  1. I didn't think I would need to explain this.. Someone wants to create a flashlight/spotlight effect in flash and a member replied posting that tutorial I wrote for RPG Maker XP. Needless to say, my tutorial isn't going to get them very far in flash...
  2. Since we've known each so long I don't think it would be appropriate to accept payment for it. The only circumstance where I would find it appropriate is if the payment went directly to isaacsol to help with hosting. I would also give you a full overview of it so you know what you're getting, but at the least it is complete user integration and also has a global variable which you can use in any joomla component to access any field of the ibf_members table. Very useful when writing member orientated components in joomla. Send me a PM if you're interested and we'll talk about it some more.
  3. Welcome back tomo :alright: Glad to have one of the active members back. I didn't think you left because I saw you online a bit and not too many members have been posting the last few days or so, though that's probably because our timezones are pretty similar.
  4. Oh I see. I assumed managers well below admins, I really should have figured that one out. What site software are you going to use? Joomla or perhaps IPB's own content system? If its joomla I'm curious as to how you're going to do it since we have our own semi-unique system here :P
  5. Today while browsing through a list of traffic sources, I came across a topic on the adobe forums. http://forums.adobe.com/message/3007713?tstart=0 (sorry if a current active member posted this)

    Weekends?

Usually watch rugby and just relax... This time of the year I try and get as much study in as possible before the exams.
  7. For question 1, I think you can copy and paste things directly between RPG Maker XP projects. For example copy a monster and paste it into any random ID in another project. As long as you don't come off like a complete newbie that is totally helpless then I think you can recruit a team. As the leader the team members need to have faith and you have to work hard to maintain things, otherwise it all falls apart pretty quickly. If members were to see your signature, it looks pretty professional and people want to be apart of something worth doing, so I think you should be able to find a team. For XP though, I don't know these days. Its certainly not as easy as it used to be.
  8. Better an unorganized contest than none. Well, the forums could do with something going on. I think this will be interesting though. I think we should start giving more attention to contests, like advertising them on the index page. If it is successful enough, say 3 or more entries, we'll but the demos up on the homepage and announce the winner that way.
  9. Sounds like a pretty good game from your review. The last time I played Castlevania was on game boy advanced. What platform is this for by the way?
  10. I agree it should be made from scratch, but also there should be a rule of only RTP resources. To make it fairer.
  11. Oops I seem to have missed your reply, Kiriashi. If we had a specialized forum rather than right in the shop, and have the shop contain the links, that would be probably be a lot easier for me to setup. However at the moment I can't really think of any way to setup a payment system other than one member telling the other what to do and donate... But its all the same really. The buying resources idea would have to be in the shop, but this would be much more effective as once one member uploads their resource, no one needs to do anything else because it will all be completely automated. Once you pay for the image, it will be emailed (or given in some other form) and that will be it. I wouldnt expect members to do requests as well. Most types of graphics are very time consuming, particularly spriting. Unless you have a real passion for it, I can't see too many members seeing any number of points decent payment for the job. Not to mention members who may be unreasonable in their requests.

    Inactivity D:

The frontpage in particular loads pretty slow for me. I think I know why and I can improve that a little. I was thinking of redoing the look of the site. Something more gamey, I suppose. Also I was thinking of creating RMVX/XP portals which display recent content from the forums for those engines. And also another idea I had is to setup a page where members can change their own usergroups so that they can see a page of support/requests topics by members, so its easier to help out and topics don't just get lost. Or something like that. Or, sidebar like recent posts that shows recent projects, tutorials or scripts, or, support/requests topics. So basically getting the content out there so its more accessible. Looking at rpgmakervx.com's stats, it seems you're right about the loss of inactivity: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/rpgmakervx.net I'm not too sure about the others, but this site is the major one.
  13. I just noticed ryan registered only 4 days after Leon. Ryan, I'm sure you don't remember, but how did you find the forums in the first place? Through RMXP Ultimate perhaps? I remember blogging about RMXPU's legends and the origins of the members who started it. Do elaborate :) Since you left I started university. Doing a little law and finance. In all likely hood I'll be moving over to your country within the decade, the pay is far better. In case you didn't know NZers can go freely to Australia and vice versa (I think?). Also learned a little web stuff and wrote a couple scripts for the site.
  14. Never thought I'd see the day you dropped back in :) Of course, I remember all active members. You were particularly active around early 2007 as I remember, at one of the times when I left. And of course I remember you because you're Australian, in the same area of the world as me :) How have you been? How did you stumble upon us again? Accident or did you remember back all those years? By the way, the other admin Emily_Konichi is SCMike, now inactive. And I'm sure you remember Leon. Yeah we developed a little since the days you were active. Only just changed the style this year though. But we've slowly chugged along, activity fluctuating here and there, and have accumulated some pretty nice stats.
  15. Ecowolfsteen, he is well within his rights to request what he is, if you don't like it then leave the topic. Or I could just link you to the rules. Also a note to others, please stay on topic. I may still have some of the resources that Franklin upload, but I'm not sure about what the mario sprites actually look like so it will be difficult for me to find them unless I just uploaded every single image from our gallery...
  16. Hey everyone :) Haven't made a blog post in a long while, and also kinda bored so I'll I thought I'd make one. First of all I am going to be pretty inactive for a while with exams. I have my first on the 29th of October and the last on November 4th. So I don't suspect I'll be doing too much before then. I think we've all noticed a pretty big drop in activity on the forums. Lately I've found myself thinking about when is the right time to stop. I'm wondering if RMXPUnlimited has already peaked and whether to be competitive in terms of activity within the RPG Maker community as a whole, is a task one step too far. Activity in terms of posts per day has never really got me down. Its more so when members decide to leave, or just stop posting anything. For example, Arkbennett who told me he has just lost interest. I think there's still a lot of potential for the site though. Its just whether or not its worth putting in all the effort to make it better and to make it active. Things like the scripts archives which are one of our most popular sections (in terms of pageviews) took a fair bit of time to setup and are unique feature I think, and to spend a day writing a script that allows members to add scripts to it, and not have it used even once, is very disheartening. Certainly being an admin is less fun that it used to be. The major point of this blog post is whether or not it is worth continuing into the future with RMXPUnlimited and whether its worth the time improving it. Feel free to comment below :)
  17. Oh you left? That happens a lot really. A member gets a 100 posts, goes away, comes back goes away. etc. Good to have you back though, hope you realize you have an obligation to post since you made this topic.
  18. bandwidth limit breached... 0.o no internet for me.. sigh.

  19. Who's website is this? Eco started the topic, but you and him are managers and Broken Messiah is the only admin?
  20. Welcome to the forums Rya. That was an interesting intro post :)
  21. Yeah, it is clearly unjust. However, the law is the law, right? Usually the word public place is also defined in the statue (is it possible to look that up?). Do you think it can be argued that "any place where others are present" includes the action of the person in this case? Whether or not someones property is a public place depends on the definition of "public place", in some NZ statues it is defined as a place to which the public has access. If you can walk right onto a persons property, then you have access, right? I think what happened shouldnt have been offense, im just offering a point of discussion :) though whether I think its just or not doesn't really matter if it is the law. The tax rate is unjust :P
  22. I don't know about US courts, but when you get something like this in a statue "an obscene display or exposure of his person, or the private parts thereof, in any public place, or in any place where others are present", it is up to the interpretation of the judge to decide if the actions of the person fall within these words. To illustrate an extreme example, what if his house was made of glass and everyone walking past could see inside? If he was naked where members of the public could easily see him (in his home or not) then I agree that he is breaking the law.
  23. Good work Leon. Yeah we should totally give out points for MOTM, or something.
  24. Have you looked in the image gallery?
  25. Poor girl. Some dogs just shouldn't be kept as pets. Haven't you guys ever heard the term destroyed used when putting down animals? Its just jargon I think.
