  1. This avoids the NoNameError this is for transitioning purposes that I'm planning on building in later. already fixed the move errors for the up and left parts of the update. you can't call the older version or else it errors... are we talking RPGMXP or VX here?
  2. the point of the excersise is for ME to write it, not have someone else write it for me. So, I thank you for pointing errors out for me, but I'm not asking someone to write it, just critique what I've done wrong. I also apologize if that came across as being angry, I am not the most polite person here. EDIT: also, I have written the script out and fixed any known bugs/ errors. So if anyone has any further commenting, please limit them to critiques instead of errors Script's New Version: http://pastebin.com/1ZJduhbB thats for those of you who still want to look at it.
  3. Script actually agrees with RMXP now :) now to build the menu and windows

  4. alright, so its safe to just get rid of Move_win_x and move_win_y? I think I only put it in there because my refrence script had it in there. And I don't need to move windows diagonally, just need them moving in one direction so it works fine as long as I can move different windows in different directions.
  5. These are actually and legitimately helpful pearl thanks This explains why the initialize method was being a grouch :? actually, for what the script is going to be used for it doesn't matter if it can move diagonally or not. Does that also mean that one window cannot move along X while another window moves along y? [facepalm begin] Ok, that's my bad, that is a very good point and I have no idea why that didn't occur to me while I was writing the script. thanks [/facepalm end] I'm using the win_move_x and win_move_y to get the windows a purpose to start moving. Is this just a redundant failsafe I'm using?
  6. this was just a story that I HAD been writing, I figured you guys might like it if your of the fantasy/mideveil kind of person. Chapter One, Old Memories. The winds howled and the rain slashed at a tiny village huddled on the banks of a rushing, wild river. Sky blue eyes peered innocently around as a boy looked around a corner of a door. A mother hurried into a house a three riders, robed in Black emblazoned with red crosses across there chests and shoulders, rode in and slowed their mounts to a halt. A tall figure clothed in a pure white robe approaches from the local Chapel. "Where are the sleepers?" barked the rider in the middle. "Died in the wars of old" replied the man robbed in white replied. "Don't give me that pile of beast dung! Steltskin!" he barked, and the rider named Steltskin dismounted from the horse on the right. and started to bring out young men no older than 13 passes. "Ryan, Assist him." The unnamed rider ordered. The rider named Ryan dismounts, and proceeds to go about the same business as Stelskin. "I will not let you take away the hope of the future." The white robbed man gritted through his teeth as he stood in the way of both riders. "Ignore him." The unnamed rider stated, appearing to become annoyed with the man like a person does with a persistent insect. "As you wish Lord Morden." The riders reply in a chant like voice, the rider named Ryan attempted to shove the white robbed man out of the way, but the man only stood firm and made no move to walk from his spot. Then Stelskin threw his fist into the mans stomach. Making him keel over, unconciouse. Ryan didn't seem to notice as he just went to the next house, and pulled a boy out despite the mothers protests. The sky blue eyes that had so innocently peered out from before now looked in fear at the man holding his arm. "This one has potential," Called Ryan back to his lord Morden. "He would do well in His Lords army." "then bring him along..." He said and then after a moment he added "And kill the dam, she is no longer any use to us." "You can't do that!" the child said defiantly as he broke away from Ryan's grasp and stepped in between Steltzkin and the woman. "You do not have a say in this child," Lord Morden said through gritted teeth. "Steltskin, move aside." "Yes m'lord." Stelskin replied, then stepped to the side. "You don't seem to understand boy," replied the Lord as he dismounted and approached the child, "Just who exactly you are dealing with. Then without warning, the rider rushed at the child with a sword of eternal blackness drawn. Rillex sat bolt up right as lightning flashed, lighting a small room with sparse belongings, a straw pallet, and a small side table. Fumbling at the side table, Rillex produced a flame from a match and lit a small candle. lifting it, memories of the dream came swarming back. It was like some nagging bee in the back of his mind, wanting to burst out and embrace him. Even though every time he reached for it, it seemed to run away. Stuffing those thoughts to the back of his head, he shoved his legs down some trousers, brought a tunic up over his head, and headed to the kitchen. The smell of sulfur was present as he stepped on the cold ground of the kitchen, Father insisted that he keep his boots by the kitchen door leading to the smithy. Hardly noticing the smell, he walked over to the large cabinet with there food supplies, bringing out pre-made flour, he set it on the counter. He started whistling an odd tune as he slipped into his elk hide boots, and headed out to the chicken coop, and upon collecting a few eggs, he headed back inside. "Morn'n Rillex!." Said a Gaint cheerful man with black smeers on variouse parts of his hands and face. "Morning father." Said rillex, "Do you want some eggs with your toast?" "That would be nice," Replied the man, "Do i have a choice between poached or scrambled?""
  7. hello again, I know I ask everyone here to critique my scripts a lot, but I actually have a pretty good reason to this time. I've been working on a CMS for a bit now, and it works, just not in the way I wish it to. No matter what I try, I can't seem to keep the window from moving right, and it applies to all windows, even the battle system. Script: http://pastebin.com/hKCWR5Cs thanks in advance for looking it over, and I swear I'm getting better, considering that I'm not looking at errors this time but a working script that just isn't doing what it's supposed to.
  8. alright, I'll be on all day in the chat monday because I'll be coding, feel free to stop by and chat

  9. Wallcroft, sorry for the late post, life decided to knock and I had to take care of some family stuff, I can't translate the file simply because the scripts are not included in the game you gave me. Did you encrypt the game when you packed it? if not, could you just copy the game from My Docs/ RPGXP/VX to a zip folder and gimme that instead?
  10. Love the gems idea :) some thoughts/ suggestions (not that I can give much) You could split the motm contests into a series of 3, such as most active motm, most donating motm(putting resources/scripts into the archive) and most helpful motm(helping out people through events or digging up scripts and the like) otherwise I'm very exicted about GDU coming online. :)
  11. Made my first blog post, the blog is directed at my progress during my games creation.

  12. well, I have some free time while I try to fix some basic problems with my scripts, gimme the scripts that you want converted and Ill see what I can do.
  13. So where to start...I guess with the work I have done on this game so far would be good. This will be a good example of how I will be running this blog. The blog will contain 5 parts per post as such. Coding Art/Character Design Story Mapping Database Music Miscelanious This is so I can keep people from getting confused, and makes me wait to post until I have enough content to post. I will also post screenshots/relavent links with the tagline if people want to follow along. I will also explain any future goals/plans that I may have during the blog. So without further ado, time to let the cat outa the bag so to speak. Work Done so Far: Tales of Druidia Coding: http://pastebin.com/nSYNcywF :CMS To say the coding so far has been a nightmare would be an understatement. Thanks to the help of Kell, Lizzie, Bigace, and Forever_Zer0, I was able to get my bonding script to work correctly without incident so far. It works pretty well, however, since I've split the script up so much, I don't want to pull it all together and just put into one script section. In other news, I have two incomplete coding projects, one is being put on hold because I lack the experience to complete it. That project is the Equipment Custimization System. I've put it down for now simply because it involves the use of fairly complex arrays which I don't have quite a good grasp of yet. The other project however is the games CMS, which my plans are to have it fully animated, and depending on how organized the final code comes out I may or may not release it. The current progress so far is a follows: I've got the engine checking to see if the windows current location matches the windows destination, if it doesn't, hopefully it should move whenever it needs to update. I also have the game calculate how far away from the destination the current window is. I'm planning on creating motion blur (if I'm using the correct term... but I don't think it is) where the window starts out slow when moving, then speeds up to about 3 x or y values per frame update, then slows down when it gets to a distance from the destination. Setting the slow down ill be easy, the speed up is going to be hard. I've also tried to get some way to add commands into the script through the initialize, though this may not be the correct way to do this. If it works I'll be happy, if not I'll try another method through a bit more of a complicated array. Art/Character Design: So far MolkJones has some ideas as to what the main character will look like, I haven't seen any of the results so far as we've both been faaar to busy with school for our liking. I promise that as soon as I get design art, you. will. know. I'm still strugling as to what I want the other 2-3 characters to look/feel. This probably means that I need more work on the story end and how the races work. Story: So far I only have the worlds history plotted out, the plan after this is to set up the antagonists driving force from the prolouge. I've also got the basic hook planned out to get the character underway. I've also got basic racial abbilities set up from the prolouge. I've also decided that this game will be the first of 3, though the first story will only focus on the Druidians for now, while the other two games will focus on other races. There will also be design goals associated with these games as I'm ussing these as learing tools. Mapping/eventing: This section of the game seriously needs some love.... I only have two 'complete' maps, that happen to be the interior of a house.... this part of the game will probably be on hold until the coding and characters get done, depending on which one is done first. Database: I've added the customization items needed to create unique weapons, which will be dropped by certain monsters. There are a few songs that are in the project from when I was running my linux box, to test the sound and whatnot. So far I haven't touched this end much yet, I will be working on this more often as the WCS comes online and the Storyline take shape. Music: For those of you who have actually visited my site, I only have one song up, which is what I am currently composing as the main theme. I will compose character themes and dugeon tracks as well as more time is freed up from the code workload. MIscelanious: I may be taking up a part time job soon to try and get a simple laptop for the purposes of doing work on this over the summer when I'm in California, as I won't have access to my desktop while I'm there, if this doesn't work out then I'll be gone the whole summer, with no updates until college starts in August. Until the next update. (I will probably be lazy and not update for a while, depending on the interest in this.)
  14. I was close, I was gunna guess rendering atoms >.<
  15. I know what it is now!! In fact, there is a company that boasts that they can get fast game rendering with it :3 unless, that guess is wrong and If so I have NO idea what it is....
  16. hmm I gunna take a few guesses (yay for 3D animation xD) 1. particle effect (last picture makes this doubtful) 2. depth of field(last picture makes this possible) 3. "Faces" on models, aka how many sides a model has. 4. Fractal imaging?
  17. Tales of Druidia is droping GTBS as it's battle system for now

  18. yay! I have blender! oh sweet Blender

  19. I don't listen to much foreign music since I got an Ipod/Iphone, Itunes makes life difficult to get music for linux ppl :/ Gamble Rumble - Japan

Fair enough! I never have had problems with it (yet anyways) I just find, it's one of the few anti-virus' that is on all the time and actually yknow, detects viruses xD

without hogging up my resources anyways. My major complaint is that a full scan takes FOREVER. On windows I use comodo suite (mainly firewall, but it has a anti-virus) http://www.comodo.com/ with panda cloud. I dunno though, it's all personal preference -- but I haven't had a virus since getting my pc :)

  21. yea, though hopefully I'll be able to help out soon xD yes and no, when it comes to mapping I don't, but for code and story and graphics yes I do. Story and Code, only things I've really had a chance to do at all so far. Maybe music I think it's important, but I guess I do a little bit of both planning and go with the flow, I start out with a general Idea of what I want first, then plan out an individual section, the move on and plan again, how does it fit with the other components? What do I want the end result to look like? Will I have to rework anything to make the component fit? It seems to have worked for now.
  22. fail* Two things, 1: I have a computer that can finnally run rmxp well. 2. I left my game on my old linux hdd
