Ok then. Works fine for me. Also, the only place a topic icon will appear is at the top of the first post. They no longer appear when viewing the topic listing, although I may recreate that feature in those forums so members can see what topics have been resolved. Oh and also, only topics less than 2 weeks old will appear on the list.

Ah ok, I apologize for saying it was unrelated, I understand what it does now. I originally couldn't find the connection. I didn't know you weren't a native English speaker, so your English is perfectly fine. As for swearing, its not expressly mentioned in the rules, but its more about posting etiquette. You could argue all day about whether it should be against the rules or not, I think it should be in allowed in the debate and mature discussion forum, but I don't think its necessary inside of code lol. If you want to discuss it further PM me.

Good news :) I have successfully edited this and it works :) But first, do you know what terrain tags are? They are defined in the tileset tab in the database and are what makes the whole system work. Basically, you set any tile you dont want to be jumped to a terrain tag of 1(or another number, its defined in the script). Here's the script. When testing I set the jump distance to 4 and the minimum jump distance (a variable I added) to 2. So, say you're standing in front of a building (which has its tiles set to a terrain tag of 1) and you're standing 3 squares away from it, he will jump right to the wall. It would look way cooler if the min jump was set to 1. Hope this is what you wanted, just reply if you have any problems with it.

Hey rmxpman, welcome to RMXPUnlimited. Your event should look a little something like this:
-
I'm pretty sure thats easy. You work it out based on your characters coordinates and direction. Say if he's facing left, we're talking X, and say he's at X=4, Y=6. You got that variable already in the script, its pretty easy to do. So then to get the coordinates of the tiles we want to check for passibilty, well, you could do $i=[variable for players X or Y c] + 2 for($i < [variable for players X or Y c] + 2 + 8 ){ code to check passibilty, using $i as the X/Y coordinate, and the other constant coordinate if($i is passable){ break and return $i } $i++ } Actually that is kinda php but that's all I know :sweatdrop: but all of that is more or less the same in RGSS, above would be same. In fact I could probably write it if I knew how to return whether a tile is passable based on its coordinates.
-
I don't think its as complicated as it sounds. In RGSS its pretty simple to get your players X and Y coordinates and his direction, so all you have to do is check the passiblity of each of the 8 squares in front of him on all 3 layers and if there is an event there. Pretty pointless to say because I can't exactly do it :sweatdrop:

Hey guys, You may noticed a new hook on the board index that looks like this: This is a new idea we're trying out utilizing the prefix system. The idea is to promote support and requests topics to help as many members as we can. The topics are firstly categorized by their engine, then by their forum. For example, the first one is an RPG Maker XP RGSS Script request, the 2nd an RPG Maker XP Support topic. If you're confused about the icons and what they mean, just hover over them, as you can see in the screenie, and brings up a little caption. I'm not quite finished with the icons yet for the engines, but I haven't thoroughly sorted out the which prefix we're going to have in the long run. For example I need to add an "other" prefix, and I'm thinking about adding one for IGM and EGM too. Also a part of this system is the ability for mods to take a request off the list. This is done by editing the topic, going to the post icons, and setting the green tick as the post icon. This will mark it as solved and it will be taken off the recent requests list.
-
Valdred, that isn't related to his request. And don't name your aliases silly things.

Don't forget to rep :) I'll mark this topic solved..

Haha, its actually quite interesting how similar Chief and Kage are in terms of what they say and personality (as far as posting goes). Actually on a 2nd look a tend to agree with Cheif's first post. The XP grass suits the arshes sprite and hedge auto-tile better, but thats because they're made with the goal of the same style. So I'm not saying its better in terms of the grass tile by itself.

I don't really want it to die by itself, I'd much rather go out on a high. But we'll see what happens. I'm much more organized these days and I'm even active with 1 week until my finals, which hasnt happened since I started it  Actually I had my first ever school exams the first year I started the site. We're old. But yeah, I'm not too concerned with activity, perhaps not as much as I should be. I want people making games and to help members with their games... These days, I'd much rather take suggestions from members and let it evolve.
-
That's some nice grass there, Kage. Very similar to XP's actually. I've seen a few members attempt this and it must be pretty hard to do, coz rarely I see anyone get it looking good.

The issue with a post requirement is that it gives members an incentive to spam to get to what they want. For example we made a 10 post requirement to access the Downloads Manager, and the next day there were members who necro-posted one-liners and disappeared after they had reached exactly 10 posts. I made it as easy as possible for guests to access as much as they like so not so many people would register. Most of the content on the site is open to guests, all except the downloads manager and script downloads in the archives. I think its the frontpage, rmxpunlimited.net/. For me, that is really slow sometimes. Since I coded most of it, I may be able to fix it up :sweatdrop: For me, the forums are quick.

As an admin I'm too concerned just yet. Building on from synchronicity's post, looking at the hall of fame, there were 36 members who made posts in the last 7 days, which isn't too bad. I think the staff should focus a little bit on retaining members, and we've made some steps already towards that. For example: I am working on this before making is viewable to everyone. It will basically allow members who need help or scripts/resources to get more attention to their topics. Once the topic is complete, a mod will edit the topic description and that will remove it from the list. So what we're hoping this does is retain new members by getting more attention to their topics. Anyway, Mr highest-post-per-day seems to be too busy for us these days
-
Wyzrd for activity and helpfulness.

Looks cool. What engine are you using? I thought it was too big for XP, but since I get the feeling its another engine? Glad someone knows how to use the prefixes correctly :)
-
Certainly not with the relationship, but you have to ask yourself how much you're going to take before you decide enough is enough. However we know so little facts about the situation, to say walk out on them may be unnecessary. I only say that though for the sake of not giving bad advice, my opinion is that they are cruel and never look back once you leave them behind. The effects that this (neglect and demeaning) could potentially have, how could they be so oblivious to that? Either they're stupid or monsters. Either way is bad, and I don't think there is an excuse for it whatsoever.

Wow New Zealand must have quite a reputation. If any of you guys want to come to New Zealand, I'd be happy to show you around Christchurch (2nd biggest city) :D Yup thats right. Don't let them get you down.

If it were me, I'd leave. Other members suggest looking for a solution to get your parents talking to you again. But I can't find a context where it acceptable firstly to make fun of your daughter about what they did (as you said in your other topic) and then ignoring you completely without justification. I would not forgive them... but that is bad advice, unless they are as bad as I think they are. Although once you don't live together, its much easier to get along. Also with your siblings, I also find that a bit strange. In my family sibling loyalty comes way before parent loyalty.

Shuxion, support topics go in Game Making Support. This is important because when you use that forum you have to prefix your topic with what engine you're using. So is this for RMXP or RMVX? (seeing your profile I'll assume XP and move and prefix it).
-
You really need to leave home as soon as you can, and never, ever talk to you parents again. I remember your other topic. I feel sorry you have the parents you do. They truly are horrible human beings and I really hope karma comes around and screws them over.

Looking for a alright side battle system
Marked replied to Son_Of_Light's topic in General Game Development
No problem :) Is the topic solved ? -
It's pretty difficult when you lose interest in Game making, I guess you have to really like the forums to stick around, so I think its probably pointless in trying to convince you otherwise. I would have left ages ago. From your last post, I take it as you're starting to change your mind :)

Wow Crimson, its not my topic but even I'll +rep you for that. Good work :)
