  1. this looks cool, I'm excited for it.
  2. I'll see if I can get the time, but it is my sons first birthday on the 18th so I doubt i'll have the free time
  3. We'll see if i can. All depends on if i can get the free time and if my gf will kill me for working on this for 2 days lol
  4. I'd be tempted to do this, but i'm not sure how much time i'll have over the next few weeks...with thanksgiving (canada) and my sons birthday it's a bit packed.
  5. I didn't even see it. I'll have to give it a try when i have a bit of free time.
  6. Hey welcome back. Good luck finishing your project :)
  7. Well I'm glad PZE is still alive, good luck finding a coder. BTW what happened to SilentResident and Baffou? why did they drop off the grid?
  8. I'm with Polraudio on this. Tho some times its annoying that you miss a few items or special quests it adds to the replay-ability of the game. My approach is play the game once without any help or guides to find that stuff, then in my 2nd play through grab a guide that shows me what interesting stuff you can get. Personally i think more maze-like levels is better cause i hate the linearity in games these days, and if you miss stuff oh well, better luck next time.
  9. Yeah i agree with you on that. portability is a huge thing nowadays. Being able to play a game on multiple platforms gives an advantage. the fact that it can do this for all those types without having to change the base engine/scripts is great. I'm looking a little more foreward to this, but we'll see what the price is.
  10. Welcome to the community Miku, I hope you post more and work hard on your game. Good luck in school too.
  11. Hey welcome back top the forums. I do remember you from the chat mostly, glad to see you returned and that your game was successfully completed :)
  12. i think it really falls down to personal preference in which languages you prefer coding in, and to be honest it does save a ton of money/time to have a pre-made engine for a large project. personally i'm not interested in buying any of these...i need a car more than i do a pro version of a game engine.
  13. Yeah Pol, i'd be interested in a rpg base, saves coding it myself lol
  14. Ill be honest with you, this has come too little too late. with the advent of Unity's engine and the endless possibilities you can do with that and the ease of programming, the support, easy multi platform use and the free resources this should have been made 3 years ago to even think of competing. I think their only real buyers will be complete novices to game making and the few loyal consumers they already have.
  15. nice script, there is a script submission form so this gets added to the database we have so it can be searched for more easily. post it there if you have the time :)
  16. hey welcome to the site. if you can program VB you can program Ruby with a little tutorial to explain the differences. Final fantasy style battle systems do exist, don't be afraid to check them out and edit them if you need.
  17. my personal preference is xp over ace any day. you can do a lot with either one tho if you try. of your two maps i prefer the xp, but you could do much more with these maps to add depth to it. Most places like beaches/deserts have dunes, hills and different split levels to them. Also use more extras like rocks, different flowers/bushes, and try not to make the water line so straight. on the ace map, use wet/darker sand near the water, and lighter/dry sand away from the water, keeping in mind this effect shouldn't be straight either. thats my advice, take from it what you will.
  18. Lol big city... Welcome to the forums Dusty. The quality of your games don't matter so much as the fact that you learned something from it. Learning new tricks, skills and experiences are whats needed to make great games. It takes time, but hard work can pay off if you keep with it.
  19. Counterfeit prevention is a hard topic, and every country in the world has to deal with it. Your idea seems good but it only takes one person outside the treasury department to say about the hidden bar code and then it'll explode like wild fire. On top of that the scanners for money couldn't possibly be government regulated simply because of bureaucracy and governments never being able to handle anything on their own. So the bar code thing would be leaked right away and then it only takes a smart counterfeiter some time to figure it out. Canada had a huge issue with it. Back in the 90s we had a new 'Canadian Goose' series of money printed aimed at reducing counterfeiters, with 2 years the RCMP broke a 100 million dollar counterfeiting ring of the new bills. sine then our money was the most counterfeited in the world (even places like Uganda and Mexico had less counterfeits lol) til we bought the Auzzie's plastic bills. The issue becomes a bit easier when dealing with electronic transactions, security measures are more easy to build allowing for many levels of protection, but even that's not perfect.
  20. I donno, I've had a lot of bad experiences with windows initial release. Its been better in my experience to wait until the first service pack before upgrading, at least then they have time to fix the blatant holes in security and mess ups with compatibility with other programs
  21. But funny enough it doesn't look like Luigi is in those lol
  22. I've seen these sprites before, I know there is a Luigi one out there. They were used in Super Mario Bros Z, on newgrounds years ago. Keep looking I know you'll find them.
  23. I may be a little bias but I like our Pol better.
