  1. You need autorun for intros really because under parallel process a person can push the arrow keys and move the player while the into is happening. You should upload your game for us to look through. Even better if you can make a duplicate and delete all the maps but the one you're talking about.
  2. @Clone: I think something's up with your internet. Firstly Kage, go into your joomla settings, goto Global Configuration, under the Site tab, you will find SEO settings. Set "Add suffix to URLs" to no. Its far better. Good work on finding a theme for both software. Interesting domain name also. I thought you had become an admin at their site again for a second there. Your goal should be to be placed above them in google searches for "rmvxp". Goodluck with your community.
  3. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply your post is pointless. I probably won't do anything major for a few months on the site, and I'm the only person who makes any changes, so... :( The survey for use in the future, and also to get a view of how things are currently. It's quite a positive poll. I actually ran out of questions, it needed to be far more detailed than that.
  4. Well, I didn't ban you I just had restrictions on your account. Your account was not in the banned usergroup. And I was aware you were sending PMs. Anywho, topic closed.
  5. Regret not PMing me? :P I banned your website account. Oops. You should be good now.
  6. Goodluck everyone. I voted for who I nominated, of course. Pol why pie? I mean, ice cream and cake are pretty much in the same class, pie is the odd one out. I just... i just dont get it.
  7. Yeah you were, but half it is the type of post/personality we have come to expect of you. I guess we have to agree to disagree on your post being relevant. From my point of view I was just stating my opinion, and things that didn't really need any elaboration, so it came off strange to me. But anyway, thats where we disagree. I didn't know you had a degree in marketing. I took marketing in university (just a course) and someone in family also has a postgrad in marketing. Anyway, if you guys check one of my posts above, I was just trying to get some feedback on some areas of the site. Ideas to spark activity where by no means my intention with this. I don't care about that at the moment. I may as well say that I have a pretty huge reform planned but not for a long while. It may be appropriate to promote a staff member to admin while I'm working over summer, and while I work on reforms, but sadly none are active enough. Kage, if you want to continue you can PM me, or post if you think its relevant.
  8. Haha, thanks for pointing that out. I make a lot of typos :sweatdrop:
  9. Lol I feel like you're arguing with me. Which I feel indifferent about. Not much to comment on, you didn't say many relevant things... I didn't create the facebook page, I made a topic bout that. It means something to me, however, you're just completely missing the point. I was going to not reveal how many hits we get. Then I thought 2 million sounded impressive. Only to the normal member of course. That would be under my goal if I were to set one. I do not set goals for hits of course.
  10. RIP pike river mine miners

This is really sad. I'll keep their family in my prays. Mine companies should take responsibility of their miners.

Yup. NZ Mining legislation is certain to go through a reform after this.

  11. SEO stands for search engine optimization. Friendly URLs are example, meta tags, page keywords etc. The site has nearly had 2 million pageviews this year according to google analytics.
  12. Moved to scripts requests. I doubt there is to be honest. Two different scripts changing the same thing are rarely compatible.
  13. If the domain fits it will hit and miss? What do you mean. The domain is just one part of SEO. Besides, I dont necessarily care about google rankings. Well I do of course, but at the moment our SEO is very good, and obviously things are working out how we'd like. I'll give the site every advantage possible, but there are other aways to get attention. In terms of the casino, which we do not even have, its just like the arcade but you have points to gamble with. They're just games. So to me it fits. Its just something to waste time on. Exactly right. New users are more useful than old ones for this actually.
  14. Which are? lol In regards to the first post you made, you're right about it all, but in terms of the survey I'm not really after any facts. I want to know what your impression is. If your impression is a site for RMXP and RMVX, then VX users are more likely to stay. So that is the purpose of the poll and what I'm looking to find out... In terms of the domain, I know enough about SEO. The fact is that we are going to support more than one engine, making the engine names in the domain impossible, and therefore we are disadvantaged by that. But that's where the disadvantage ends. I can get the site up there on goolge if the domain changes. Thanks for everyones votes! This poll is officially the most voted on poll in RMXPU history!
  15. Yes, I knew short domain names are preferred over short ones. I mean aside from that being obvious, I read it somewhere. :sweatdrop: Thanks for your suggestion, I quite like it :) I see i see. I hadn't taken into account engines, only that specific ones should be excluded from the domain name so that possibility of supporting more is an option. Not that its not an option.. its impossible to measure the impact of certain engine users of the domain. The decision to change the domain name is not because I think it deters non-rmxp users. A site named rpgmakerxp.com could still have any number of RMVX users. I won't be thinking about what engines we will support until way way down the track. That is if I were planning some kind of huge site reform. Which I didn't say I was. That's not to say I am.
  16. Gamedevunlimited.net seems to be really popular :) But, more ideas please! One bonus of another domain name is that I can work on the live site while this one still runs. Then on the day of the release I can turn this offline and transfer the database.
  17. As crimson said, though I could get into quite a complicated discussion about it. This will be a very compact reply, otherwise no one will read it. I do not want the site to be limited to any engine or class of engine. Its true that the majority of users use RMXP, but why does that mean we can't change that? The attempts so far have been hugely unsuccessful. But, if we want to change in the future, lets not aim small and attract as many enterbrain users as we can, lets get as many game developers as we can. Its possible to obtain an overlapping of skills of members. For example, a spriter in RMXP can sprite for RMVX and any other 2D programs. I composer can compose for any type of engine. I would also argue that if we cannot create a more active forum than what it is now with a random unrelated domain name, we may as well give up now. Again, its aiming too small. Search engines will not be a problem either as we got some nice SEO all across the site. What do you think, Ark?
  18. Over the last 2 years, MOTM winners have won by an average 44% of the votes.

    1. Marked

      Marked

Yeah tomo, you've won like 3 times.

    2. Polraudio

  19. I think Enigma is a guy, by the way  Perhaps we need to advertise MOTM more..
  20. Wow, no nominees. Well, I just finished going through the topics listed int he requests hook, and laansolo appeared to be helping out the most. So I have to nominate him, for activity, helpfulness and contribution. Looks like he may win by the default anyway.
  21. As many as possible :) I'll use this topic as a reference if I do decide to change it...which seems likely at the moment. Another thing. There are relevant names like gamedevunlimited which has obviously indicates game making, and our own 'unlimited' thingy. But I'd also like to consider a range of completely unique names. Like 1 or 2 words, like a brand type thing. The only example I can think of is the developer/designer website forrst. One word, pretty simple, but thats all thats needed. Its easier for your users to identify with.
  22. Nah, thats not worth credit. I'm glad we could help :)
  23. Well that is one way of saying it :) Just without any specific engine or class of engine. Thanks for you ideas :) Maybe we should have a poll to see what member like after enough time.
  24. Hey guys, The recent survey at the early stages has shown that the users do not want to change the domain name. And I am not saying that we will. But our current domain expires in February, and I may renew it, or I could just buy another. I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. So I'd like to get some names thrown around and see what we can come up with... If we were to change the domain, I don't want to have anything to do with an engine in it. For example, no rmvxunlimited, or even rmunlimited. If possible, I'd like the word 'unlimited' to be involved, just to keep some aspect of what we've had since we started. But it doesn't have to of course. And perhaps something to show we're game makers, not gamers. For example, the word 'dev' is useful. Ideas, go! You may make 1 word posts for this topic. Just throw some words around. :) Mark's wonderful list of domain name ideas:
