonds. Determined to use his high status as a sharpshooting celebrity to bring justice to his people, the citizens of Vermise. World Map: This story takes place on planet Esgard. The world map presents itself in the form of three main continents, each with multiple armed nations. The northern continent is the largest, known for its particularly harsh weather and rugged terrain. The western continent is heavily populated. it's the most scenic of all the continents, offering some of the hottest vacation spots. Lastly, there is the southern continent, a landmass formed literally by the eruption of multiple volcanos thousands of years ago. The soil is lifeless and the days are long. It is home to the industrial nations of Planet Esgard. There are also many other smaller landmasses and islands and whatnot. At the beginning of the game, the northern continent is completely under Isdorian control. After the fall of Fendor and Vermise, the other smaller nations of the west slowly surrendered to the power of the north. Though still a beautiful continent, the west is slowly but surely being taken over by the north. The Agros Federation, or the four nations making up the southern continent, are being starved out by the Isdorians. All contact and travel between the other lands has been ceased, Agros isolated from their allies. Battle System: The battle system is a standard turn based system. Characters learn special skills periodically by gaining experience. They also learn magic by equipping certain items found to their individual *bleeps* (censored, because if it wasn't, it would ruin the plot). They also have two distinct slots available for "artifacts," or special items that increase stats during battle or protect from certain magic. Certain skills require different tactics and methods of approach, special to each individual character. Original Soundtrack - Click here! (the soundtrack is from # 10-12) - Agron Plateau - Code of Honor - Depths - Distant Spirits - Now What? - Prayer - Sneak Easy - Solemnly They March - Solemnly They Walk - General's Lullaby - Saiyre's Theme - Nobi's Theme Well, I hope this meets the requirements for what a project post must include. Since I haven't actually started, I don't have screens, but they will come shortly :). ~ Joe
  3. I think having pre-made maps is a positive thing ONLY for the purpose of getting used to RMXP. But, they should never be used in a game...I mean, maps are pretty much the driving force of any RGP - they go hand in hand with the story line. I don't even see how people could begin a game without having a worldmap design structured in their head. I've been brewing up a few ideas for my soon to be WOP (Legends Awake), and the entire story basically revovles around the way everything is situated on the world map and individually within the towns and whatnot. Alas, if they're only being used as tutorial-type things then I can't really see the harm in it.
  4. I hope you stay too, and I don't even know you. I'm so mad because I've just gotten into RMXP and, before I can even play it, people seem to be dropping like flies! Oh saddness :(
  5. I'm curoius to know to what extent, though. The bible says a lot of things that aren't necessarily true these days, or at least that the Christian majority tends to ignore. But I don't think transexuality was as present then as it is today. Before Christ, possibly, such as in Ancient Greece. What source indicates that individuals were dealing with transexuality in those times? Anyway, in regard to dealing with being transexual, it's a very difficult thing. I'm an RA (resident assistant) at my college and we had a transgender student. An incident occured where his psychologist was concerned for his safety so campus police came and, not knowing he was transgender, referred to him as a female, which made him very upset. Apparently it was hard for him to get the legal name changes and other formalities that would have altered campus police of the change. Knowing a few transexuals I can say that it isn't an easy life - transexuals are actually the targets of more hate crimes then every other minority (sexuality, race, religion, etc.) COMBINED. That's pretty intense (true for the US, at least). But I say go for it! There are so many people out there who don't understand, and it's so frustrating. I've just heard from friends that it's an expensive decision. But don't let the ignorant few hold you back! LOGO, the LGBT cable channel, has a show called "Trans-Generation" - it's very interesting/informative!
  6. Believe it or not, it's probably thee most common response I get from people. They compare the US to countries like England and France, where the legal age is much lower, and basically say "if they can, why can't we?!" I agree. That's why this is such a strange stance to take for me - I do drink, but I'm not one of those typical stupid American teens. I'm actually probably the most responsible of all my friends/family and such. But, by breaking the laws I suppose it shows that I don't care for it much....and my cousin died in an alcohol related car accident two years ago, and he was well over the age 21. Turning 21 does NOT suddenly make people more responsible, but I like to think in my perfect world that it at least stops some people from attaining alcohol that, at 18 and younger, are simply those "stupid kids" who end up dead.

    Flying City

o0o, Emily when you're done be sure to post some pictures! I'd love to see how it comes out :D.
  8. Hey all! Okay, so this forum was looking a little bare, so why not inspire some healthy debate? So, here's the topic: Should the United States government institute a proposal to lower the drinking age from 21 to 18? For those of you who aren't aware, legal drinking ages became a state right after Prohibition is the 20's, but are pressured by the Federal government to agree on the age of 21. States are free to lower the drinking age to whatever they want, but will never do so because of the financial assistance and other benefits that the federal government has promised them for upholding the current age. Arguement for those who want to lower it/get rid of it: - If our troops can go off to war and die at, and we can all vote at 18, why can't we consume alcohol? - We're so far behind other countries! We're one of the only countries that still have drinking ages over 18, along with Japan and a few others. - Kids these days drink all the time, and 21 isn't a magical age that suddenly makes people more responsible to handle alcohol, so if the laws are being broken then why not change them? Arguement for those who want to keep it at 21: - Lowering the drinking age now will cause social chaos - high school drop-out rate will rise, teens will get drunk in schools, and numbers of alcohol-related accidents will increase! - Europe and other areas where the drinking age is 18, or even 16, are contemplating raising it due to an increase in alcohol related incidents by teens - we should learn from their mistake! - At 18, children aren't mature enough to handle access to alcohol - look at the number of alcohol-related incidents there are now! Just think about how bad it'll be if we give them full access to it! SO, what do you think? I'd love some input of people from other countries here as well!

    Limericks!

Who doesn't love Limericks?!?! For those of you who don't know, a Limerick is a five-lined poem with the following rhyme scheme - A, A, B, B, A. The beat goes as follows da-dum da-dum da-dum da-dum da-dum da-dum da-de da-de da-de da-de da-dum da-dum da-dum Here's a famous example: There was an old man from Peru Who dreamt he was eating his shoe. He awoke in a fright In the middle of the night And found it was perfectly true. Usually they've overly hilarious and primarily sexual, but for the purposes of this forum we can make them clean :D. Well, here goes! I wish I was back at school Being bored is not so cool My friends are busy or drunk till they're tipsy And I'm stuck home playing the fool oh, saddness....your turn!!
  10. I have a suggestion... Would the Scripts Archive be more easy to use if it were more organized? I mean, as someone who is looking for a bunch of scripts to possibly use, it's hard to find exactly where certain scripts are. I suggest making it so that when you click on the SGSS scrips section, it breaks into subcategories instead of going right into one particular forum. Then, when there have been finished scripts made, they can be sorted into "battle system scripts," "event scripts," "weapon/armor scripts," etc....you know, or whatever the most prevalent script types are. And only finished scripts would go in those sections, where as all requests would still go in the requests section. Just a suggestion to make the forum a bit more user friendly. I'd be willing to help sort stuff if need be. ~Joe
  11. I've been reading them in anticipation for playing the game, and I have to say that without even owning RMXP it's beginning to make sense. Keep it up, I say!
  12. Yes, indeed! Happy New Year everyone!
  13. Hey all! So, I know I'm new, and I don't even have the game yet...but, I will be getting it shortly and I have years of composing skills as well as an extensive background in both classical and scored film and video game music. I would LOVE to write some music for you all to put in your games. If you'd like to request some music, feel free to PM me with the filled out request sheet that'll be at the bottom of this page. It's important that you give enough information as possible, so try and fill the entire thing out! I suppose I should tell a bit about myself as a composer. I've written two symphonies (scored for full orchestra), I've started a Requiem but did not finish because I decided it was garbage, a three movement viola sonata, and various other pieces of music all composed in a classical style. I am unable to upload any examples of my work due to the fact that I do not have my computer at the moment, but check back here for some samples in about two weeks or so! If you're looking for some originally composed music in a more classical style then fill out the sheet below and send it to me in a PM and we'll discuss it. Unfortunately I wont be able to compose anything until I get back to my computer as well, but I'm hoping to be back at school no later then January 10th. Note: I'll be limiting submissions to one per person for now unless I get hardly any responses. If you have any questions, respond here! I hope this is helpful and I can't wait to learn more about your projects! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Request Form Name: (you!) Title of Project: (title of the game you're making) Description of Project: (just give me a brief overview of the game....what kind of environment/time period it takes place, main plotline, etc.) Description of Music Request: (What am I composing? Is this a character's theme? Background music for a town? world map music? etc. Provide a brief description here as well - who's involved? What's the mood? Are we in the middle of a war?) Exact Length: (If you are setting this music to a cutscene or opening or something and need it to fit a certain time frame then I'll need to know the exact length, in minutes and seconds, of the scene. If it is battle music or background music that will be repetitive then this is not needed) Screenshots/videos: (if you want a cut scene or other timed sequence to have a specific theme, then a cut scene in youtube or whatever you choose is mandatory. If it's background music, then a screenshot(s) of the area must be included) Preferences: Here you can list any preferences that you would like. Do you want it fast? slow? somewhere in the middle? loud? soft? Is it a march, tango, or waltz? Do you want it dark and heavy, or light and fun? Any scoring preferences? Do you absolutely hate the oboe, and do not want it as part of the instrumentation? List all that fun stuff here! Note: I only require a few things from those who use my music. 1) Never share it with anyone else unless they get my permission. 2) Keep the original title of the song that I give it. 3) Give credit where credit is due. 14. Yeah Marked, I believe they're bigger then 100mb...but I'm not sure. It's the software I use that makes them so big, because they really do sound pretty realistic (it's the Garrison's Professional Orchestra, for those who might know Finale2006). Uhg, for once I wish I was back at school already >_<. Oh well, in two weeks I'll be sure to let you all know, and upload some stuff...unless anyone knows if there's a way to do it from your Ipod, though I don't believe it works like that. You know, allowing you to only put one or two songs onto an itunes. Anyway, I'll be sure to let you all know, lol. Wyzrd, did you pay the 60$ for the program? Did everyone? Or am I missing something here...do I just have to download it?
  15. I'm so confuzzled......here's where I found out about it - http://www.enterbrain.co.jp/tkool/RPG_XP/eng/download.html It says you have to purchase the license for 60 buckaroos...idk, maybe it's a North America thing? Regardless, thank you! :D And thank you Marked, I'd love to share my stuff. Unfortunately, I'm too cheap to buy space online to host my music because a lot of it is too large to put up on that free stuff, so I have to send things via AIM. My music is classically based and greatly influenced by nobuo uematsu, the great FF composer. Much to my dismay, I will have to wait until *dies* January 14th-ish in order to start writing again/download RMXP. Arggg..me computer's at school an I'm stuck at home :(. Anyway, thanks for the welcomes :). If I wanted to, say, play a game someone made (you know, to get a feel for it), can I do that without downloading the program? Also, I'm on a Vista at the moment (I have XP back at school), and I've read there are some troubles with it and RMXP - would I still be able to play the games? ~Joe
  16. Hey all, The name's Joe. I actually do not own RMXP, but I am an avid RPGer and plan on getting it soon. I suppose I'll stick around and learn more about it, and hell, why not make friends :). I'm also a composer and can create semi-realistic sounding original compositions for your RPGs if you'd like (I use Finale 2006 to compose, but the sound is surprisingly good!). You can PM me here and I can arrange to send you some samples of stuff I've written and the sound quiality and such. So, yeah. I look forward to being an active member of this group!...though I'm not sure how I feel about dropping 60 bucks for it...is it worth it? ~Joe
