  4. Thanks, I'm glad you like it. We got some nice systems. I got way off track at one point but things are stable now. It probably would have been better to have these systems a few years ago :P But nvm, that's how things go. I am quite keen to complete my work here with a games section, a slightly advanced, customizable and full-featured system. I feel like if I don't, the past couple of years of learning to write websites would be a waste. With all the systems I've already written and the awesome JS/interface plugins out there, should be good.
  5. In Ace I think you can chuck an "$" at the start of the filename to get it to recognize 4x4 char sprites.

It's the same in PHP, which I'm totally pro @. hit = self.damage < 0 ? 100 : 100 - eva Lemme rewrite this for you in expanded form (in php syntax coz I duno ruby if statements, som imma chuck in some semi colons) if(self.damage < 0){ hit = 100 }else{ hit = 100 - eva } Therefore what we're looking at is a shorthand for an if statement. Simple right? The first one (100) is if the question we're asking is true, and the second (100 - eva) is the value if the question is false.

I've been working on expanding existing stuff lately. Even though I'm busy, I just had the idea of how to get the comments system to integrate with topics/posts and had to write it up. It's really cool how it works :grin: I can retrieve all new comments and posts in a single query. Which of course makes it faster. I'll also be working on speed when I get time :)

  14. Hi all, Super cool update #1 I'm very pleased to announced that I finally got around to creating thumbnails for the resources. Until now, viewing the resources section would suck your bandwidth (the site's too) and take ages to load because the full images were being loaded in the category view. Now, each image has a tiny super compressed progressive jpeg thumbnail, meaning those pages should load up super quick! Once you click a thumbnail, the original good quality image will load up. Eg Super cool update #2 In case you guys didn't notice, I've been working on the comments system a fair bit lately. The major update is reworking the system so that each script, tutorial, collective (and all the others to come) are linked their own topic table in the database...blah blah... enabling me to have every new content item, topic, comment etc show up in the latest posts module. Previously I had to run like 1,000 queries to the DB to get all that info in a single list. So, commenting and actually creating scripts/tuts is exactly the same as posting and creating topics, in that sense. Comments have expanded to tutorials and the new collective series we'll be running from now on.   15. Yep - this one's likely to stay a while. I was thinking about changing it very seriously, but then when I broke the theme integration and got a nu forum design I decided I liked it. Howev's, after exams, I've been meaning to do an epically large major rehaul of the CSS. I'm gona try switch out bootstrap for UIKit (css frameworks) and also strip the site's entire CSS and add back used styles. There's CSS currently here from the very first GDU design. All these redesigns and additions... it's just got so messy. Anyway, that'll make the site load slightly faster, so that's good.

  18. Thanks for letting me know. It's not the unicode I think, with inserting stuff into the DB I gotta convert certain characters for security reasons then convert them back... something's gone wrong in that process I think. I'll have to check it out. Pretty sure all stuff is the usual UTF-8.

  21. I can do the second but the first is unnecessarily tedious. The descriptions are shown in all the tutorial listings, therefore all I want there is a few lines of text. A list with bullet points will start to make things messy. EDIT: Alright I've got your posts in there now. Do you know how to approve tutorials? Since you're a moderator you can do so. Looks finished but I'll leave it for you to approve.
