Recently I have noticed a lot of members signatures on the forums taking up the entire screen, which I think is a bit excessive. So now there is a limitation of the size. If the signature is greater than 400px, a scrollbar will appear and to see the entire sig a member will have to scroll down. It's not exactly a limitation but it looks much better now when viewing topics.

Its not racism because they are sayians and freeza is....well something else. He called them monkeys coz they kinda DO turn into giant monkeys. Its slavery but where doesn't that happen? And I think the sayians liked destroying planets, its more of a job. Not everything is racist. Honestly I find this silly.

301 Redirect a Query String without a pattern
Marked posted a topic in Programming & Web Development
301 Redirect a Query String without a pattern The following is how to redirect a URL which has query strings, and the new URL has no pattern. Query strings, also called GET variables, are the variables visible in the URL. For example, index.php?f=10&page=5. There are plenty tutorials out there they tell you how to redirect a query string to a URL which has a pattern. But I couldn't find one that expressly shows how to redirect query strings to a random URL. Ok so here's how you can do it. Firstly you need a .htaccess file of course, that's where all this stuff goes. In it you must have this line first of all: RewriteEngine On Now for this tutorial I will use our own menu system. Say you have this URL: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/index.php?option=com_zoo&view=category&Itemid=227 And you want it to redirect to this: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/scripts/rmvx In your .htaccess file you put the following: RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} option=com_zoo&view=category&Itemid=227 RewriteRule ^index.php /scripts/rmvx? [R=301,L] Hope this helps one random googler one day :) -
I merged your posts. Yes, you're not supposed to see that. I accidentally assigned the wrong set of screenshots to that item. Try it now: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/scripts/rmxp/item/chrono-trigger-cms As I said, I haven't had time to thoroughly test. I appreciate the error reporting :)

I've actually been aware of the error the moment the upgrade was complete. I think I've come up with a solution. I edited the file causing the issue and it stopped for me. When these database errors occur they are logged which isolates the error. I'll be checking it to see if its still happening, then we can finally close this topic. Sorry it took so long for me to do this... :sweatdrop:

Since many members seem to not be prefixing their topics, I've added a little reminder in specific forums. Example: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=post§ion=post&do=new_post&f=14

What exactly are you asking for? Are you looking for the script?
-
Great, although it's been possible to do that for some time. But it is not possible to make submissions yet until I set it up. The authors of the software finally released font-end submission and that's the reason I decided to upgrade. Having briefly looked over it, its not possible to submit screenshots yet and category selection is complicated. I would have done this sooner but since no one submitted a script to the archives in the past, I didn't think this would be in high demand.
-
That is the submitter I made, we won't be using it. I haven't setup the proper submission page yet. I'm not sure what you mean by 4 parts. Do you mean 4 scripts? In that case, not at the moment. The general rule is that if there is more than 1 script necessary, a demo should be used and uploaded instead.

In order to make way for new sections, the outdated RGSS Script Archives needed to be upgraded a little bit. As a consequence the menus have been reshuffled and I took this opportunity to finally to use real friendly URLs on the website. The reason why I waited so long is that of course when change the URL of content it causes 404s. But I will be setting up redirects for every script archive item and every menu item, and that will keep me busy for a while... Okay onto the archives. Here's what I mean by friendly URLs, look how simplified they are: RMVX Archive: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/scripts/rmvx RMXP Archive: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/scripts/rmxp Whats New -Screenshot on category/listing view as well as the introduction -The scripts (where possible) are displayed on the page as well as a downloadable .txt file -The on-page scripts have syntax highlighting nearly identical to that in the engines (Example) -Downloads no longer use our downloads manager. The scripts in the downloads manager will redirect to the items -Internal comments. This means the comments made are stored in our DB so everyone can make comments using their accounts -Alpha Index now displays items instead of categories only Even though there wasn't too much to do for the upgrade (apart from revising each item at least 3 times) it took me a while because it's nearing the half way point of the semester for me which means tests.. so I rushed through it a little bit. I haven't time to test every item thoroughly. So we can use this topic for bugs, suggestions, etc. I'll get to work on setting up all the redirects shortly...

Forum Page is acting weird
Marked replied to rgangsta's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
This issue is discussed here: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/topic/5297-upgrade/ The banner disappears, the text goes blue, and the width of the index changes. Anyway, I'll close this topic since its already been talked about in the Upgrade topic. -

A wee bit early for google adsense I think. Those guys tried scamming me, actually. I got a letter from google offering me $50 free adwords, but once the $50 was used it, it would start charging from by bank or whatever. Therefore I'm boycotting adwords. Its not like us students can afford such things anyways. -
I edited your post. The media tags are supposed to be used for youtube vids even though there's also youtube tags. It's fixed now :)

Not necessarily. It does depend on your goals... If you want to be competitive and have the majority of activity on your site then perhaps. But I've seen websites start up and thrive on nothing more than just a great community. An example is Rpgm.org which became very popular in a short amount of time and only closed down in the end because the admin thought it was time. And stop scaring him  The more people starting up their sites the more people benefit. Competition benefits all :) -
It's really sad to see you go, you're an important member in the community... I'm glad you were here for the time you were and I hope to see you back here one day soon. Goodluck and Goodbye for now.

Yup. The blogs are pretty inactive really. It's not exactly an error, I just haven't got around to it. Perhaps I would be more motivated to do it if people made more entries. Right now I've been working on the scripts section for like a week. So little time... so much to do... In the default skin the background is white, therefore there doesn't need to be white under the comments. Therefore when you change the background to a dark color, that happens.

You have a point Kage Kazumi. The issue is quite a complicated one I think. I think that some members chicken out about whether their topic is worth posting in the Cafe or not, so they just end up posting in the Spam forum. A lot topics in their are decent topics that should be in the cafe, but they just don't do it. For that reason I think it would definitely more harmful than beneficial to remove it. Even though what you said is probably true. It's been some time since I made this topic. I think the spam has died down but I haven't been able to get on too much.

That wasn't so bad, Chief ^_^ I particularly agree with you on four and six. You do remind me a lot of me when I started out. Although I started right at the bottom in terms of web knowledge and I also started with free forum software. I got this far: http://z3.invisionfree.com/RPGXP_Unlimited/index.php?act=idx I started when I was 15 and I'm turning 20 next month  so much time. People are saying you can't get far on free forum software. While I think it does limit the potential of growth of the site I still think its worth trying. When I decided to move this forum to real hosting, I didn't have any money or resources to do it, but I still managed to do it. If you want to know a host which I think offers good free hosting, I'll give you the link. We used to be hosted there a few years back. -
RGSS Script Text Document Format
Marked replied to Marked's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
Ok, sorted :). I'm converting our current scripts to that format and then the new archives will be online. I will also include (where possible) scripts on the page using a syntax highlighter, but within a spoiler type thing. And of course, members will be able to add their own. -
Over the past few days I have been working the RGSS Script Archives on my offline test site (I'll announce it when its released). But I've come up a slight dilemma... A lot of the single-script scripts contain downloadable RTF files which you can copy and paste from. Example: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/index.php/rmxp/rgss1-scripts/item/custom-menu-systems/custom-skill-screen.html However when I first made the scripts archive I didn't have microsoft word installed, and when I download these it will open in that (unless I go out of my way, but these things need to be done with the assumption people cannot do computer stuff). Mircosoft word tries to make things all pretty and screws with the scripts. So what format do you guys think is best (to minimize errors) ? Do you think that there should even be a file?, perhaps an online version (the script is displayed in the browser but not on the page, just the raw script), or perhaps an RMXP/RMVX demo containing the script, even though that is all the demo is. I have tried having the script on the page and it always had trouble copying. This will be included in this version but not relied on. What do you guys think?
-
I moved your topic to RMXP Support. Do you have a link to the script we can see?
-
Yeah I haven't been able to get on much over the past few days. Just report it Franklin and we'll sort it out.
