My opinion, and that's all it is, would be to definitely zip/compress it somehow as that will make it easier to send and receive. Off the top of my head for game size, I know that picture format type makes as difference, and I believe rmxp takes two types at least, and to be honest I don't know if it would matter if you used one or the other. On the same note, all your audio may or may not be in the smallest sized format, those would be two things to consider if possible to reduce size. Obviously you would be diplomatic about it, as to not alienate future clients/consumers, but at the same time, yeah definitely, 'screw them' to a certain degree. Definitely consider your file size when making your game, much like writing code, make it efficient. But at the same time, most serious gamers will wait 1 whole day to play their game, as most console and pc games may take time to install, download patches, wait for que times if online, etc, etc. Waiting to play your game until tomorrow should really be realistic now adays, everyone wants instant gratification, but I mean if you are a gamer you can't tell me you don't have something else to play while you wait type thing. People who want their game/product 'now, now, now' are fan boys, and aren't your true fan base anyhow, they're just your coin purse. And fan boys are easy to get. I think as long as the download link is decent, and the time is reasonable for the size, the megabytes or gigabytes it uses shouldn't matter. I don't mean to insult anyone here, or anywhere/one for that matter, but what kind of PC gamer are you/they if you don't have at least 1 external teraquad drive for all your 'crap' which should allow sufficient room on your internal drive to game it up. Know what I mean? At the very least I would think a reasonable person wouldn't be turned away by the file size, that's like not trying eating something because it looks or smells funny, only children do that. Hope my opinion helps, but I tend to view things how they should be, not how they are.

Update: I went over this site and picked the scripts from our members that I think will apply nicely to the game. I added them above in the gameplay section but will list them here too for ease. Comments are welcome as I still have yet to pick a combat system. I also have the basic concept for the tileset colored a little better, and put a small touch of detail into it. I have yet to make environment objects, as I am waiting until I am completely satisfied with the look and feel of the tileset. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like now, comments are more than welcome, are needed, I want to know how it looks and feels, if people will think it matches the style of a 'computer world'. Remember this is still conceptual and I don't need comments on completion yet, I know the sidewalk isn't completed, and road merging center needs work, but I need comments on if the color scheme is working, or if it needs to be brighter or darker etc, design insight, rather then completion insight. And here is the door in it's unlocked and open animation. There are also locked, and malfunction animations, but I didn't make a GIF for those. I still have to make/find a color palette similar to this for the characters, but I am spending most my time on this project on the tileset for now.

Someone here should add generational aspects to their game. In Dragon Warrior 5, you actually start as the grandfather of the real hero, and get to pick a wife, and reach a point where it flashes forward to your child, and it takes 3 generations to defeat the evil. One of the best ideas I had ever seen.

Agreed it'll likely yield faster and more accurate results if we can back and forth. I do have and actively use Skype, I have however been keeping it off recently, as my friends all have more time now and want to play video games where I would rather make them. I mostly agree. They are likely reptile if non magical based, I left that unsaid on purpose, as a Platypus is the mammal that lays eggs, no reason a dragon couldn't be a mammal too. Also since they are magical based in most mythology and can also choose any shape they want, because of this I refuse to say in stone dragons are reptiles, as I believe that is likely their most preferred chosen form that is acceptable to show humans and for procreation. In any event the point was to show it could go either way, as I said, that's the beauty of creative license, you can make dragons mammals if you want, it's up to the inventor of the mythos to choose whatever they want.

That's the exact problem with creative inspiration sometimes, people will expect what they know, rather than think what's different/unique or even appropriate/accurate. Ever seen the Alien series? The female aliens in that have no breasts at all, and it's still very clear which the female is, it's the one birthing eggs. What about dwarves, in some mythos they are 'gender neutral'. Then there are examples of non 'traditional female roles' in non-fiction, like spiders and praying mantis who the females are the dominant of the species by eating their mate after copulation, or Penguins who the males tend the eggs, or even sea horses where the males actually 'birth' the new life. Since dragons are mythical, but also potentially 'from earth' I like to think they wouldn't necessarily be the 'same ol' creature' like other stuff, but be more unique, like the stuff mentioned above. I don't see why the 'green' and 'large' dragons can't be female, and the 'purple' and 'small' dragons can't be male, know what I mean? To be perfectly honest if someone told me a dragon needed "boobs" to be a female I would likely politely explain to them that breasts are the mammary gland of mammals. Dragons almost always give birth to eggs and are very unlikely to be mammals, and there for are also likely not to have 'boobs'. But like I said creative license, to each his own, but I think it's weird.

They don't necessarily need breasts to be more feminine, since its a dragon/beast, there is no guarantee they actually have teats in order to feed their young etc. Since dragons are normally magical based, I would go so far as to say the females don't have breasts at all, and neither 'gender' would even have reproductive organs, they would likely procreate through the use of magic. Having that in mind, one could really just make any variation and just say that is the 'female' version, since even in nature the size, color difference, sound etc. is not standard when comparing the opposite sex. This is kinda what I was thinking when I started mine, and hadn't really planned on adding 'breasts' per se, just really having a smaller/more narrow chest. But that's the beauty of the creative license.

Understood. I should have asked first, it's all good anyhow I'll need that size for my game. To be honest, now that I look at your numbers, let's break it down here. If link is 27 pix wide, how much 'bigger' would the Daira be? If you see here, a comic photo, you'll notice link just off frame to the right, and he is roughly 4/5 the size of the alligator main aka Daira. So what are we thinking for an end result, maybe a 30x50? This would be super easy to edit him smaller, but if I have parameters before hand it'll help. If you have any way to show me some of the stuff you are current working with, I would be more than happy to match it accordingly. If you want, we can also work together to figure out a standard size and basic comparison to each other sprite and rework the sprites as needed. I am totally willing to help with this, so let me know what you think, or how you need/want to proceed with the size etc. As an example, I think mario and luigi are in fact shorter than link, but only adult link, I think smash brothers would be a good game to consult for size comparisons.

Very cool. Maybe you could have different shifts, like in Breath of Fire (Series from Snes on where the main character was part dragon). That way you could have a graphic that is his normal sprite but with wings and scales, so like half dragoin/half human, and have another shift where he is full dragon and similar colors to his hair color. Just a thought, I love the idea of a dragon hero, and it would be cool if he had multiple shifts. Love the idea, and I look forward to see it.

Alright, all 'done'. Let me know if you like it etc. Few things. I added it to a simple horizontal sheet, as I had no idea how you planned to animate it. Also it's 5 frames total, the repeat being the 6th, I think yours was the repeat being the 5th, which if so is no big problem, I can fix that right up, so let me know. If you need any alterations, or adjustments etc, let me know I would be more than happy touch it up for you as needed, don't be shy. Finally I wanted to know if you wanted this to be exclusive or if I could release it to the public, I don't mind it either, way just want to be sure before I post it else where. Hey nice, I was messing around trying to make a female too. Only did 1 frame of the two sides so far. I'll post it here when finished, here is what she looks like so far. That other stuff is awesome nice post, are they yours or others, for credit? I had the same idea you did, just kept going with it. Oh my goodness! I definitely remember you, spoke with you and your girlfriend/wife I believe in chat, I tested the demo of your game out. Loved it, and haven't forgotten. I am so glad you came back and have still been working on your game etc. I am extremely looking forward to seeing it when it's complete. Yup, in a transition at the moment, Game Dev Unlimited launches soon I am told though, so that's good. I do hope to see you around more for sure, as your current project is amazing. -Cheers! -
Sounds good to me, I wanted to hit some of those up, the Daira specifically I wanted to include in my game, so when the time comes I will make sure to start with those ones. I haven't done any work with minkoff sheets yet, but I am familiar with it, and have done a bit of research. I will try with the Daira and see what I come up with making both the standard and minkoff sheets. Here is something I did today as a test to see what a Daira would look like in my/the rmxp style. Let me know what you think. Just one frame, one side, no weapon or tail yet, but a good idea of what it will look like when I am finished, let me know if it'll match with your game etc. -Cheers!

Love your story wii, totally classic name creation. My handle is my birth name, well shortened, as it's actually Jonathon, but I don't much like my full name given name. My family name however rocks, and combined with the short version of my first name, I get allot of "Hey, like Jon Bon Jovi?" etc, so it's a great conversation starter, and an excellent dating tool back in the day. I really like hearing about peoples gamer name origins. You can hear the craziest stories that way sometimes. I hear allot of people tell me their PlayStation Network ID name is random because they couldn't get what they wanted. I always tell them, well you weren't original enough, ha! (Favorite thing)+(birth year) is definitely an awesome name creation tool, and if I had to make a new permanent handle, I would likely use that. But alas I picked one I used to get all the time and was uncommon, long before google, wikipedia, and mass internet usage, ha! Now I'm lucky if Jon Bon isn't picked the day a site goes up! Let's here some more gamer name explanations everyone!

That definitely helps. I think 'Sensual' will be a great term to describe that aspect of your name sake, and I can definitely work off that. I haven't written your bio yet, but when I do I'll post an update here (if you want to write anything/add key points for your character at any time, feel free, as I notice you are a writer). Thank you for your time and consideration on this project, I really appreciate it, both from you and the other Legends members. I hope to have something you will all be proud to have your name sakes star in. Update: Nothing major. I found a nice neon color palette and swapped the colors out, the tileset looks much better now. I am going to add more detail and create some environment objects and post a new concept screen shot when something worth commenting about is available. I have started thinking about scripts in the back of my head, and once I get a solid start on the tileset I will begin testing scripts and asking for suggestions etc.

Hey, whether it's condition based or not, straight truth is an asset. People who don't want to hear it, simply want to shroud themselves in half truths and convoluted lives. I operate in the same manner, I give people the straight and narrow, I have no time for sugar coatings, extenuating circumstances aside of course. I should have no problem writing for that type of style, heh. Awesome thanks for the sprite, I will definitely use it. I appreciate the enthusiasm and I am glad you would like to have a character included. As far as hypersexual goes, I can definitely include that theme, and keep it clean and comical, have you seen kids shows lately? Ha! But, specifically, would you say more in a, flaunt it if you got it manner ("Flirtatious"), or like a giggle when when you hear potential sexual innuendos?(example: "Ha, you said 'unit'.").("Coy") I can definitely play off either/both in an appropriate manner, let me know if you have a preference.

Haha yeah! I was kinda thinking Tron world too, tis why I put the grid type look on the building. Gonna finish the top and bottom, and make it look more like wire frame. I definitely have a Tron theme in mind as well, I think the trick will be to try and make things 'glow' with brighter/neon colors. I'll fiddle around with the tile set and see if I can get a more 'Tron' feeling.
