Hey All, Just wanted to say Hi!
phionabrie replied to D4rkWolf's topic in Introductions and Farewells
Welcome to the forums! Most of us aren't scary. The ones who are.... I'm sure you'll still be ok. -
Good luck to both of you on the classes! Its definitely challenging when you've been out of it for a few years. I might eventually go back for a 4-year degree (namely cause I want to do PA which is masters and they have this idea that you have to do the one before the other....) but totally not looking forward to having to retake some of my generals. At work I've had to help the kids with their math homework sometimes and it's just as annoying now as it was back when I did it for me :P

Heya D4rkWolf, I know you want to get help for your project, and we do have a number of helpful people here on the forums, but you might try letting us get to know you a little before trying to draw us in. Tell us a little about yourself in the Introduction forum here: http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/forum/7-introductions-and-farewells/ Also, most people would want to know more about a project before volunteering. Try giving a bit more information on what you're working on (game genre, basic setting, etc.) in the Early in Development forum: http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/forum/182-early-in-development/

Summer Mapping Contest Winner!

Conga Rats Pol! Very cool maps! Totally wish I could see what the people are saying. @zahraa Nice map! A little bit busy though. Don't be afraid to take advantage of negative space. -
Which would require them to stop thinking about themselves long enough to actually think about the other person.

After supervising boys and girls at work, I've come to the conclusion that boys are every bit as dramatic as girls.
-
Salty, not all girls have the means/opportunity to go shopping all the time (contrary to popular television) and it can be kind of hurtful when people assume it's just another day at the mall. Also, not every girl feels comfortable being objectified by the assumption that she went out and got sexy clothes. Sometimes it's nice to just get something cute or cool or pretty, or even just plain new. Oh, and belated Happy Birthday!! ~hangs head shamefully~ I should've said that already....

So you would be just as satisfied having an operation done on you by a self taught surgeon as opposed to one who'd gone to medical school? While there are many things you could learn on your own, that doesn't mean it would always be the best option for you or the people you work for. And while many good things can be learned by trial and error, sometimes the risks you would take aren't worth it when someone else has already proven a certain action to be a mistake. Personally, while I agree that some majors are ridiculous and some classes beyond pointless, there are still definite advantages to furthering education. And depending on what the course of study is, a community college may be just as good or better a place to learn it than some of the most prestigious schools. As much as I hated most of my classes in K-12, I absolutely appreciate having learned from it.
-
College is rarely a 9-5 thing. And most of the stuff you learn (except generals) is totally relevant and interesting. Labs are the best: you get to mix and prod and test stuff.
-
@railfan101 Dunno if it's quite what you wanted, but if you have a mouse with a scrollie wheel you can hold down the control key and scroll up to zoom in and make the text bigger (on any web page).

I totally planned to join, but got distracted by a trip to Tampa. Got a picture with someone dressed as the 10th doctor at comic con! Anyway, I'm home now, so I'll try to map something out by the deadline.

Am I allowed to nominate anyone? If so, I nominate Bob423 for trying to help answer my questions several times, and doing so in completely understandable fashion.

Not having internet is just... wrong. Try not to lose your sanity while you're gone. We'll be rooting for you.

~waves~ Welcome!

Decided to use events instead of terrain tags for floor stuff because it works better for my game, which means the only thing I need different from my mouse script is how to make it hide. Anyone familiar enough with the mouse script (first set) who might be able to tell me how to do that?
-
Um... either? I can join-in/contribute mapping/artwork/storyline stuff, or help advise people in ways to use photoshop for tile/sprite/etc. creating/editing. I can also experiment with eventing and/or break things by attempting to script... I'm pretty good at following directions (unless it's a recipe) so I guess it really depends on which type of what you need.

Once upon a time I replied to this, then my post went ~poof~ (or perhaps the squirrels are loose in my marbles again). So anyway, I can prolly help with this, if you want.

Hello, I'm just a girl looking for a collaborator..

Some of us are too insane to be considered nice and friendly, but they keep us around for the entertainment factor... or as future victims for their nefarious plots... or... Anyway, Hihi! -
Child molesters (male or female) should have their parts removed.

I'll try it out. Thanks!

I use photoshop for my editing, and have been working on several custom tilesets already, so having two graphics of the same image is no problem. What I'm not sure of though is how to go about switching the tiles on the map so that I don't have to have the player zone/transfer. If I use events to place the tiles, will the priority tags still apply?
-
Is there a way assign two different priorities to the same tile, applicable in different circumstances? I want to have some items (rope ladders and walkways for instance) that the character can go under/behind but then go around and climb/walk on top of. I know I could just make two identical maps, one with one priority set and the other with the other priority set, but I'm hoping there's a solution that doesn't require zoning.
-
Did you get the help you needed with this? If not I could try to sketch something. What dimensions/resolution would you be looking for?
