  1. There's a difference between safe, legal, and technically illegal. Usually safe = technically illegal. And btw doods, I literally finished back my IP exam, including copyright, 12 mins ago :P (back in the lib studying for the nek one :D )
  2. The US are using NZ legislation as a copyright experient - people who share files P2P here get 3 strikes and on the third the copyright owner can obtain damages. It's been a miserable failure. I don't think there's sufficient legislation yet for this, but there's been tons of publicity on government threats to do so (obviously). I can link you to NZ cases but its not that interesting, only copyright holders of musical works that were seeded from torrents have been through the court.
  3. Embarking on the epic challenge of divulging 260 pages of notes over 2 days in 5.5 hours / 2 exams. Lets do this.

That's no problem, if it's non-commercial its fine. If it were commercial I'd recommend contacting the uploader. I need to sort out the CC licenses for uploads ASAP so people are clear on their usage rights.
  5. What's the problem? :yo: ...You're not a bot phishing for emails are you? That'd be an interesting way to do it. If I programmed a bot, I'd go to IPB forum urls like /index.php?showeruser=1 and take the email addresses from there if I wanted admin's email addresses. EDIT: yeah that was a bot, and I killz'd him.
  6. I disagree that this is a flaw. Based on your assumption that the site won't get more contributors, we can simply omit that category if no one is nominated that month. The system doesnt fail if there's a lack of nominees, and when there's not, it's better than having a single "who is the best member this month" category.
  7. It's been a long time since I learned this lol (not long after our EQ in 2011) but the deal here that cops have an implied license to enter property insofar to make contact with you. A big ass sign saying "DO NOT ENTER" or "NO TRESPASSING" will revoke that license, the license will be express if you invite them in. If the copper knocks on your door and there's no answer, he may be able to go around the house in an attempt to find you. This contact is of course when you're under no suspicion of committing a crime of course. I think if he saw u d00ds breaking the law it could be used as evidence so long as the implied license wasn't breached (i think). That's position in NZ. I reckon peering through the window is a breach of the license though. But that's a really limited situation, you def get a warrant if you're out to catch people. A judge def wouldn't issue a warrant for a minor crime because invading someone's house is very serious.
  8. Do even know where to find them? I'm pretty sure you can. You can't approve them in the current resources section coz literally I whipped that up super quick and it's just my own script using our old gallery's database tables. If that makes sense. So they exist both in the new and old resources sections and can only be approved in the previous one eg http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/gallery/category/8-tilesets/
  9. Ah that's weird, I approved them :)
  10. *throws PM at Darkcieran's head* Lol you guys, phionabrie can say her perspective isn't useful if she wants. Besides, this topic is about recruitment :3 I AM JOINING THIS PROJECT. As publisher.

Great, everything is set up, tested and working. It will take a few days for Google to change the search results. I also suspect that Google picks up whether or not you have a human face for a profile pic, but we'll find out. Here's the query to check if the pic comes up: https://www.google.com/search?q=Icon Items v1.0, RPG Maker XP rm unlimited

EDIT: After a bit of Googling, seems fairly clear that it has to be a reasonably clear image of a persons face. So its about to you if you want that. I think it will show "By Luke D" in the search results with a link to view more by you.

  11. 170 pages of lec notes to memorize in 3 days. Challenging at least..

  12. Ok but technically, technically, I gave an express instruction of a very specific time. @Ark: Dood, I have 3.25 days to memorize 170 pages for a 3 hour exam. Aint no got time for this, unless it was on the aforementioned Friday evening.
  13. That's a fundamental part of the theory of evolution. A defect decreases the chances of survival and therefore natural selection, over a period of time that most can't comprehend, will get rid of them. That's if they had a defect. The chance of a defect would also decrease because people would become more distantly related to each other. The problem with trying to understand it is that most people think of several generations but shit changes much slower than that.
  14. That's why they get away with it; it doesn't affect the majority so they stay quiet but it could happen to you, and your fundamental right of having your day in court won't save you, therefore nothing will. Sometimes I feel like I would like to leave my country solely to stop funding the dirty bastards, but that's probably not a valid reason :P The more you care about politics the more you hate your country.
  15. I considered doing that, but then I thought, wow I'm lazy... (I'm actually busy with exams) But either way its way easier if there's nice blue link in the post. I see you used the old project cards thingy, I'm considering bringing that back soon :) (im the most creative person you'll ever met a few days out from an exam)
  16. That's ok, go my nominees! :3 I like the new system. Definitely adds more to it.
  17. Bro, its in the rules that you link to your Monstructs game. Can you do that so I don't have to go searching for it? EDIT: Owait we don't have rules. I mean to say that its recommend as per the forum description.
  18. Technically its a criminal prosecution so its even worse because it is the state/government who is imposing the penalties on you. A cop could peak through the window of your house and witness your illegal acts and you could get done for it (its actually probably trespassing if they do that though). Intellectual property law has majorly fallen short in the light of new technology and the inappropriate influence of hollywood (and therefore the US on other countries) is not providing any decent solutions and clearly disproportionate and un-innovative protection measures. Thus piracy
  19. Pretty sure he's long gone. Dude I got an idea though. He's what I do right. You create a game in this hypothetical games section. You can then list positions avaliable in a team and so ALL the projects looking for people will show up in a single page where peps can look for projects to join. And if people want to keep recruiting, they have to "renew" the position each time, so only people who are active (and serious) will show up. *throws corgies at bigace* That's an unfriendly way to point out he probably didn't see the date.
  20. Lol I have an intellectual property law exam in 7 days and we touched on such things. First of all, in yank land you can go to jail forever for nothing so whatever. The person who wrote 1 year in jail for less than $500 should jump off a building or strap a bomb to his chest and blow up the rest of the idiots trying to get this stuff passed into law. Actually american citizens should. Hollywood admits that it funds your current government, and this sort of bullshit is itself criminal. No jail time whatsoever. Jail is for morally wrong crimes and there is nothing morally wrong about the conduct in question. Literally almost nothing. Of course people will disagree, but who has ever felt bad about downloading a movie/series? The likely case is that you're not even making their monster profits any less, at all. The fundamental issue with hollywood and entertainment is the industries refusal to adapt. Hollywood called the VCR the devil because they thought it would be the end of them; it made them HUGE profits. It is up to them to adapt and make content available to people hwo would otherwise have to pirate it. #kimdotcom4president

  22. Haha... If I had my time over I would do things differently because there were 23 members who had between 500 - 1,000 points who currently have 0. They really ought to have 500... But I didnt think of that when I did it :P
