Original Topic ContentTomorrow I will be pruning all the modifications on the forum in an attempt to clean up the database, which will hopefully make it run better. The main reason is the forum lag, which was posted about here: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2504 It will also get rid of the unused modifications that no one uses. The downloads, blogs and gallery will remain. These modifications were going whether I remove them now or not, so its inevitable they go. I have an upgrade planned which will delete everything except the essential data(posts, topics, members etc.). But since I don't when this will happen yet, I'm not announcing anything. Now there is something you guys should take a note of. Attempting to remove all database modifications can be a risky task, and anything could really happen. I did it once successfully in 2007, but the database was a lot smaller and there were fewer members on it. I'll make a backup, but if something does go wrong with the database, it may take a couple of days to restore. What I'm expecting to happen is I run the database optimization script, test the forums to see what happened, get a random error, then fix the random error. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I'll have to re-upload the files again because some edits of original files rely on the database. Therefor there will be approximately an hour of downtime, if things go well. Worse case scenario, well it can take a long time to restore, especially since the amount of data has probably trippled since I did it last. Alright guys, I've decided to leave for a month. You guessed it, exam time. Unfortunately I find it necessary to separate myself from this forum in order to get in enough study. This time is a little different. Im out of highschool now, and the next chance I get to pass these exams is in a years a time at the cost of thousands of dollars if im not kicked out of my house for failing. Thats what they motivate me with... My last exam is on the 23rd of June, so expect me back then. I got a semester break and a whole bunch of updates to follow, as promised. I'll check the forums reasonably often, but probably not from my own computer. If anyone has any study tips for me, please post them below. Our educational system is so corrupt that it wasn't absolutely necessary for me study THAT hard up until this point... :P

Alright, well I'm looking into how I can get that working on the website. One way is to modify blog extensions, but I don't have any where near enough time to mess with php scripts at the moment. So just keep in mind that I am working on this.

Do you know what kind of games you can get for ipod touches and iphones? I took a screenshot from my ipod(can you do that on them) of the types of games you can play: NFSI even drifted it for you, Kiriashi AND i have a GBA emulator on it. Oh, sorry guys. I DID look into when i searched Daemon Tools and saw you could purchase it, so assumed, my mistake. I will increase my warning meter by 10% since you guys ganging up on me. I dont use the mounting tools anymore. I only play games to cure boredom on my ipod :P so no mounting necessary. By the way, I was mounting in early 2007, is it just me or is the first time you try mounting really difficult?

Most people get that impression when first looking at VX, even myself. But when I had a look at some VX games, that actually looked quite nice. The maps are way less detailed, but it makes it so much easier to map. To map in XP takes a lot of skill to get it looking really good. But the maps in VX do look decent if you were to look at what some people have done with them. I really think RMVX has some nice advantages over RMXP. Although if i were to make a project, I would still choose RMXP. I also heard a rumor that the next RPG Maker will be continued from RMXP. Makes sense they're bringing out a new one with the release of Windows 7, they seem to be complementary releases.

Yeah, at one stage I had a massive lead. Something like 500 views. Then out of no where Pols shot up, probably due to one really inactive stage and he was posting the most. Ae Pol? I've added suggestions so far to the first post. Seems like you guys are interested in 3D game making? We're a 2D gaming community obviously, do you think it would work or be beneficial if we mixed it up with 3D engines also? (please give me some feedback) If so, then I'd add 3D Game Studio. With that engine you can use C-Script, C++ or C-Lite which is a really powerful and simple scripting language. The only issue with this is the members who whinge about RMXP being too difficult wont stand a chance.

I have photoshop, so... it satisfies my graphical needs. So I don't pay attention to free ones. @Kiriashi: The topic's for free programs, I'm pretty sure Daemon tools and Alcohol120% cost money. Although they're pretty useful I'll agree, especially if you're like me and have never bought a CD in your life.

That sounds like a really cool program you're working on. I'll finish working on the site during the week. I've been a little caught up with tests the past couple days.

Thanks for your reply Kiriashi. So what you'd like to see we already have in progress, thats good. With Game Maker, you're probably right the GM forums. I think I saw them once and its a forum made by the owners of Game Maker? So obviously they have a huge percentage of GM users already loyal to them. Although there are also the RPG Maker giants in .ORG and rpgrevolution, which leave us with a very small portion of the community. Point being, we should still at least give it a go. I think we should try as many engines that are popular as we can, as trials, and weed out the ones that do not get any response. So do any others come to mind? This is just for suggestions so you guys have a say, in the end the administrators will finalize which engines we'll choose to have a place for.

Do you think I live in Europe? I live in New Zealand in the pacific ocean, no where near Europe. When I was referring to primary school I was referring to those grades also. Some primary schools go up to grade 8, and some stop and 6 where they go to an intermediate, your equivalent of middle school or junior high. For me, I went from primary school to highschool. All our ethnic groups got on just fine. We often settled our differences on the rugby field at lunchtime :D good times. Of course not, I did not mean because of the way you tell things like you see them. You used the term "overboard", right? Example: If I hated someone, i could say or just think bad things about them. To go overboard would be to physically hurt or kill them or something like that. So by using the term overboard, in that sense, infers some following in those beliefs. White supremacists follow Hitler right? I am ashamed to say that we do have those kinds of people, and I dont think there is place for them here. Here's a story about them from a town a spent my highschool days in: I don't think they were exactly white supremacists, but people just referred to them as skinheads. Anyway, these skinheads used to live in my town(before I was there) and they used to cause so much trouble, and everyone was annoyed by them. For those who know nothing about New Zealand, rugby is our most popular sport and there are clubs in almost every town. Anyway, one of the local rugby teams was sick and tired of all the skinheads that invaded the town. So they called up the Police and told them they were going around to sort out the skinheads. The Police replied: "Don't kill anyone, and we'll take the long way there". And that was the end of the skinheads. That kind of thing is completely unheard of here. The kids do drugs though, but if they get caught then they're stood down. Damn i hated the kids who did nothing in gym class or PE as we call it. I think if it wasn't for PE I may not have it through highschool, it was seriously the greatest time at school ever. Especially field games. Anyone played touch rugby? Greatest game ever. Also guns in schools is pretty unheard of as well, possibly because only hunters really have guns. There arn't many guns here.... but there are the occasional knife threats on teachers from the really disturbed kids. But you know, I grew up in a really great place.

America seriously has that reputation. Guns in schools. I hear in some states now the teachers are allowed to carry guns for protection? And thats at primary school level? Yes I know that, but the post is contradictory when you refer to race. Even though im acting on personal opinion, its my job to do prevent discrimination of any kind, thats not to say I necessarily think this topic is. I will leave it open for discussion, although I think I may have killed it. You will strike out the remark? With the above quote, do you understand why I find both those sentences concerning? :( To not go overboard by becoming a white supremacist means that you still follow those beliefs in some way, even if just a little. Its like saying yeah I dont like them, but im not going to go as far as become a white supremacist. Am I wrong?

formlesstree, there are definitely racist elements in your post. There is no doubt about it. I'm deciding whether or not to close this topic to avoid offending people. I'm offended. There are black people on this forum, and one of them was a staff member. Why would you label your topic racism when you are claiming it is not racist? The fact is, every characteristic that you named such as gangs and reaction to racism happen within all races. Have you heard of white power? Even my country of 4million has that kind of gang. Actually we have both white power and black power gangs. Some minorities in all countries live in poverty and do not have supporting families. We all have equal ability to succeed academically, epically within secondary schools. Perhaps formlesstree, if you lived in one of the families I am referring to(no offense to your family what so ever), you would be failing also. I certainly would be. Although I do acknowledge there is a large difference in passing rates or academic success within some cultures or minorities. Unless you can justify this sentence by saying you were referring to the gangs, this is plain racism and that is unacceptable. The fact that you say "other races" shows you are talking about that race. If thats true then take race out of the equation, this is the same in ALL cultures!

Yeah, I am planning to have that kind of feature. However I've laid off installing any mods or doing anything else because I'm planning to upgrade the forum soon which will also allow better website integration. So its probably a good idea to bring this up again after the update? It will happen within about a month.
