  1. My initial thoughts are that I cannot do all of these, or not without them being intrusive to the general forum usage, but so far some good ideas. I especially like the idea of the sig limit. Keep the ideas flowing. :) And also, who wants to draw a layout ? :)
  2. The arcade is coming soon. I am still waiting for the version compatible with this software to be completed.
  3. Agreed, lets have some real debate and proper reasoning.
  4. There are actually categories, check the rules. The link is in the first post. If you think there are another projects going around for a project of the month, then go ahead and send me a PM.
  5. Good question, its actually up to you guys to decide. There are classic forum shops around the web that I'll probably have to look up before i start this. Its just another thing for users to do when they're bored i suppose. Its just something to use the points, like a currency. There will be no resources or anything like that, those things are for the community.
  6. Hello RMXPUers. I'm thinking about creating a shop to use with the points. Some users have asked what can we do with them? So far they have basically been used to measure the members activity and post length. Since I completed the userpanel, I need another small project. That is, while im waiting to continue my really big project :) This topic is for you guys to post your suggestions/designs for the shop system :)
  7. I don't think any light is being shed on prostitution. Because of course these are your values, but others have the opposite values. My first post answers this question. I also looked up what percentage of Americans are christian, and the vast majority identify themselves as christian(although of course not necessarily practice it)
  8. As some of you know, in New Zealand it is legal and it's fine. I think I even heard stories of some prostitutes doing their own tax, but probably just a story. It is pretty much unregulated apart from the age requirement, which is the legal sex age. I think there was a public vote (referendum) on the matter, but I'm not certain about that. I'm not in the US so I probably cannot contribute much to the argument. However in NZ, most of the people that I know of are not really religious or practice a religion. And I hear in the US that the majority of the people are Christian? I'm not sure, but what I'm trying to say is that such values will make it impossible to make it legal, the people just won't want it. So based on the psychology of it, prostitution should not be made legal in the US. In saying that, if it were everyones religion to NOT eat cheese, I'd recommend making it illegal too. See what I'm getting at? There's nothing necessarily wrong with the thing made illegal, its whether its within the peoples values and whether or not it is socially desirable.
  9. I second that nomination. I was going to post under Most Active and Contributor. The month is simply to categorize the MOTM. It doesn't matter when it is started, because each is the same distance a part. It's not like members nominate other members based one whatever they've done from the 1st, at least I hope not. So I don't think changing the nomination and voting dates will have much effect. @POL: The module on the homepage is working :)
  10. Better? I also spoilered your image so it doesn't stretch the page.
  11. I'm relieved to hear that :) I actually saw your post using it. All your topic replies are immediately viewable on the homepage. I just fixed the issue if you dont have any content for any of the columns. The BBCode seems to have stoped working on the website, Ill have to fix that.
  12. Hey everyone, its been a while since the last update. Today I'm going to rush the first release of the UserPanel, mentioned in the Feedback forum. This topic will replace that one. As this is a very rushed release, I'm sure that it is very buggy and you all have a few suggestions for it. It definitely was a challenging task to create. Each panel has up to 30 separate bits of information squeezed into a small space. The reason for rushing the release is because its nearly 10pm on a Sunday night, and the next time i get the opportunity to work on it could be many days away. Sorry I can't be more active :( I won't list the features, you guys can check them out for yourself. To see the panel, you must be logged in and it is on the homepage. One cool feature is the ability to enable and disable the panel. Its not really cool at all, but its the first time I have added database information for a component. The reason for the enabling and disabling is because in some browsers I suspect it will not display properly. I design everything in firefox and a 1028x728 resolution, the most common user specs here, to ensure maximum compatibility. So if it doesn't work, just disable it. If you're using firefox and it doesn't work, then post here. NOTE: At the moment the userpanel only takes comments from blogs and profiles. Like i said, this is rushed. I'm going to add comments from downloads, images and tutorials soon. Also if you do not have content for all 3 columns, its going to act funny, but i plan to fix this very soon... In other news, we have a new category in the Image Gallery. It's called Video Game Series So basically you upload your RPG Maker resources from anime, video games etc. Special thanks to RATED-RKOFRANKLIN who came up with the idea. Lastly is Kiriashi's News. Yeah, he managed to convince me of allowing him to post articles which will appear on the homepage. So both his topics, and my topics in the announcement forum(for example, this topic) will both be displayed on the homepage. The lastest topic is displayed, but his topics are only viewable on the homepage until a later topic is made. Make sense? I'm not sure yet what he'll be writing about... But sure it'll be entertaining and full of substance :)
  13. Every module in the sidebar can be recreated. And as for new posts, there is an identical new posts module on the homepage, and a global "new content" button in the header. And by the way, the recent posts is only in the sidebar for the benefit of guests. I do think it makes members lazy and causes them to miss posts, but I think its necessary for the guests to have to navigate. But yeah, it is up to you guys. Oh and I think that the user panel I'm currently working on will help too. Here's a preview:
  14. This is topic is for voting on whether to keep the forum sidebar or to remove it. The topic is labeled referendum because the result of the poll will decide whether the sidebar is kept or not. Personally I don't particularly like the sidebar, it takes up too large of a chunk from the forum index. It is also a distinguishable feature of the forum software, and I like to be far away from default. Also if the sidebar were to be removed, the status box will be relocated.
  15. I like your username :)

  16. If you could spend the day with one rmxpu member in real life, who would it be and why?
  17. I made a topic for this not long ago, hopefully you'll find one you like: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/topic/3912-resource-generators/
  18. Thanks for your input :) I don't there is a way to subscribe actually, apart from RSS which I find pointless. But you could add it to iGoogle that way :)
  19. Wow it's already been a week since the last reply. I have just started work on this. But having looked at how I'm going to do it, it's proving much more difficult than I originally thought. Its really going to test my database knowledge. I've decided due to a massive lack in space (the website must support 1028xheight, so it is very limited) that I'm going to restrict this to 3 sections. New posts in topics, PMs and component comments from Download files, images, blogs and tutorials. At first I thought the idea of displaying topics that the member has 'starred' in was impossible. For most of the stuff I've made here, I'm just pulling info from the Database that isn't really displayed by the software, and of course that kind of thing isn't stored anywhere. But here's my idea. I could make this thing display a topic where one of the two conditions are met(where you are not the topic author): 1. Your posts account for over 20% of the posts where the topic has more than 5 posts. 2. You have 5 or more posts in a topic that has more than 25 posts. So these conditions are trying to decide if you 'star' in the topic that is not your own. With option 1 you have a lot of posts, so you are probably interested in new posts in that topic. Option 2 may be confusing to some. This is to catch very popular topics. For example, if you post 5 times in a topic with 30 posts, option 1 will not pick it up. However you may be interested in new posts in this topic as you have a decent amount of posts in there already. Option 2 will pick these up and chuck them in your userpanel.
  20. Hi all, I haven't made a Dev Blog entry in a while, but trust me there are many things being developed. I'll try to keep this one short. This is about completing website-forum integration, visually. At the moment the integration is very efficient, we can share database information back and forth between the website and the forum as if they were one software. It could be better, but it works. But it does at times look weak mainly due to the fact that the two look completely different. So the idea of this to make it look like you never leave the forum, or the website. In fact it will confuse you where exactly you are. Because they'll look nearly identical. There are two levels of theme integration: Header only: This involves only integrating the header of the forums. The logo, menu, and userbar. As shown here: Full Integration This involves changing all of the website styles and images to replicate that of the forum. This is where I will try and confuse you if you're on the forum, or website. Coz it'll look the same. Now here's a tricky question. If I go ahead and attempt this, if will obviously be using the forum skin. However, this will be a very permanent investment. It will take many days to complete and therefore I would keep the same theme for at least 6 months, if not longer. Although I feel the current skin is now our trademark, would you guys want a skin change? Or should we stay with the current skin(granted I tweak it to make it look extra pretty) ? To summarize the blog questions -Full or header-only integration ? -Integrate the current forum skin, or a new one ?
  21. Well, this is mildly depressing. Its pains me to inform you all, we have a had a music section for years and years now. Here is the music section in the Downloads Manager: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/files/category/1-audio-downloads/ You can choose from uploading all of your files into a compressed archive, or upload them individually. Due to the music sections wild unpopularity and apparent invisibility capabilities, I haven't yet decided whether to drop the individually RPG Maker categories, or have just one category for every audio download(individual files and packs). So, if you would like to upload your works here, its up to you which you want to choose. Also, I have no idea if this works, but I think you can upload multiple files within your download file using the flash uploader(this is a new feature). So you select each file when you click browse(when uploading a file), and each one will upload and you can see each files progress as it does. You really need to try it yourself. Of course you can use the flash uploader by changing your settings here: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/index.php?app=core&module=usercp Your music would be a wonderful addition to the downloads manager :) EDIT: I made a screenshot to better explain multiple file uploads. The following shoes many multiple files being uploaded simultaneously, displaying an upload progress bar, using the flash upload: I hope you and everyone else isn't completely confused by this post..
  22. I was going to make a note about spamming...but i see this is in the spam forum.........
