  1. Hey guys, I'm wanting to make a custom battle and menu system like Final Fantasy 1 (for my fan project Final Fantasy 1.5), but I'm not familiar with RGSS at all. Now I'm willing to put the work but does any one know good tutorials for these things? I've looked around and as much as you can find downloads for final projects with custom battle and menu systems, there isn't much in the way of tutorials. God knows I looked for one simular enough, but I can't find one. Like i said, i just need a point in the right direction. Thanks

    Map Merging

I know this is possible because they did it with Pokemon Essencials, but I was wondering if you needed an external program. You know how in pokemon you move from one map to the other without using teleports, how they seemlessly murge. like they are preloaded. Any one know how to do that?
  3. Basically I'm making this game because I want to test the differences between RM2k (which I am intimately familiar with) and RMXP. Since I've never used RMXP I think it'll provide a good bases for scripting since I want to recreate the original Final Fantasy battle system. I recreated it once before on RM2k back nearly 7 years ago, but its been a while since I’ve used any RPGMakers. Story You are the descendant of the Heroes of Light that defeated Chaos back nearly 5 millennia before. You town is a little village which has survived in isolation since those days. Curious about your ancestry you leave the village to visit the shrine of Light which was once dedicated to the Heroes of Light, but over the centuries has fallen into ruin. Rumours have circulated that their is a monster that has take up residence in the Shrine, and that a powerful barrier that had once fortified the lower levels of the Shrine has been breached. What will you find down their is any ones guess. Characters Custom Hero - Make your own hero and pick their class from the original Final Fantasy class list. Additional Characters Black Mage - A short tempered mage who dreams of finding the legendary Level 9 Spells Fighter - An eccentric sword wielding expert with the hopes of finding the legendary Excalibur White Mage - A virtuous healer with a dream to save the world from evil Black Belt - A master martial artist who dreams of being the strongest in the world Red Mage - An annoying mage with the ambition of becoming the most powerful mage in the world Thief - A sly trickster with hordes of gold on his mind Graphics Graphics will be ripped directly from Final Fantasy (NES version) by myself. Don’t expect anything special, it's a cheesy sequel. Battle graphics, sprites, tilesets and battle animations. Music Music is ripped from the Final Fantasy (NES version). I found them on a website that ripped it directly from the rom. Battle & Menu System I'll try to recreate the original systems. As I said before this is a test to get accustomed to the new RPGMaker. Script The story isn’t terrible original, but will be written by myself. That is about that. Any questions or comments post here. Any advice would be appreciated.
  4. Polraudio: its really a matter of opinion and familiarity. After using a program for over 10 years you tend to like it more than the others of its type. For example the fight between Photoshop and Illustrator or PC vs Mac. I'm so used to using RM2k that I could make a game in a fraction of the time it would take me in another program. Ive coded my own atb, menus, and hundreds of puzzels. Emanzi: Yeah it sucks, but not everything was from 1 event. I lost 2 games from a crappy host and my old computer died I lost them too. the others were lost when I got a virus and my files became corrupted. I still have one, but I'm unmotivated to finish it. As for being a Master, the system in RMXP is slightly different and it'll take me a while to get used to it. Thats why im going to revive an old game since i know what i want, I can test without being worried about it. Tho I admit I'm a really good mapper and my pixel art isnt too bad. I was pretty good with sprites and tilesets, so i dont expect that to ave changed much at all.
  5. Hey every one, just gonna give a brief of myself. I've been working with RPG Maker for nearly 15 years, I started with RPGMaker95 back in the day, then got RPGMaker2000, and used that for a long time. I've made 6 games, all of which are now lost because of file corruption and a bad host. Most of the games I've made were orignals, but I did make a short Final Fantasy 1 sequal I called 'Final Fantasy 1.5'. Since I lost that I decided to revive the game on the RMXP to test it. The game shouldnt be too long, and since the game rips 90% of the graphics, music and sounds from FF1 its relitively easy to do. Tho I will need to completely remake the battle engine, thats the only point of major code, everything else is basic. I have another game on the table as well, its a Red Dwarf game ala Lost Vikings. I've only got a basic idea and was thinking of trying out Game Maker 8 to make that. I used to be one of the best Mappers in my old communities, so maybe I'll give people hints and tips on that. RMXP doesnt look terribly different from 2K in that mapping aspect so my advice should still be good lol.
