  1. What do you think about a news forum where GDU keeps you update with all types of news and current events going on in the indie game development world? It would be a sub-forum of the main news and there could be a feed on the homepage, forum index, etc.
  2. Oh damn... That's slavery. Humans can't function properly like that, you'd probably be more productive getting more sleep and doing less hours. Stupid employer. Unless you had something REALLY important to do.
  3. Nope, there's a limit of 20 connections. That's a limit imposed by the web socket we use, pusher.com. Hasn't been a problem so far :) It's a shame we have that limit though... I really wanted to create push notifications so you get notified as something happens.
  4. Certainly isn't, why aren't you getting your sleep? That's just really unhealthy.
  5. Better or worse?

I love the white texture aka the little cross lines!! I believe this is the keeper! It makes the focus on the content much more powerful!

  6. Yeah. Sounds good. By the way, I got emailed your original post :P I'm glad you realized the contradiction there.
  7. It can get complicated. It's definitely easy to learn but it's not easy to figure out on your own how to use it correctly, or efficiently. It's not the actual language itself that's difficult. You have to think about the length of your CSS files, conflicts, classes or ID's. GDU probably has 10,000+ lines of CSS, mostly 3rd party. There's also this thing called LESS which allows you to program CSS. It includes variables and stuff like that. I've been meaning to learn it so I can make GDU's design customizable.
  8. There is a 20 second lag with the counter. I will check later to see if its working.
  9. I deleted what you said about the forum background. Honestly, stop it. You're getting annoying. There's a topic specifically for the forum background and stop being annoying be posting it in random posts. If you had actually read the post about this very background you would know its not permanent, I had to quickly replace the old one because its from a well known game.
  10. Accordingly to my Google Analytics tracking there have been 0.03% of visits using IE6 in the last month, so it wouldnt make sense for me to do anything for IE6. And of some of our most popular clients I didn't even see any IE6 users :) It really depends on your target audience. If you're going to get a lot of older people visiting then it makes sense to optimize for IE6. I'm really struggling to find anything significant through the accounts my company is tracking.
  11. To be honest, back when I first launched GDU in September I made a quick attempt and trying to figure this out. I've got all the CSS and I loaded it up but it just wouldnt change any thing. It's odd. Maybe it was missing. The GDU system loads its own CSS and the forum's CSS is disabled, so its possible and likely I've something somewhere. I'm thinking of a new CSS system though where IPB loads the CSS onto the page, that way the right CSS can be loaded at the right times, which I cant acheive loading through my own system. Well I do, but i don't do it well lol and some is obviously missing. The IPB css files are not very organized. You got one file with 90% of the CSS, 3,000+ lines.
  12. I think they've taken a great approach here. You've a product that has a hugely negative reputation. Imagine if they did the usual talk up why its so good. I think its clever. Still not gona try it lol These days when I make websites for clients, if its accessed with IE6 you will get a screen telling you to upgrade to a modern browser, including a newer version of IE. It still has a link to bypass the screen, but essentially we just dont optimize for IE6 anymore, its a waste of time. It's not only difficult but hardly anyone uses it. People are rapidly becoming more internet savvy which is great for me (although hopefully I wont be design websites for too much longer :P)
  13. I wrote a nice long post about web development and accidentally refreshed the page. Well f**k. :( Why put the refresh key ® next to the new tab key grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  14. In a shocking twist, moonpeal steals the lead!
  15. Check out the new IE 10 ad. It's quite interesting :) I like how they acknowledge the past and peoples views on the previous versions.
  16. D: I'm impressed bob, that was a good answer.
  17. Good to see you're active there. Do you post links to your websites there too, or just rpg maker support? Jk :) RPG Maker is over for forums.
  18. Good work, Bob! Yes, I just had no idea you were talking about the breadcrumbs. I guess I figured no one would click the home in the breadcrumbs (also called a pathway) because when you're up there, there are 3 links that take you home, 4 if you include the logo, and the breadcrumbs link is the smallest and mainly used for going backwards. The link is set to nothing so it will either reload the same page or jump to the top. I get depressed when people say. There will be a million things you're not aware of. I bet you have no idea about the member map or where the link to it is....
  19. The problem is who is running it. He or they seem quite young and the guy threw a tantrum when i called him out on something on their favebook page. Not to mention the daylight robbery of selling these tiny resource packs.. holy shit. Can soneone please make competing resources and release them for free?
  20. Thanks for posting this :) Just reply so you don't think I ignore these topics. Good news is that I will start to clean up all these little forum bugs real soon. Just simple CSS errors. I don't think you've caught anything I'm not aware of, but keep trying! ;)
  21. I almost don't believe you D: Browser?
  22. I cant imagine why it wouldnt work right now. It is an icon font with a link wrapped around it, no reason that link wouldnt work...
  23. Lol are you scared of something? The CSS for the gallery is missing. You won't find any gallery that looks like this, its a bug. You can come out and say it looks stupid if thats what you think :P
  24. Welcome to GDU :) That's exactly how I got into this sort of thing. My older brother had RM2k3 (or maybe just 2000) and he also had a ton of DBZ resources, and I was only interested in making a DBZ game, starting with Roshi's island :P That's when I was 14 or 15, which seems a long time ago these days.
