  1. Yup you should. I also made you following all of the Ace forums a few days ago already so that would happen.
  2. Finally, I have nothing to do for the first time in a long time.

    1. Broken Messiah

      Broken Messiah

...and then that random memory occurs.

  3. Well if you want more downloads, maybe try and work on presentation a bit more. I know this is in the early development forum, but you could read this topic for some pointers: http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/topic/9422-guidelines-for-established-games-topics/ And when you think your game is ready, contact a mod to be moved to established games.
  4. I apologize for lack of moderators we have right now. Moved to RPG Maker VX Ace support. Also let me show you a brand new feature: Best answer. See how your post is highlighted and shown at the top?
  5. Looks like a good site. The ads are a bit too intrusive for my taste though.
  6. Great :D No one else has any quotes? It can literally be from anything. I like the funny ones... like "if you see the bombsquad running in the opposite direction, you should follow them", etc.
  7. I never thought it was a scam, seems legit to me. They would have give up and ran after kickstarter right? Looking at the video I think it's great if they achieve their goals. I think a lot of really great games are going to pop up, and I can see what they mean by its going to open up a whole new business sector. I think it would be great to get those independent game developers game's on the market so they can develop and keep on developing. There will be far less barriers of entry into the market, which I think is beneficial for everyone. The thing I'd be skeptical of is whether or not they can get enough people to buy the console. There will be a lot more free games and probably a heck of alot cheaper than the main consoles, but will that drag people away from their more powerful, more expensive console?
  8. That is the point. Agreed. It should be considerably less buggy. Smilies are back :excited: I'll be fixing what I come across, but still feel free to report them to me. Right now, even that activity would be nice to get back to. I'm surprised no one has really asked, what is the difference between this site and the enterbrain forums? RMU is now like an alternative to official forums. Even that sounds like suicide. But we were dead the moment they opened their own forums, right? I'm gona put this in bold so people actually read it. This is not a site for enterbrain products. GDU -> RMU was a shift of focus to target our actual visitors, not our potential visitors. RPG Maker Web are profiteers and have ruined our work. My plan is to match them for their services, destroy them in website functionality, and do it all for free for everyone.
  9. The new "Create a Tutorial" page. Previously this page may have bee ambiguous. The reasons for the changes were that someone submitted a tutorial which was written completely into the introduction/description. So it must have looked like this was all there was to the tutorial editing system. The new page tries to make it obvious that this is the initial step to creating a tutorial. Once you fill out the preliminary details your tutorial is created for you, and you can then start the process of writing it up using the editing system. The "Create" button has been changed to "Continue" as well. I really want to get the point across that it's here for everyone to play around with. Members of a community like this should be sharing their knowledge, and this is a great tool for that. People just have to step out of the unknown and use something that isn't as simple as a forum topic. I will try to advertise the tutorials system with the new layout. There are many more specialized areas for little modules all over, so hopefully more people will be checking it out and seeing the beauty of the editing system.
  10. Couldn't you find this topic? What is different, apart from the interface and name? No one was posting anything non-RPG Maker. It was meant to be a surprise :shifty: I guess so. That's up to you. There's a whole bunch of people who don't bother anymore.
  11. Hi guys, What are your favorite quotes? I'm thinking about implementing a random quote system, for example (from Lizzie's quote of the day topic) It just generates a random quote from a list of quotes. There's a similar system over at CA: http://www.creationasylum.net I like their system, particularly the funny ones. They have all sorts of quotes from wise to funnies by community members. So lets see what we can come up with :)
  12. Thanks Shin, I wasn't expecting a positive response from you. This is here to stay. I haven't got the time or incentive to do anything so radical for a very long time. Actually its probably only an exceptional window of time in my life that I was able to do this. I didn't claim that this would solve our problems, although I stand by my point that it was harder for new RPG Maker-seeking visitors to realize that this is an RPG Maker site. And this new design focuses content with much easier navigation. Let me give you an example. GDU: Title: Game Dev Unlimited Menu item: Tutorials Sub-menu: RPG Maker VX Ace RMU Title: RM Unlimited Menu: RPG Maker VX Ace (every page I'm aware there's Ace content), sub-menu: Tutorials Here are the percentage of visitors who exit after just viewing one page (ie the page the entered the site on) So 62% of our visitors left the site immediately after landing on it. Which means they will never have made those 2 clicks to the Ace tutorials and may have never known they are on this site. I think this solves a few problems. Certainly have a lot more, but that don't necessarily depend on me. :P
  13. That's exactly right, Bob. I'm disappointed you don't have any more thoughts.
  14. Welcome to the 2nd Treasure Hunt contest. The GDU treasure seems to be lost forever At the bottom of the ocean along with GDU, and Jack. However, there's a rumor going around that there's a new, more illusive treasure. The RMU Kiwi: Rules Find the treasure. First member to post its location here wins. Hints -Kiwi's are nocturnal birds who hunt at night, hidden in the shadows. They are often found in the darkness. -Kiwi's are an endangered species, but there have been many sightings of the RMU Kiwi. If you're lucky enough, you may see it on almost any RMU page. Prize The prize is a 1-month subscription to the site. Please note that the subscription prize is mainly recognition of the winner and does not provide a real benefit in terms of site-usage as we do not have any official subscriber system.
  15. Did you ever post anything about Unity? I did see your reply to my Engines topic, and I had planned on adding the engines to our engines section. But as Lizzie says, we don't have the expertise. I'm the only one who does anything and more time than I ever should have, over the last few months (lets forget about the years) so I just can't do it. I disagree, I think there was very clear evidence showing that it could not have grown. Because in 4 months things went from bad to worse. If you want to compare the state of the site for most of 2012 (pre GDU) and then after, GDU brought about the site's slow death. I hated the GDU design. It was amateur and ugly. The main catalyst for change was the fact I came across a great indie game dev site that was all GDU was supposed to be. It had all the RPG Makers and it was just huge. I realized then that we are no one competing in a big market with nothing. And you know what, it was this, or nothing. I spent a month creating a tutorials system that no bothered to test out. It's like I'm the lift support machine for something that's never going to wake up. Last week was the end of GDU for me personally. But then this idea came into my head. So here we are. Try to convince me further that it was a bad idea.
  16. Welcome to... I made the decision to scrap GDU last week. Here's why. The concept of GDU was a website for all game makers. However, we've always been an RPG Maker website and we retained all of our content, which was only RPG Maker related. In hindsight, it was probably an impossible concept to achieve with no active non-RPG Makers. GDU was an RPG Maker forum, in the clothes of an all-round game development site. This probably just confused new users to the site and turned away RPG Makers. This is more like the old days. RM Unlimited, or RMU is our new name. For the change in branding, I have given the site design a complete overhaul and made our own unique template system even more sophisticated. This should become more obvious as we fill it with more content. It was a spontaneous decision to launch these changes live. Expect a few errors. Also, VX http://www.gdunlimited.net/engines/rpg-maker-vx I want to make these pages better, so please give feedback. Make games. Also, refresh the logo! This post was formatted but its not coming out with line breaks, first error to fix i guess :P
  17. I noticed that. I know we have a few talented artists around here :)
  18. If he was going to pay money for it I don't think he would have come here. Although no doubt he's posted this topic across a few forums.
  19. I don't get why drag n drop uploading is a big deal... it's much easier to just hit "upload"

    1. Polraudio

      Polraudio

Yea it is a little harder. i rather have a little file browser box popping up instead of trying to position my windows right so i can drag a file into it.

    2. Bigace360

      Bigace360

My computers retarted when it comes to dragging and dropping. instead of uploading the file to the site. It does something wierd and tries to download the file that I was uploading. So I just click upload, alot easier.

    3. Wyzrd

      Wyzrd

I agree. I would much rather just hit upload.

  20. More than that, he gave movie producers access to delete the files themselves. There's a bit more wrong with the crime as well. He's also being charged with conspiracy, which of course involves an intention (the state of mind) without the actual act. In some circumstances such a crime is necessary, but you know, you can see there needs to be a line draw before you start prosecuting people for their thoughts. And secondly, he was in New Zealand and it's the US who want to charge him under their jurisdiction. You can say the servers were in the US (which oddly, I think they were) but what connection did he have to them? Users from all over the world uploaded files onto servers inside the US. The size megaupload is, you simply cannot check every link, and if you did, they would rename them and put a password on the .zip on the warez forums. And lastly, with a mere extradition hearing pending, they took away all his assets. Here's short video of a NZ Barrister speaking in the High Court: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0a4iG5uFoQ
  21. Yup, big loss. Such an unnecessary death. 35 years for intent, he didn't actually complete the act and was facing that. Ridiculous. This is what Kim Dotcom tweeted toady: Pretty cool. I'm hoping they release their API so I can use the mega site for uploads/downloads via GDU. When you say 2MB you mean topic posts? In the tutorials section you don't actually have a limit, and similarly for the scripts section which I will make. I also made the manager to replace attachments, which has a 10mb limit. That 2MB limit has to do with the forum topics are temporary concept. But the reason I didn't make a games section is because on our current server we wouldn't be able to hold all that bandwidth, and we burn a lot as is. If we could utilize mega, that would be awesome.
  22. https://mega.co.nz/ Today the site that replaces megaupload.com has gone live. The original domain name was going to be me.ga, but that country disabled the domain under pressure from the US. Of course the US would love to shut down the New Zealand domain (.co.nz), but the New Zealand government won't give into the pressure from the US because they would have to publicly justify it, and the government is already getting its ass kicked by MEGA founder Kim Dotcom who was treated appallingly by the FBI and New Zealand's (currently) US-loving executive (I mean that in a negative way to the US administration, obviously). For those who don't know, Hollywood (the guys with the large cash-flow to the US government, more) are trying to set an example with Kim Dotcom and his alleged pirating of copyrighted materials, and that's why megaupload got shut down. They're trying to extradite him and lock him up, such is the US justice system which allows taking people's liberties for victimless crimes or crimes with little moral stigma (Hollywood's profits have never been higher). Or in this case, no crime at all. Aaron Swartz would agree. Or I should say, would have agreed. Kim Dotcom is currently kicking everyone's ass who is trying to lock him up: Both the US and New Zealand's governments who are willing to obliterate the liberties that all citizens are due. So, support MEGA.co.nz and support internet freedom. Mega is packed with awesome features/newest browser technologies, most notably data encryption as your files are uploading. So take a look and give it a test run.
  23. Welcome back Lizzie. Always good to have a RMXPU Legend return, no matter how short the visit. I must say, quite a timely return.
