Well it was interesting how it looks like one of those dungeon crawlers that you see in like the NES. However there wasn't much done so there is not a whole lot to comment on. One thing I do suggest however is to try to limit the redundancy to keep players interested. Lastly I'm assuming the dragon is impossible to kill for us right now since it one hit killed me?

Sorry to hear about you dropping out I'll take you off the list. Also the medal thing sounds interesting cant wait to see it! Looks good I cant wait to play it. :alright: Lastly I would like to say that there is only about 10 hours left to post your project and its title gl to all. :B):

How can I scroll the Event Editor window horizontally?
Dragon324 replied to deathmoverz24's question in Support
I would Base the basic of off something like I did in the attachment below. Besides that I suppose you could have 3 more random variables with conditional branches but if I was you I wouldn't do much more than that because it would get confusing and plus you would spend a lot of time on citizens. -
Notice: This competition ends in about 25 hours from this post time. So hopefully you guys are wrapping up your projects and getting ready to turn them in. So remember you need to post your project and the title of your project within the next 25 hours from this post. Good luck to everyone that entered. :alright:

Oh my goodness that's a lot of conditional branches . If you don't mind me asking what you are trying to do with all those because I think you wont need all of those at least not right under another. But as to your question I don't know of a way but there might be. -
Sorry to hear that. I shall take your name off the list. Next time I'll try to have this once school is out and summer vacation starts. That is if we get some good results ( I really didn't want to judge just host this seeing how at least in my opinion I wouldn't be very good at it but we shall see.)

Okay so after about 25 hours of game play which in the end was more like 35 I finally beat Dragons Age 2. In the beginning it was kind of easy you know making small joins and what not. Then I started to get raped up in the game making extremlly hard choices. Then when I knew the game was about to end the hardest choice of all was one I had to make. Sometimes it seems I get so wrapped up in these games I believe its actually me in the game. I know its bad and its just fantasy but I wish I was born into a fantasy world I hate all this high tech stuff but o well. So anyway I finished the game and the final cut scene poped up and I got to see Leliana and I was left with more questiones than answers. I mean I know some of whats going on and the game sets itself perfect for a 3rd game. However know I have this feeling I cant explain I want to play the 3rd although I know it will be a few years. :o My point is I hate it when you get into a rpg you love and then the ending just throws you off and your left with this feeling of I guess anxiety well now its back to DA orgins then all the way through again. Geeze I'm obsessed and I cant stop well anyway now I'm going to compare DAO to DA2 for those who are thinking about getting it or just curious. Pros- Combat system- Its like a hack an slash game but you have control over a party. Found it intense and it kept me interesting. Inventory- It was nice having junk that went to the junk folder instead of so much wepons and armor that took up pointless space. Story- The story was okay. I did feel a lot of points where I was deeply connected and there were some heavy choices to make. Wheel- Being able to see what choice where good/evil helped Day/Night- Self explained. Houses- Yay not just a camp people actually live somewhere :P Cons- Maps- Okay this peeved me a lot, they kept using the same map again and again even if it was a diffrent area just some areas where blocked off or opened. This was only for side quest but still at least change them up a little. I also hated that most of the game revolved around 2 areas Characters- There is very little connection between hawke and his/her companions. Even if you do try to get romantic with one ( also there is very poor choices for romance options in my opinion) you feel like they dont much care. Other than that I did like how you could ask for some party members opinions but overall there needs to be more work to get them more involved instead of talking with them 5 times for plot. Auto armor- This peeved me too and it just means cant change your party members armor enough said. One city- You just got to be in one city enough said. Potions/Lyrium- Only one type no lesser or greater pretty bland. Glitches- They are there if you have any doubts go to the chantry when doing Isabella first quest you should see sinking fire that floats downward. Its in my opinion that orgins had a better character system because you can deeply connect with them. Also in orgins party member armor can be changed so you don't got pointless armor laying around. I understand why they used some maps over and over again in the 2 game but I would rather it loose an hour or so of game play just so each map is different. Story line was a tad more intense in Dragons age orgins. In orgins there was things like trap making and herbalist which arnt at your full disposal in DA2. Wished for older characters to return but not to much avail. The ending in DA2 sets itself up nicely for a sequel heres what I hope they change for DA3: Trap making and all that stuff back. Different levels of potions/ Lyrium Deeper connections for characters/story also more party member connection and involvement. More play testing to avoid glitches. Change party member armor as well Play as some orgins characters- Ive long missed some of them ( Mostly likely going to happen but I wont say why to avoid spoilers) No cool down for potions - God that was annoying if they want to make it harder make them heal less or cost more. Specialization for party members Variety of maps. My ratings- Dragons Age Orgins- 9/10, Awaking 7.5/10, Dragons Age 2 8/10 Like I kept trying to say Bioware you have taken a step backwards I still enjoyed the game but it was still a step backwards. My advice dont rush when creating games it makes the players unhappy Well I hope this guide serves at least one person well if anyone has questions or comments or found something I missed feel free to post. Also it is in my deepest opinion that in DA3 the champion in DA2 and your grey warden from orgins will be together ( finish the game to find out why I think that) Until then happy dragon slaying :alright:

After thinking about it your probably right so nvm about giving me the title 4 your game before hand as long as you give it to me the day before the contest ends that will be fine. :alright:
-
Could you not just use the timer? For example set it to 10 min and if the person eats something(uses an item) the timer just restarts other wise if it reaches 0 then the player just takes damage. Then same thing for the cold just a thought but I imagine it would need to be under common events in the database. :alright:
-
Just glade I could help and sorry for the confusing ness I was just about to post screens but since you got it saves me time. Gl with your project btw
-
Okay I think you need to get rid of the conditional branch in there and just make it another event which prob means you will need to add another switch. Set it to parallel process and have just a transfer player with variables as soon as the battle is aborted. If this doesn't help I'll just create what your doing on mine and post screen shots of my layout.

In my opinion it is almost impossible to not have people think about what their going to do for their game. So basically the way I see it is you can have an abstract idea of what your going to do before it actually starts you just cant have specifics yet. Hope that helps maybe I should post an example? Next its just a proposed title you can change it at anytime during the week of the competition if you choose to its just to help me identify what project belongs to who for the possible banner and for when I get the score sheets written up. Also it starts Sunday at 12:01AM and ends Sunday 12:01AM my time which again is GMT-5 Lastly if anyone else has any questions feel free to post or send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. ;)

Yea but I was hoping to have one every couple of months or so idk it really depends what happens with this one. Although in my opinion sign ups is going really well and a lot of people are entering. And I have updated the list for the other two people that joined. Lastly I would like to remind everyone to either PM me or post under this topic before Sunday the proposed title for your project. Also as I reminder on Saturday 5 hours before the competition I will post a 5 hours left post that way some of you can judge when it begins. Then I will also post exactly when it starts. Until then.
-
Yea I'm sorry about that it was mainly just to prove my point that we are not judging time as one of the criteria. I just forget that I'm working so hard on mine that I average about 1-2 hours a week and I was thinking I was slow. So yea good quality play time is 30 is min or so but again there is no time limit just please no 5 min :alright: As far as everyone who replied ty for taking part in this and I'll add you to the list of competitors. Kiriashi I'm assuming from your post that your joining please send me a message if I'm wrong. :sweatdrop: Lastly I would like to have at least one more judge to make it more of a good number :P. So if anyone would like to judge please sign up.
-
I see that most people are not joining because time seems to be an issue. Remember we ( the judges) are not judging you by how long your game is. Sure you need to have more than 30 min. of game play but you don't need 5 hours. The minimum amount of game time is probably 2 hours but not necessarily which is not bad and can be as long as you want it to be. Just make sure its long enough to show what you want the judges to see. As the time is drawing closer I would like to see many members as possible to sign up and try this. Theirs no point in a contest if only one person signs up. So please even if you think that time is going to be an issue for you but you would like to sign up, do so anyway you can always withdraw later if absolutely need be. Also as another reward on top of getting help on your project that you would receive a Project in a week reward banner to show off in your signature that states what month and year you won. Kinda of like the MOTM thing but for Project in a week. I would like to make this a monthly thing but every month add a new twists but it all depends on how you the community make this turn out. So remember join in on the fun and get ready to start on March 13 GMT-5. :biggrin_002:

Okay if I understand you correctly this should not be to hard to set up. First of all you would have to make event with conditional branch for your checkpoint for when z is being pressed to turn on a switch. Next of all go under troops in the database and on the bottom you should see battle events. There where it says conditions you should put the switch is required to press the button for the checkpoint then make a new switch with a new condition where its based on the character hp then set a battle abort event and then set another event on the map that's set to parallel processing that when your 2nd switch is on it transfers the player back to the checkpoint and it should work. Sorry if it doesn't I don't have time to try it out but in theory it should. Hope this helps. :alright:

K youve been added to the judging section. We do need more people if it helps with sign ups your not going 2 be judged on how long your game is were just looking more for quality not quantity. Also would you rather just money to be a reward or something else like services to help with your project? Meaning your big project not the one being entered. Its up to you but I'm sad to say the money rewards would be quite low since I'm short on cash right now.
