Yeah, the indies are the only hope gaming has anymore as they seem to be today's best of gaming and the most creative. Look at thatgamecompany and their PS3 games. Not really the games I would play, but much respect goes to them for making unique, bizarre games. Then we have Bastion which I heard nothing but good about it. Thanks for the link. Some interesting stuff there. My reason of going PC next gen is because of the huge support it is getting from indie developers. On console the only publishers I have major respect for are Atlus and NIS. To a smaller extect, Bethesda is pretty good. Skyrim is one of my favorite games. Every other publisher is going the way of EA and Activision.

Let's try $1,500. Don't really want to exceed 2,000 if I don't need to as I am definitly not rich. :P Assuming the nVidia 690GTX will be the most expensive component coupled with a good Intel CPU it could be difficult to squeeze that into a $1,500 budget. Give or take a couple hundred though. But whatever, again, games on PC can be cheaper and have more frequent sales on Steam than retail console games.

I want to like new games but I really just can't anymore. Everything is going into the dumpster. Where are my traditional turn-based jRPGs? Where are my platform games? What about survival horror? Games nowadays are mostly shooters, car games, sports games, and crappy motion control casual "games." Games are also getting shorter, buggier, and costlier. Many games these days are finished a year after launch, and virtually cost $100+ with all the cash grab day 1 DLC. Of course there are some exceptions but this is my experience with gaming this generation. The market nowadays is saturated it's ridiculous. Variety is getting fewer. And companies are completely abandoning their fans all for extra money. Of course I am upset.

Any PC gamers here on RMXPU? Not talking about playing RM games, but the traditional gaming on a powerful desktop rig. I am a console gamer but I rather go PC next gen. PC gaming is looking so appealing to me and the games I love the most play much better on a PC, say Skyrim and Dragon Age Origins. Also looking forward to playing The Witcher 2, Tochlight 2, Diablo III, etc. I think I will not bother with the next generation consoles early on. Wii U...maybe, but I'll have to see how Nintendo pulls that one. Their Wii could have been much better, but instead we got a saturated market of crappy shovelware "games." Their 3DS is a worthwile system, though. Anyway I have some of the parts picked out and having a little difficulty shopping for a case. Any case brands or models you would recommend? I might be interested in this one from Cooler Master: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196 I prefer red lighting over blue as red is my favorite color. As for components, ASUS for the mobo, Intel for CPU, nVidia 690GTX for graphics, Antec for the PSU and Corsair for RAM (8 or even 16GB of RAM). Also I am a fan of Western Digital for hard drives and would likely throw in a WD Solid State Drive as well to store certain intensive games for ultra-fast loading times and performance. Not only will this computer be used for gaming, but to render 3D models and virtualizing. Quite possibly creating models and textures for games. I have spoken with Kiriashi about this long ago but since the next gen is approaching it's pretty much time to get a PC. I am expected to pay well over 1,000 for this computer but I think it'll be worth it.

Gamer Rant: DLC and Video Game Release Dates
Knuckles replied to Noob Saibot's topic in The artsy side
Like this video. Keep the rants coming. I enjoy YouTube rants for the humor. AlphaOmegaSin is the closest guy on YouTube (that I know of) to AVGN. -
Exactly, this is not much of a threat to other RM sites as long as they have their own exclusive resources or games. 99% of their forums will be filled with trolling imbeciles and newcomers creating their first games, which none of us would have any interest in, using nothing but the included RTP graphics and badly utilize the tiles. But yeah, at this point it is better to broaden your audience to indie gaming in general, covering any genre besides RPGs.

Despite say PlayStation or Xbox having official forums, that doesn't stop PS/Xbox fan sites of having a successful forum community. I don't see how this would be any different.

Gamer Rant: DLC and Video Game Release Dates
Knuckles replied to Noob Saibot's topic in The artsy side
I can see it coming, the future of gaming will be doomed. Give it 5-10 years and you will see the average game costing $80+ USD, and it will only be 30 minutes in length and it will give you the option to buy DLC at ten dollars a piece adding only 10 minutes. Gaming as a hobby fell in the wrong hands this generation. As long as gamers keep taking it up the ass like they do (look at how successful DLC is) things won't get any better, ever. The future of the pay per play arcade machine will be your home console. -
I am Brenton on this one. PS3 version here, have been fighting a major glitch of lagging when playing a certain amount of time in a sitting. Basically the game would lag horribly to the point it becomes virtually unplayable until you exit the game and restart it from the XMB. To be honest I did get the platinum trophy. I think the 1.4 patch has fixed this issue but I didn't apply it yet. Despite the BS, this game is fantastic and would buy it on PC once GOTY releases.

The houses are generic and need windows, doors, decor, etc. You did not overuse foliage overlays on the map so that is a good thing, however the two trees on the east portion of the map are clashing together thus need to be separated. You could also do something about the cliff on the northwest side of the map, it looks like an eyesore being ridiculously excessive in height. The white house next to it is also way too long, unless I am missing the significance of that. Either way, detail it with add-ons, preferably shorten it to the point it won't look like it is attached to the cliff.

I got the entire gemstones collection completed. The other 4 sets have rare and scarce tier bounties to be collected. I got most of them though. If you want my help feel free to PM me your PSN/SEN. Me and Wyzrd have been discussing this and both agree the Black Market portion of this game is flimsy due to how broken it is.

Gamer Rant: DLC and Video Game Release Dates
Knuckles replied to Noob Saibot's topic in The artsy side
Thank god for Atlus. They are my favorite publisher. Everything else is going down the toilet. Look at a PSVita game, Ridge Racer releasing with a 40 dollar price tag but has only 5 cars and 3 tracks, oh but there will be DLC, truckloads of them. I am losing more and more respect for video games as everything gets worse. -
Apparently that worked for me. I did the final boss fight with little problem, so this means Crushing trophy is mine. I also finished the collectables and moving onto the Bounty trophies. Near doesn't allow me to use the trading functions of the Black Market for less than about, uhh, 45 minutes? Yeah, good luck collecting them all tonight.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it. Anyway, was playing Katamari and the game is fun, to me anyway. The touch controls are just perfect. No major problems. Like any Katamari game it is a stupid game but a very fun game. Edit: No dice. I even downloaded the latest patch recently and still no dice. Apparently many others are having the same problem. The strokes don't always register properly regardless if I went the correct direction or not, or how firm, or how long the strokes are, the game drops the ball at every attempt at this fight. Most of the strokes register but there is always a stroke that won't, hell even the first stroke wouldn't register at times and I did it perfectly... The conclusion is, I have had it. EDIT 2: I have searched the internet for comments regarding this fight, here's what the comments say on a YouTube video So apparently I am one of these people. Then we have this comment I did clean my screen, no dice. But I'll clean it again... However I seriously hope the one guy won't break his Vita one day. I would never feel tempted to break a whole system over a lousy game. Whatever dude... EDIT 3: Ok I found something useful, I wrapped my finger with a lint-free cloth (crazy I know, but it really helps, and it prevents screen from getting smudgy doing this fight) and did all the gestures. I did still fail many times but found something, you have to have perfect timing. When an arrow appears on the screen BE AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE TO COMPLETE THE STROKE, like before the entire arrow shows up. The second CURVE gesture (the one that starts from top right then it turns toward bottom left) you actually start this gesture further from the top right of the screen than where the arrow begins, this part here is very, very tricky but that is just how it is unfortunately. After this gesture the fight gets less predictable and need to pay close attention so it gets pretty challenging. I eventually passed this QTE fight, thankfully, after many, many attempts. What a relief. I hope I can do the final boss fight better. I like challenges but still am having a hard time deciding if it's a broken game or not but wish me luck getting the platinum.

Ok I am at the first QTE battle with Dante, and it is surprisingly frustrating. Much of the strokes won't register correctly. What am I doing right? What am I doing wrong? When I get to the curved strokes I almost always fail them, and I fail many, many times before it. Because this is on Crushing I only get one shot. If it is just poor game design then I am not buying another Bend game again. Plus on my Crushing play through much of this game's flaws have been sticking out. Another part is I failed at an unnumbered amount of tries attempting to defend Sully when he is crippled up (back in the ruins) but because of his poor AI programming I died many times...er...I mean Sully died many times. I eventually got it though. He sure was the weakest link of the team and wouldn't even take cover. I like hard games, but this is no hard game, it is a broken game. There is a difference. I am starting to not like this game. It's a shame too, it had a lot of potential and the story is well written. But this is just criminal. Between Chapter 11, defending NPCs with poor AI, and the QTE fights that are broken, touchscreen-related problems like these better only be on this game and not on other major game releases or else I will seriously regret my Vita purchase and return to my Nintendo 3DS. Not going to sell my Vita as a collector but it would be only used for games of the iOS caliber and jRPGs.

Figures. I am at chapter 21 so far on Crushing. Chapter 11, the level where you had to run with Case out of the gunfire is pretty tough. Took me an unnumbered amount of tries but I eventually got it. However I was not sure if I was doing it right. Definitely a fun game though, and the game doesn't make you re-do all the puzzles you have previously completed, thus they won't slow you down.

Just finished my first and hard playthrough. It's a really fun game, if a bit repetitive at the last chapters (the cavern is so ugly, long and boring). The ending is cool though. The jungle setting is what made this game so great. But one thing, although I completed it on Hard I don't see a Crushing mode when selecting New Game. I got the difficulty trophies as they stack, but I see no Crushing as an option. Also I'll PM you my PSN/SEN.

Today I purchased 3 new Vita games at Best Buy: Uncharted, Hot Shots Golf, and Touch my Katamari. I am playing my first playthrough on Uncharted in hard mode right now. The game is the underdog of the franchise, which I really appreciate. It doesn't feel overly cinematic but just fun, and the jungle setting is abundant. The brutal combat in the game is really cool with the finger gestures. Definitely one of my favorite games. The other games are still in their shrinkwrap until I platinum this game.

Believe me you likely won't enjoy it, but it is worth a try since part of the system's price goes toward the game. How does Uncharted: Golden Abyss compare to the PS3 games? Is it more like the first game with a lot of jungle setting? I really enjoy the first game.

Got mine too. The only game I own thus far is the included Little Deviants. It is an okay game, some challenges are fun, some are repetitive. I wish there's more variety like actual platform levels. Oh well, it's pretty much a tech demo. Loving the near app and already met a few people around my area that happen to own a Vita. Not home right now but I'll post some photos of the system eventually. And apparently you can get a FREE* 8GB Memory Card and a downloadable game with your First Edition system. *Requires a paid subscription to the AT&T Data Pass Service. Additional fees may apply.

It wouldn't take off without physical media. Our Internet infrastructure in the US, one of the most important markets in video games, is one of the worst in the Western world and ISPs are pushing data caps on what we used to have unlimited data. I used to have unlimited data now it's limited. Having the ability to download GBs of data within minutes is also in the minority of US households. As a video game collector having physical media is good news. I have a passion for having bookshelves full of those colorful boxes vs. just strolling through the menus to find a game. Less convenient, yes, but games mean more than just computer data to me.

Yes, Uncharted: Golden Abyss. You can buy games in the form of a physical copy like every other system. You can also purchase and download the games from the PS Store if you want. The physical copies come in blue cases and use a card-based media unlike the PSP.

Really, oh well. A 4GB is better than no memory card I suppose, plus owning a 320GB PS3 Slim I can just trade files between my memory card and PS3. Not too disappointed it's still worth it. Better than the $250 I spent on a 3DS which ended up with a price drop in the middle of the first year. @Polraudio I heard Sony fixed some of those issues with a FW update. Systems were freezing and touch screens weren't responsive. Plus I'll get warranty coverage with this thing as it's something I do when buying CE's exceeding $100. I've had things break after the typical 1-year warranty expires due to poor design before and that is no fun.

So I preordered my unit of the PS Vita. The specific model I preordered is the First Edition Bundle which includes: PS Vita 3G/WiFi System Power Charger Six AR Cards Voucher to download AR Play Mini Games 4GB PS Vita Proprietary Memory Card (mistake fixed) Little Deviants Limited Edition PS Vita Case Because this is the first edition bundle I'll be able to get my hands on it the 15th of this month (next Wednesday) as opposed to the launch date of the 22nd. Can't wait to experience this beast of a handheld with a decent lineup of games. I also own a launch 3DS and although the 3DS is awesome I only purchased 4 3DS games, but with the Vita I can already count 8 games to buy alongside the included Little Deviants. LittleBIGPlanet ModNation Racers Gravity Rush Dynasty Warriors Wipeout Ninja Gaiden Lumines Electronic Symphony Disgaea 3 There never once was a system with 8 games within the launch lineup I am interested in buying. Sony hit the nail on the head with a system launch, and hope they'll do the same with the PS4.

Yes, you have stated a good point. Greed or not it hasn't stopped me from buying the games I want to play because I am not finding it a major annoyance. However I've only purchased one game in my lifetime that included an online pass: Uncharted 3 which I heavily regret for being a quickly stale shallow run of the mill third person shooter with nothing new or inspiring that hasn't already been done by thousands of other games.
