Scripting a change of form skill with common events.
dolarmak replied to Alex Tingle's question in Support
I'm not sure what you mean by locked away? If the demon is still in party then the common event should remove it like I explained in the first part. The common event is located in the game database. This should activate any time the switch is activated regardless of which map you are in. -
Scripting a change of form skill with common events.
dolarmak replied to Alex Tingle's question in Support
you could actually use a common event. Set it to parallel and activate on the switch [0001: Demon] = ON like you have and set the script in it. I would also remove the Initialize from the add command. Initialize resets the character to the default level you set when the game first starts. If you want them to gain any experience or keep their levels you need to turn that feature off. -
Lol hey guys i'm back. I just graduated from my Electronics Engineering program and now have some more free time. I cant guarantee Ill be on every day because I do have a family now (my son is 8 months old) but I do have a bit more free than when I was studying. I'm not sure if Ill continue one of my old games or maybe work on a new project, but I'll be around to help out a bit with scripting and advice for those that need it. I did gain some programming skills while at school so I'll be able to help out a bit more in that department now :) Anyway cant wait to see what you guys have all been upto

nice work pol, i enjoyed the earlier versions.

This is really the only way to do it. You know where the player will encounter the enemy and should know what theyre stats should be about. just do some tests. on average a normal enemy should do about 10% damage to the party, a tough fight should do 25-30% and a boss fight should be around 70% damage. There will be people who grind so those people will find even tough enemies easy, but estimate minimal grinding for the players level.

So is the new MOTM based on how often people post? if so I preferred the best contributes and helpers categories.

It might be as simple a problem as the font just doesn't support it. maybe trying a new font will help? And just because the editor transforms it into another character doesn't necessarily mean that the compiler won't compile it with the proper character?

making the new regions and characters is easy, it's the new pokemon that's hard cause they all need animations and stat info. But if you stick to the orignal 721....god there are 721 pokemon?... put them in a new and exciting encounter rates and you have a great new game without a whole lot of new artwork or coding. just curious but why is it every pokemon fan i know making a game feels the need to add 150 pokemon for a game that already have WAY more than enough?

Looking good Germany. And suits always make a man's shoulders broad looking. -
That would be a great script, however if you look at Pokemon Essentials and Project Zelda Engine you'll notice that its actually an external program made for it. Might be hard to find but if you do, let me know i'd love that script too :D
-
The pokemon game would be an easier one to do if you grab the Pokemon Essentials pack. It includes all the artwork for most games, all current pokemon and coding is done. You might want to make the main character art, but otherwise all you need to do is map making and eventing. Might be worth a look?

it looks cool, but so did google glass....and not so much in reality.

While I did love the original Suikoden games ( I only played 1-3) your game idea might be a bit ambitious. Not that it can't be achieved but the majority of people quit making games because of the huge task they've set-up for themselves. I'd suggest watching this video about Making games for beginners. It gives advice and tips about game making. Also don't be discouraged if you can't find a team, most of us on GDU have a lot on our plates right now. I've written an article here about this very problem if you want to read it. Good luck with your game, and if you do get it made don't forget to post it here so we can play.

How to build a game without an engine like RMXP?
dolarmak replied to Catherine's topic in General Game Development
I feel it should also be pointed out that even big game developers use game engines to help simplify the scripting and layout maps. They're just using different engines that us: Unreal engine, Half-life engine etc...the real trick is finding an engine that suits the style of game play you want. -
cool that you're updating everything, have you though about making a game page?

If french wasn't so damn complicated to write i would help. i speak fluently but writing is another thing, even french people can hardly write it properly lol

your stuff is pretty cool, i am looking forward to new stuff. as for our site it's almost all free projects. I'm not sure if any one intends to sell their games right now, Tho a few might.

i downloaded the older version when you first posted this, and it was fun. tho i didn't get far enough to get any gems I did notice a disconnect between the fastest speed a person can click and how fast the hold button speed boosts gives. it's like 50 times faster which meant i got back up to the same amount of gold in less than 2 minutes. I donno if any one else found it kinda disconnecting, but maybe basing the speed of the hold button more proportional to your level for that skill than a specific speed the whole time might be better. for example you can check how quickly a person can get the hold button, and make the base level of speed around much time (so if it takes 15 minutes to get 50k gold, make the initial speed take about that long), then multiply it by 1/10 of your level? so at level 10 it would be twice as fast as level 1. I also noticed that when you select products for your sellers to sell they will all sell X amount of each category. So if you have 2 times selected you essentially sell 2 times as many things, and if you select 3 you sell 3 times. donno if that was intentional or not? I would suggest a player need to set his sellers to each item maximum being how many he's hired. those were mu suggestions, it was a fun game.

code is done with a graphical tags, its hard to post, you'll see when you use it. thanks for trying it. and i know what you mean about having no time. i'd give the program a 3.5 on 5 cause the graphical interface is a bit limited, but for people without programming experience its a good intro.

Hey guys, i worked quickly on a little one day build for a project my teacher wanted us to make. Its a simple Rock Paper Scissors game, only for android phones. It was made with MIT's App Inventor 2 software and was pretty easy to make once i got how the logic worked for the graphical system. dolarmak replied to Noob Saibot's topic in Engine Discussion
My teacher suggested we try out MIT's App Inventor 2 software for android development. Its a simple graphic user interface, but it's web based and saves your work on their servers so you can switch computers if you need to. Its pretty easy to get going, i made a little Rock Paper Scissors game to test it which i will put up here for people to see. -
hey shadow there most certainly is a way to do what you want, but only moon pearl really knows his own script well enough to do that with any kind of speed. and he's not online too often. i'm also not sure he would even do a request. but as Salt and Bob said, why down grade i t, hue isnt that big a deal.
