Yeah this looks excellent. If you put the same level of production quality into your AVI files as you did the rest of what you showed us up top, I can only imagine how awesome they would be. This game looks great and innovative you seem to have achieved a very nice style and feel that mesh well together. I am very impressed by this creation, don't be modest a second release is excellent, this game looks near if not fully commercial. Keep up the excellently polished work. If you need help post a thread here on the forums, we will render any assistance we can. I for one want to see this exist! ~Cheers

Bon Ink Forum Admin Needed(Filled)
Jon Bon replied to Jon Bon's topic in Computers, Internet and Tech Talk
That's awesome Pol. Yeah moving the forum over was definitely a consideration, but my hopes is by that time I can hopefully justify paying a professional to do it etc. I am thinking most if not all the information should really be temporary stuff, that once games are released becomes irrelevant, so I am not sure if I will even need to keep anything when we move to a real owned forum. Definitely need moderators too, which of course an Admin qualified would be able to fill the role, which you indeed are. In my humble opinion you are an excellent candidate, especially since you are an rmxpu staff as well. My intention is to use my forums for staff functions, but strongly encourage project leads to use this site for their community feedback, and technical support needs. Having someone who knows both sites well is ideal. I have sent you a personal message with the link and more details. Thanks for the quick response! EDIT: And yeah as far as developing games go, definitely. I didn't mean to avoid that part, I forgot. You are most definitely one of the people I intended to contact. Just gotta take things one step at a time. This whole base of operations became an apparent need. -
Bon Ink Creations is my development company I am recently attempting to get officially off the ground. I have long been looking into the many different aspects of running ones own business, for a little over three years now. Based on my level of skill in this field, combined with the other skilled people I have met, I have begun recruiting talented and passionate people with like minded goals to join my company. Thinking I would need a website to coordinate efforts at first, I realized a staff forum would likely function much more efficiently for the time being, rather then building a custom system from scratch. So I found a free forum hosting spot, signed up and created my forum. I have minimal experience setting up a forum, as I have done it a few times in the past, but I keep running into issues I can not solve. Or issues that take me hours to look into to find the solution. This is an unacceptable use of my time, but needed none the less, so I do it. This is where a forum Admin would come in. I need someone who is already familiar with forum setup and maintenance, or who can at least familiarize themselves with this system. The person in question would be doing this for free for the time being, but will receive any and all games released through the company for free(no cost to them), and potentially special benefits from released games, such as exclusive content, or incorporation into the game itself, as a name, likeness rights, or hidden photo etc. The person who chooses to admin will also be first choice for permanent paid admin in the future. The demands for the forum should be rather small, as it is purely for staff and not a community based forum. It is however open to the public, common members can only post topics in general areas, and reply in areas where feedback is needed. The host is forumotion, so if you are familiar with their setup and design that's a plus. I am looking for someone who not only will be available most of the time during daylight hours for EST(-5:00 zone), but will likely be able to complete requests for forum operation changes within a few hours to maximum of 24hrs after receiving the request. Frequenting the site is not needed, you will only need a way to be contacted, ideally receiving instant emails from PM through our forums. If this interests you please contact me through PM here on the site, Email at BonInkCreations@hotmail.com or reply with questions to this thread. I will directly give the link to people interested and would prefer not to post it in the open until the site has an admin and is properly setup. Thank you for your interest and I hope to find someone to work with in the future.

I agree it won't take long and I intend to do it.

I've been doing real work too frequently. I woke up half a dozen times and went back to sleep, wanting to sleep in. I finally wake rested and ready for my day, thinking it's noon or later, and it ends up being quarter to nine in the morning. I was like what the heck body, go back to sleep. No go.

This project is officially on development hiatus. Until I can either gain the skill necessary to draw what I need, hire someone who can, or find a tileset that suits my need, I must focus my efforts on other projects that I can see the endings of more clearly. I truly thought I would make leaps and bounds with this, but got creative block, and really can't make a visual representation of the game that is to my liking. I estimate being able to return to this project no sooner then two months from now. However I could get a burst of inspiration between then and now, if so then I will return as needed. I apologize to those members that are looking forward to this, but rest assured this project will not be forgotten, but has to be moved aside for the time being. I appreciate the support of everyone who was helping, and I ask that you refrain from posting a reply unless needed so this remains the last post.

I learned to save my nominations for the last second, that way if I think many deserve it I can nominate based on who hasn't been spoken for. I would like to think others are either doing the same, or would hope they aren't intimidated enough to not recognize when members deserve to be nomination, myself excluded. I agree with Bigace, double to those who frequent but intend not to nominate. So many deserve nomination alone, just for posting their demos, or art, or the many other things people have been frequenting here. I would love to see some more meaningful nominations. I intend to make mine tomorrow.

I was thinking that whatever file I am about to go download and need to play your game, could you simply include the install file along with your game? Is that at all realistically possible? Saves others from having to go download something separate, if it could just be packaged along side the game(the same thing you intend for me to download). This way you do the step once and save everyone else who would have needed to do it from having to. Just a thought/suggestion, if this isn't possible I understand. EDIT: Just read the agreement, says can not redistribute, shame. Does this mean every person who wants to play your game has to download two separate parts if they currently do not have the rtp?
-
I get the same thing with my Windows 7. The game simply doesn't boot, no error nothing. I get a wait icon on my cursor for roughy 2 seconds, then it disappears and the game never boots up no matter how long I wait. Not sure what to tell you, the game wont work on either of my computers and to the best of my knowledge it's not on my end.

Is it possible to include the RTP with the demo download? I attempted to play this and I due not have the RTP, nor do I know 100% where to go to get it, etc. If it is possible, I would appreciate the rtp being included, or making it not necessary(which I believe you can do by manually adding the files). Thanks in advance for your time, I look forward to trying this.

To me it looks like the one character isn't on a minkoff sprite sheet. Are all your sprites on minkoff sheets?

Agreed. I completely understand and wish you the best of luck. Life comes first, I commend you prioritizing and your responsible nature to come and say you are leaving. I suspect you have the strength necessary in you to overcome whatever obstacle life may throw at you. Be strong and remember you can always come back here and return to your hobbies when your life is more centered. My good thoughts go out to you. EDIT: If you ever need an outside ear to bend, feel free to send me a personal message, sometimes it helps to just talk. Again, best of luck to you.

I intend to but have little free time. People are quick and willing to give advice and help with creation, but dedicating time to playing a game is a whole other story. This is one of I think 5 games I want to try recently, that I have yet to even download. I will give my best effort to try this today and give you some feedback. Edit: Forgot I had already sat down once to try some of the posted games out, but was discourage when I tried this one first. Downloading it now on my laptop.

I always thought Canada was bad for guns too, but then I read that statement and realized it totally applied directly to here(Canada) as well. I never realized it but civilians for the most part do not have guns here, it's all farmers and bush folk. Accessibility/availability/opportunity definitely plays a part in any crime.

Although I can not personally help you, I wish to welcome you here and wish you the best of luck in your project needs. I look forward to seeing your release when the time comes. You're sure to make a valuable member of the community.

Internet Website Builder/Admin Needed (Paid Job)
Jon Bon replied to Jon Bon's topic in Computers, Internet and Tech Talk
I had/have an idea for a facebook app, I actually bought a developers kit and started to try and make it, but it was over my head at the time, and likely still is. The same people offered a pay service to build what I wanted but I never got around to trying it out. If you wanted to look into how to make a facebook app in general, and what we need as far as paid server space etc, maybe a site that hosts them or something etc, that would be a good start. I will look for the basic outline of the app I drew up and send it to you in a PM, see if it's something you would be interested in working on. -
Agreed, why leave? I was looking forward to your creations. If you do decide to leave, then we would appreciate some feedback as to why you left, so if possible we can better suit user needs in the future.

Internet Website Builder/Admin Needed (Paid Job)
Jon Bon replied to Jon Bon's topic in Computers, Internet and Tech Talk
@Marked Cool. I will take the next week to look into more what I need for the website and the above linked programs. Sort of get a better idea how I am going to proceed. I will definitely take your help Marked, and much appreciated. On a sort of related/unrelated note, how is your knowledge on facebook applications? Are you able to make them? Like not a game, but an application, something that shows and records numbers etc. -
Internet Website Builder/Admin Needed (Paid Job)
Jon Bon replied to Jon Bon's topic in Computers, Internet and Tech Talk
@ Kell I completely agree about the whole server thing. Maybe in the future when I have a headquarters and not a home office, heh. As far as time frame not for at least 2 months I would think. But nothing is set in stone, and I am in no rush at all. I still have things I need to look into non website related. But I have more free time this month and have been using it to research the things I need to. In theory the website could go up today, but I don't really have a perfect idea of what I want it to look like, just want I need it to do. I need the website to act as the home base for the company on the internet. It will be where people can join the creation team for the game(s) we are currently developing, and for fans to check into what we have developed and are developing. It will also work as a place for staff members to log in and see news letters, monthly reports, team goals, and other stuff that can be sent out by team leads. For the most part my plan is to use rmxpu for development and forum needs as it makes much more sense to me to use an already existent forum for game development. But my company site would be for the public and sort of the polished store front if you will. Yeah if you want to be 'my guy' for the whole website thing, I am totally cool with that. I think my(our) best bet would be to iron out the website idea as much as possible right to the point where I can just punch in the credit card and pull the trigger on the day of my choosing. If we need to buy programs before hand, or whatever, maybe have the site created and not live or something, that works too. However you think is best to proceed based on your knowledge of the site creation, and what marked has posted and such. Maybe we use Marked's help if he has time to offer it when we need etc, to get the site up, then you can help maintain and expand it etc. Well, this all seems to be going well, I am glad. I hope to be able to set something up that will put people's talents to good use. You find such passionate people in the indie industry, these are the people I want/need to help build a company we can all make a living from, and at the same time make the quality games the industry desperately needs. Cheers! -
I think this script does exactly what you need and more. I believe you can turn off the other features like location and items, and just use the characters option. http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/topic/7020-journal/ Hope this helps!

Now that you mention it, I think it would be cool to have the option to change between the different types of following part members. In a line is good for like caves, dense forest, any tight quarters. Loose party all following the leader is good for normal rpg style where one person leads. Then having them loose follow each one after the other, is good for things like children or zombie packs, loose groups of things. I think with all three types of following a game would seem very dynamic. I too am not suggesting this addition, I am just now realizing how diverse a following system truly could be and how awesome it would look. Then again the limits are almost always endless.

Internet Website Builder/Admin Needed (Paid Job)
Jon Bon replied to Jon Bon's topic in Computers, Internet and Tech Talk
@ Pol, yeah I definitely think my provider would cap me, I would likely have to get a business line, which is more or less out of the question. I think renting server space for other needs and using web hosting for my site will be the best bet. Thanks for all the input, it's always best to explore all avenues, and I appreciate the help. @ Marked, Hmm yeah I started looking around, and i did notice, it was easier then I originally thought to point and click myself a real .com. I just fear someone technically owning my domain name and holding it ransom in the future or something silly. If you can set my site up in half an hour, would you be willing to do that in the near future, like when you have free time? What would you need from my end, buy the programs, and domain name, that it? Again I appreciate the help from everyone. -
That is definitely funny. I could see an animated character saying that, in an Alice in Wonderland type setting. Mad Hatter at the table or something. I might actually use that in writing at some point if you don't mind, it can convey cognitive impairment very quickly in a witty manner. I'd of likely laughed up some food or drink when hearing that.
