  1. It won't be anywhere near as good as XP but they aren't exactly for the same types of things. Its not exactly a serious game maker..or at least I wouldnt I think so. You dont use a console to make a serious game, do you? I think they'll release a patch for the english version, like they did with postility knights. Probably be able to use it on an emulator. But that's illegal so I know none of you will consider that :)
  2. The file saved in a temp directory? Sounds like you clicked on "Open file" when the download box came up. I have it installed. All I did was run Setup.exe and pretty much keep clicking next. Have you got that far? Here's the link to the setup file, although you should have this somewhere on your computer: http://download.tkool-online.com/Setup.zip
  3. Thank you for the reply! :) I like your suggestions. Members seem to be keen on submitting themes, so there's a bunch more to come. I also added 2 more today. A preview of the final image before generation is an interesting idea... of course I would want to do that, I just don't know how. Perhaps ajax? I will have to research it, but hopefully I can get it working! As for .jpg, I definitely played around with this. I originally used PNGs and the filesize was up around 100kb(depending on the theme). I could decrease the quality, but it ended up being worse the jpg. Since these are made for forums, i made the decision to use jpgs. I think this is the best way to meet in the middle with quality and filesize. Im also going to try and add some of the user suggested features which include font selection and the ability to upload your own themes.
  4. Sure thing, but I don't want to clutter it with themes. So give your best ones and I'll add them in :) WHO??? :shok: Your loyalty lies with RMXPUnlimited!! Haha I'm just kidding, welcome back emily. Ok everyone, I have an update for you. The next version of the Project Card Generator is out! Special thanks to Chief (for the theme he made) and CrimsonInferno for making me make a theme viewer. And her themes should be added in there soon. With the new version you can view the themes BEFORE you generate the image. They do take a while to load, but they have to reasonably high quality because they are actual themes used in the image generation. In the next version I will make an advanced theme system where it will simply read the image directory. There are also some new VX themes made by me. I'm really pleased people are using these in their signatures :)
  5. I saw the episode a couple of days ago and also a video of what Palin said on it. I've seen family guy make cancer jokes, but this is more specific. Palin has a son with down-syndrome, and family guy is (sortof) making fun of that. To make this post short, I dont think she was overreacting. They also played a clip of Palins daughter commenting on the episode. If it were my brother that they were directly taking the piss out of, I would just lose it. Its funny for normal people whos lives haven't been affected by an incurable disease(their own or immediate family members), because lets face it, you just dont know what its like. It's nearly impossible to put yourselves in someones shoes if you havent been there yourself, so I would expect most people to say she is overreacting. I'm just saying, if i was in the same position i would be more than pissed off. But I'm not, so i couldn't care less.
  6. Welcome to Unlimited Lato. :)
  7. Personally I do not have any bias towards race when it comes to women, there are attractive women in all races. I think it is a bit odd to not be attracted to women of your own race, but who really cares about race. Its a preference thing. You can't really choose what your attracted to. So i dont think its a big deal. And music and that kind of stuff is culture, completely unrelated to race. I really think American culture is much different to that of a lot of African cultures.
  8. Well to be honest, I can actually decide what the Member Effectiveness value is because i can choose which stat modules give you points, and how many points each rank gives you from those modules. I have made it so rank #1 gives you heaps of points. The points gap is like this: 1-----2----3---4--5-6. During the development of this, 3 members have had the highest member effectiveness value while I changed the formula, added modules, etc. Not that you guys even know who no.1 is anyway :P
  9. Marked

    How do I upload?

Sounds to me like you need to compress your project into one file so you can upload it. Like this: And then you upload the .zip file to the uploading website.
  10. Welcome to RMXPUnlimited :bye:
  11. According to the stats, RMXPirate is 12th member registered(but members have been pruned in the past). He used to be an active staff member here, and there are actually quite a few members we'll never see again high on the lists. :) I have a bunch of ideas. Thanks to isaacsol I'm starting my super secret advancedly integrated CCK powered project. I may talk about it in my blog some time... Haha, you're so proud arn't you? There are 3 others that are around that number, but that gap between no.4 and no.5 is large. And there's no way I'm telling you mine :P
  12. Franklin, his old account name is Hebi Kumo.
  13. Welcome back friend, I support you completely for with your decision :)
  14. I am announcing the first release of the Hall Of Fame component. This has actually been a big project of mine which started at the beginning of the month, but obviously hasn't been worked on in the last week. I rushed it along so I can release it today, so I will only add requested stats modules from now on. Despite its simpleness, the code of this is one of the smartest I have written. Each module consists of all the same attributes built from a single function. So the modules are 60+ lines of coding each, and replicated for each module. This component is dedicated to the legends of RMXPUnlimited, and all the rest of our loyal members. It has some cool features, mainly for members who are logged in. Here is a typical stat module: I have highlighted all the main features of this one. You see the little icon on the top-right corner? This means that you get points towards your Member Effectiveness value(a misleading-titled variable which I'll explain further into the post). This symbol is only shown on the modules where Usernames are displayed, but I have disabled it in some modules to make things fair(for example, in the Top X First Members module). Now down at the bottom it shows me my ranking in the module. Its a little useless for me as I can see it in the module, but this is useful for members who cannot see their ranks inside the module. To save on loading time, only members who rank within the top100 places will have their rank displayed. Another cool feature in this component is that you have options of how many ranks to show. The default is 10, but there are options at the top to show 5,10,20 and 50. You can actually show how ever many you like by altering the URL. For example: breakpoint=100 will display 100 records. At the bottom of the page you will see a nice big shiny number, this is your member effectiveness value. You get points from each of the stats modules(remember, only ones with the little symbol in the top-right corner) depending on your ranks. The amount of points you get increases exponentially as your rank increases. For example, rank 100 and 99 and almost the same. But rank 1 is a bit less than double the points of rank 2. Make sense? Of course it does. Its quite a handy formula, I can choose how exponentially the points increase. Its also impossible for anyone to calculate anyone else values, which is good because I think they should remain private. The last thing to explain is the User Title, which is at the very bottom of the page. This is based on your average points per stats module, so the member with the highest member effectiveness value does not necessarily have the highest average(and in fact I know that this is the case). The ranks are amazing(exclusive to the top 3 highest ranked members), Great(top 10), good, average and newbie. However, this is not completely accurate, but I think its a cool feature. Special thanks to evil cabbage, Polraudio and miguel1 for their suggestions for stats modules. If you guys would like any added, this is the place to suggest them. Although I can only add things that are stored in the database, so I cannot fulfill every suggestion. Hope you guys like it :) PS: Check out this announcement on the homepage... Of course everyone noticed this, but now we have bbcodes on the site.
  15. They are all nice, thank you for submitting them. I agree with Chief, however the only thing preventing us from having 100 themes is not being able to view them before generating the image. So I'm going to have change how it works. I'll work on this tonight, somehow I'll come up with a way to display each theme without having to generate the image. Then I will add your themes. 50 images generated so far :)
  16. Looks cool, theme RedWood added. I'm going to have to come up with a method to show the themes before the image is generated.
  17. Nice, good use of the logo feature. @Chief: I would be happy to add any additional themes. Here's a template for you: This image shows you everything that the user can generate. So what I did was change the transparency and build the theme around this template.
  18. @Joey: Hey, its not that simple. But I'm not going to go into details. I honestly expected the site up within days. Yeah I'm really sorry it took so long...but i did make some stuff for you guys to make up.. :( And there is so much more cool stuff in the works...literally will keep me busy for a month. But it will be slow going, or at least I hope for the sake of the start of my second year at uni starting monday. I'm really happy to see the project cards in your signatures :) I was skeptical people would like them. Especially some of the themes, the only one i really like is default. darkcieran, the 100% goes outside of the box in your project card. I'll fix the theme up soon so it can be fixed.
  19. If you want to create the project, and time and difficulty is your main obstacle, I say don't give up. Motivation plays a big role in Game Making, right? Computer failure and losing all your data is huge motivation killer. This is just my opinion, but I've always sort of been against teams. Most that I have seen always seem to break down. And its so frustrating when newbies on the forum request a team for their first project in RPG Maker. Self sufficiency is the key to success, and motivation makes up a decent part of self sufficiency. Without a team you do need a wider range of skills. But when you think about it, the very first RPG's were completely text based, right? No fancy graphics or battle systems. So when you think about it, you could make a great game through dialogue without all the fancy scripts, sprites etc. that you may or may not have the skills to create. I tend to think some people in the RPG Maker community go crazy with a need for customizations and scripts, and destroy their projects with incompatibility in the 100+(slight exaggeration) scripts they chuck in there. But that is newbie stuff. The project that a person creates for the second time after losing all their data always comes out better. If you have the motivation to start your project again, I say go for it. Hopefully posting on the forum can boost your motivation to create this project.
  20. Chatroom Chatroom, the glorious chatroom. Linky: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/index.php/chat.html Its not an IRC, but why are those things so popular anyway? Coz u can access it off the website? I dunno, I don't know too much about that stuff. I'm very anti-social in life and internet. Ok this chatroom has bunch of nice features, but one of the reasons I chose this one is that it's member integrated. When I finally re-integrated the forums with the site I think a lot of members were thinking so what? And fair enough, there wasn't a whole bunch different. That's slowly changing with the stuff I'm starting to create. When you use the chatroom you have your username of course, but guests can also come in and chat as well. But they cannot change their nicknames. And to kill the trollin' guests (if any) you can switch channels which is for registered users only. There's a bunch of other nifty features as well. Additionally I created my first IPB hook, which displays who are in the chatroom: I was chatting to Franklin on msn and i said to him, i've always wanted to have the online chat users displayed on the board index, but I have no idea how to do that. As it turns out, that's coz I never tried before :B): Well actually I was astonished when this worked. Now, this hook will only display members active in the last 2 minutes. It quite simply takes your logged time from the database and sees if you've been online in the last 2 minutes. Project Card Generator Link: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/index.php/project-cards.html This is my 3rd component developed on the website, and this time it is not user-orientated. This turned out a lot better than I expected. I had the idea and its a great feeling bringing your ideas to life. You know those little things users have in their signatures about the progress of their games? I didn't know what they were called so I just named them Project Cards. This component is cool. You use the form to input the title of your game and the progress of each section of your game, and it will generate an image and the bbcode to use for you. Its cool. Optionally you can choose a theme(most are lame :pinch: ), the URL for your image to link, and you can even upload your projects logo and have it in the image. Heres an example image generated from the form: The code for creating the bars is quite cool, and surprisingly accurate too. For example, if you enter 55%, you get 6 bars. If you enter 54, you get 5 bars. So it rounds to the nearest 10 and gives a very accurate reading of bars. And then she'll calculate your average percentage and give you an overall progress on your game. It uses really simple code to get the values, the cool thing about it is that it all does it by drawing the image. Oh, and I should credit Hadriel for the bars. I stole them from his signature on a way cool forum he created and affiliated with us in 2006. Since its like 4 years ago, I think he'll let it slide... Suggestions? Hope you guys like the new stuff.
  21. Great, thanks isaac ^_^ I'm also going to go through and clean up unneeded tables, entries and logs.
  22. Give it time, its only been 12 hours. I finally got the other thing to work that i was working on during the downtime. A hook on the board index which shows members chatting in the last 2 minutes: 10 points for the first member to find the chatroom
  23. Thank you Leon, I appreciate the offer. I am confident that this won't happen again, and I will make sure things are organized next time round.
  24. Welcome back everyone, I apologize for the downtime which lasted just under 8 days. The reasons include my own negligence and a severe case of Murphy's law. Hopefully we can pick up where we left off. I did let some of you guys know on our Twitter, Youtube and a few of you guys on MSN, but of course it took a lot longer than what I said. So I apologize for that, I was saying what I myself expected. But I'm glad so many people queried about it. However the downtime is not without benefits, I have several new things ready for install, and many which will start production soon. The first is something that I prepared for when the forum came up, sortof like an apology gift. I did a little bit of research on dynamic images for this. This little component is called Project Card Generator: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/index.php/project-cards.html It 'dynamically' creates these: Again, apologizes for all the time and welcome back. :alright: For more info on the Project Card Generator & Chatroom, check out my latest blog entry: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/blog/29/entry-79-chatroom-project-card-generator/
  25. @joey: On your other votes, did you get this message: You already voted for this Poll today! It looks like you have voted twice except for a slight difference in the text. I suspect this happened. If you use a different IP, of course you are going to be able to vote again. This is how the system differentiates voters and logs whether they can vote within the timeframe set(which is every 24hrs per IP). Since we allow guests to vote, its the only way we can ID them. So you should be able to vote every 24hrs, assuming your IP remains the same.
