Ah same thing. I'm pretty stumped. I don't really look at IPB's code, I'm more of a joomla person. I know this isn't any consolation, but I'm probably going to write my own downloads manger to remove the necessary crap of IPB, and finally get a downloads manager that actually works. What browser are you using? The flash upload isn't compatible with all browsers. With errors like these you eliminate all the obvious causes first, so lets take a step back and see if that helps...

Actually tend to say its the xth anniversary twice a year: 07 May and 04 October. The 7th of may is when I registered on the very instance of RMXPUnlimited, the invisionfree forum. And 04 October is when I registered with this current database. I can't decide which to use, but really, the site was made on the 7th May despite the data from several months after that being unobtainable. I'm relieved you support you the decision. As I said in the PM it felt wrong, particularly coz I considered us equal owners for reasons apparent only between us. When Noob Saibot hosted us, you were the head admin. I came back only because otherwise that would have ended the forum, but it was a partnership between us. I kinda feel like I let you guys down a little bit though. I understand that, to be here you have to be making games. That's the reality, and guys like you and Leon were real game makers who have been doing it for well over 5 years. It just can't continue, that is the reality. But I still partly responsible for it, like if I had done a better job here, then you guys would still be here. I duno, I suppose I would never had made this post had I got to my computer at a different time, guess in just in one of those moods... :S

Do people still use that thing? It's been awfully unpopular, sadly. Perhaps because its so buggy. As with the gallery, I did an upgrade which (unknown to me) made the html outdated which could potentially cause the problem. You may think, that doesn't sense, but it may a form elements ID is different which would then cause it to not show up in the POST vars. I've been meaning to replace the HTML, but then my mid-terms came up and my laptop imploded, but I'll get onto this tonight for you. No promises this is the issue though, but I hope to fix it up. EDIT: Ok I've replaced the HTML. I tested an upload which uploaded successfully. Are you using the flash uploader or do you select the file and it uploads AFTER you click submit?

Hey everyone, Just a small update in relation to staff members. We have had a few staff members on the forums who have been inactive for a pretty long time. The reason they remained there despite being inactive is because they are in some aspects like founders of the site themselves, they were the original staff members who really were a huge part of the site. However, I am reluctant to say we have to accept that some members have moved on and are unlikely to ever return. That's why I have setup a new usergroup for them, they are now part of the 'RMXPU Legends'. So far I have only shifted 4 members to this category from staff positions, but I think I will also add normal members who deserve the status to this group also. The current RMXPU Legends are: -Leon -Wyzrd -Arkbennett -EmilyAnnCoons So to remind everyone, here's how the current staff list stands: Admin -Marked Administrator -isaacsol Global Moderators -Polraudio -Kiriashi (who I'm hoping will return) Local Moderators -kellessdee Teachers -Broken Messiah -Chief Also I would like to take this chance to welcome our newest moderator to the team, the first in a long while, kellessdee. He is a local mod in all Game Dev forums but he will most likely be promoted to a Global Mod with Pol and Kiriashi. And lastly, today is the 8th of May which means it has been 5 years and 1 day since I first started with RMXPU. Happy half decade :) I know things are going slow for us at the moment, but I am going to work hard on the site and do my best to create activity.

The status is that I just finished my last mid-term test this morning, and as I type this (in safe mode) I'm transferring my files across our network so I can reinstall windows so this thing functions properly. I purchased a new laptop but I got refund because it got trapped in a building after a quake. So, I should be continuing work on it shortly :) I have to download a few programs first though, which I used to write stuff. In terms of a release date, its very difficult to say. My best estimate is probablly really inaccurate. One of the reasons for that is if you see the side menu, a lot of those things are custom applications that I had planned for the new site. But I could just hide them, making a pretty empty looking menu. We'll see, it all depends how it unfolds.

Quite the contrary, you are lost to RMXP Unlimited. You demonstrated Valdred's point almost poetically. From someone who's been doing this for a a couple of years now, I can advise you that to run a site you need to demonstrate a level of maturity. You need the respect of your members if you're going to act as their admin on a community. Second, I disagree with Valred's comment about the domain name. For what its worth, I think it does not reflect dedication necessarily, and sometimes its not within a persons means. We certainly didn't have one right away. I'm not going to delete you, just don't come back if that's how you feel. You've done nothing wrong aside from the alternate account you used to promote your project, (by the way, I can see the IP address of each post), but I gave you the benefit of the doubt (that being a sibling or something registered, though unlikely in this case). I wish you luck with your website, and hope you improve what needs improving :alright: Topic closed PS: remove your iframes, it will improve your sites performance search engine wise and allow people to link to specific parts of your site. It will be very beneficial.

Ah, I heard about that, I'm gald you're safe. Ironically, NZ just had a fatal tornado this afternoon, the first I've ever heard of here. What's with the tornado's in the US this year?

Welcome newbie Sjors! By the way, how do you pronounce that? I once complained on an RM forum that the member title for new members was 'Noob', which is kinda insulting. Technically, you're a newbie to this forum. I think that changes at like 25, or 50 posts. I enabled those settings like 4 years ago, I really can't remember that far :P hope you enjoy your stay :)

That's what I was thinking :) The current theme? No I wasn't. You can find it here: http://www.yootheme.com/demo/themes/joomla/2010/enterprise/index.php?preset=default However I converted that to an IPB theme. So the websites theme was made by yootheme, and I copied it to the forums to make it look the same. I also did other things like create an IPB hook to replicate Joomla's menu system. The main menu you see when browsing the forums (and top menu) is nearly identical to when you're on the homepage, but its entirely done through IPB. Yoothemes menu designs have the most over-complicated HTML I've ever seen... it took me forever to distinguish the HTML through three levels of menu... With this design, I'm going all out with integration :P This project isn't just a design with basic html and css being written up for it. I actually just deleted a paragraph continuing on from the previous sentence, but I'll stop there :P I really appreciate everyone's replies to this topic, it really makes me want to work harder :D

Lol kellessdee, that quote is coming up 2 years old. Kiriashi isn't here, and neither is Leon. I doubt he'll see this, and I'm certain enrollments aren't happening. @Gergoth: Yeah sorry, you're not in, but that just means you cannot get feedback from Leon himself. However I urge you to read his through the tutorials he wrote and post your questions in those topics, or create your own where you're having trouble. This topic no longer serves any purpose so I will close it. Leon can open it himself if he ever wants to open enrollments again.

What I would like to try and do is exactly what you said, create a 'games(development) website'. Engine support comes hand in hand with any site similar to this. But what I want the new focus to be is on making games, and providing a place to display and discuss your games. The engines are just the tools, and our users can use whatever engine they like. However, there were be a defined list of engines the support has to support. Making a forum labeled 'Game Making Support' is probably too risky (I'm aware its what we have now, but we have prefixes at the moment). Instead, I'm leaning towards a whole new content concept which I won't discuss here :) But I'm not sure what that list of engines will yet be (I have a strong preference for enterbrain software at the moment) and I'll have to think about going into 3D game makers...

I really don't know at this point. I think the most likely date is during my semester break which should be... late june early july. But its rather complicated as I'm use joomla 1.6 for the theme and we're currently using joomla 1.5 here, so it will probably take me a while to transfer the content that i can save. And I'll have to upgrade components such as the shop, project cards, chat etc. Its a big move. Glad you like :D It's one of the main features of the layout. Right now I'm trying to make the decision whether the right-hand sidebar appears globally or not. It may make the topic-view look odd and significantly increases the page length (Because obviously text doesnt stretch as far), but it has its advantages too.
