Ah I see. Yeah I saw this topic as simply the increase in tax on alcohol. In terms of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, taxes on goods probably doesn't come into it too much. I'm a bcom student but speaking mainly through what I think, so I could be wrong. Taxes on alcohol and petrol affect everyone so its difficult for the rich to make money on. Things like tax cuts to the rich on the other hand for the supposed 'trickle down' theory is just bullshit and morally wrong. Though morals in governments is a joke also, some more so than others. The price of petrol is probably related to those rich scum. When the price per barrel falls and yet the prices at the pump stay high, then where's the extra revenue going? Last year when I lost my ride to uni coz of quakes, I was spending like $60NZD a week and that's pretty high...take my word for it :P Perhaps the alcohol and petrol taxes are related to economical issues? From what I hear, your university costs skyrocketed? Now that's something to do a Greece (rioting) over.

Sick, isn't it? I don't see the big deal about this, how much alcohol do you need? Perhaps its more than an extra source of income for the government and they're taxing a harmful good. Raising tax on alcohol deters younger drinkers who may not be able to afford it. It's not like they're going to make it completely unobtainable anyways.

May as well do both this month. The frontpage modules only work based on what date it is, since they're fully automatic.

Welcome to the first entry of Project GDU :) Today I am going to show you the initial look at some of the typography. I have gone for green for two reasons: 1. It was the main color of our longest surviving theme and 2. to depart from the most common website color, blue. I think that will help establish a unique factor to the site (not the green, the fact that it's not blue) with it being associated to the color. You don't get that same sort of thing with blue. This of course is not all of the typography. And as an extra sneak peak, here is an unedited part of the forums, this is the default view of the forum software, just with the typography CSS changing the text. Clearly not final: I only did this typography today, the rest of the time I've been working on template integration (which is 99% complete) which is a little harder to show and explain.

Oh I see. Thanks, I'm aware that is broken.. But it redirects to the forums login page (last i checked) so I didn't fix it. Something changed in an upgrade so the login does not work, but soon we won't be using the same software for the homepage/website.

Nice work. Yup we're depressingly slow and I'm working on that. The thing is that it will take a while to get the stuff im working on released.

Well 5 seconds is really bad lol. My connection may be a lot slower than yours but gotta design with the intention to suit as many users different specifications as possible. Even if it loads super quick for you, see if you can make it load even quicker. However the banner is pretty simple... you want under 100kb definitely. Also the banner is 1000px wide, and i think they say that 960px will fit 98% of users. I actually made a topic regarding that once on a web dev forum. However you probably don't need to worry about it, I got a low resolution myself and it fits perfectly within my browser for me.

Looks good so far :) You should in the final release optimize the banner. It loads super slow being 500kb.
