Chief is correct, they're called search bots or spiders. Because they crawl websites. On the 2nd of July when we made that record, there were just 8 posts that day. It's pretty difficult to explain. I think perhaps it was more than just coincidence. I think there may have been a bulk email or something around that time, that may have done it.

Yeah and also there is a new content link in the breadcrumbs, view new content link in the board panel and "Today's active content" link in the board stats header. @Kiriashi: Basically what I said to Franklin: I worked pretty hard on the archives. So I don't want kill them so soon. Google is an integral part in maintaining traffic, and taking away some of our most viewed content isn't the best thing. To get started on this topic, I have to upgrade the scripts archive articles and then have to setup individual redirects to stop 404's. We're going a bit off topic here though. Lets try to keep it to suggestions for the community. :) I'll make a blog entry soon.

Ok, here it is: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/forum/175-official-tutorials/ For our best tutorials. To get in here the tutorial must be well presented and written, and of course useful. The idea is to make a small exclusive archive on only the best tutorials. Another reason to do this is to move the class tutorials (which im yet to do) and also centralize our tutorials. What I'm trying to do is move all the forums from the website and tutorials from the forums tutorial section (the mod) onto the forums in the form of topics. Our RMXP tutorials have been here since 08, so I have set up redirects so I can remove the articles and everyone will still be able to get to the tuts from search engines. I may need some members to help choose which tuts deserve to go in here.

Maybe :P I suppose it is a lot of work, though only person can create the projects section. There's a million minor things that need to be done really, and key is doing the little things right. To be honest, topics like these and feedback from members is such a big help. Since my time has become very limited relative to the old days and I dont use RMXP anymore or VX, I really can't do it on my own.

Oh, that. Haha yeah but I didn't call them project profiles. This unfortunately is far down the list on my todo list. There are more important things to first, but mainly just cleaning up and optimizing the forums. This is a huge task and requires a fair bit of coding on my part. I think I can take the challenge on though. I was use speicial software to do it, the same as what our scripts archive use. However the issue is that the version of the this software has changed, and to upgrade would mean to lose our scripts archive. Although i beleive its possible to convert. But I have to learn this software over again since the new version is a complete rewrite. So as you can see, its a big task. The downloads manager also has to be fixed first too.

Nope! Haha, seriously what are they? I've been working on cleaning up the menus. And just finished like 60 redirects to finally remove the old archives from the menus. And I reinstalled the hook that shows members in the chatroom. Seriously you need to tell me what project profiles are. If it was mentioned in this topic, link me :)

Correct me if I'm wrong. But if what you're saying is keep rmxpunlimited.net and have other domains redirect to this one, then that does nothing. If the other domains are never used then no members will ever end up there to be redirected here. Right? As for meta-descriptions, IPB has been working a lot on this and I also use a nice mod which allows me to edit meta descripts and keywords for each forum and topic. Very useful. Also joomla is already quite developed in that area. We do very well in search engines I think. Well, google is by far our main source of traffic. The problem with adding other keywords is that we may get users we don't want. And by that I mean we will get users who're looking for content we don't have. What we need to do with meta-descriptions is use the right keywords to attract members who are looking for the content we do have. Alright, I'm going to start :) Keep an eye out for entries in the dev blog.

Yeah actually I was annoyed. I had 3 exams in the past 2 days. I'm not slacking. Anyway, I tested this with a member test account and it seemed to work. Those skin related errors are so troublesome, but I seem to be able to do it fine. I run some skin tools, Franlin can you try again? P.S. Happy Birthday Formlesstree4!

Well I can set something up for you guys if you want to mess with the software. There is little need to know code really. I know php enough to understand most code I look at, but I have never been able to fix a modification that causes an error. All the mods are written using IPB's framework which I particularly dislike. Though I did write the menu, not sure if there has been a menu in an IPB forum that uses joomlas database. :) Anyway, yes this place is horrible. I mean, a half finished skin. Links that lead to empty sections. Several hundred support topics in tools and utilities. This place needs a massive cleanup. :yes:

This sounds like a really good offer :) Do you have any work you can show off? To be honest though Clone, Php has been an interest of mine since I first started learning it for this site last year. Since my knowledge and ability has grown exponentially, and as you know, I've started writing a personal website that you host. And I plan to release it to the public too. Everything I have attempted so far I have been able to accomplish, regularly posting for help on forums. And each time I attempt to write a component for the site I learn a lot. So of course I do want to do things myself. But if there's a specific thing you want to write for us, I'm sure that is fine. But as a programmer for the site, at this stage, I'm working on making that my main role here. Though I think a partnership would definitely be beneficial, we're still a rather small place with little need for many components. Many sections of the site are highly underused. Another thing is the software. You know what we use and from memory I think you have looked at the website framework, but do you know anything about the forum softwares framework? Most applications would have to be written within them.

Yeah but not like this one. To make these sort of stats into a stats page would be like a timeline whereas that page is cumulative over the entire time we've been up. What I was thinking is to have a whole bunch of graphs that show monthly stats. But unlike the hall of fame, cut out a lot of boring/unnecessary parts. I was also thinking of having a members activity graph which shows what the hours you post most often are. Kind of like googles thing when you look at your webhistory (if you use google logged into gmail).

I can't think of a playable villian in an RPG.. In DBZ, vegita and {the green guy} were bad guys who eventually became good. The problem with villians in DBZ is that they want to kill everything, so..

The downloads manager has always been a pain... I finish on the 17th... in 2 days. But I'd have no problem promoting a member to admin, if they knew how to fix it. If it's a big game, yeah, unlikely to work. I done a fair bit of research but had no success so far. But I'll definitely get to fixing the downloads manager. A real shame it doesn't function properly.

You should know that by now Franklin... Though I'll admit the menu system is very inefficient and clustered. I was meaning to finish it but I got real busy immediately after finishing the new theme.
