I like the modern age, at least with the WRPG genre of games. Skyrim is a fantastic game, so is Fallout, Dragon Age Origins, The Witcher, and Mass Effect.

Yes, but you relying on second hand games for your entertainment needs, none of your money went to the people behind those games. This is why publishers are pushing online passes, to actually make money off from used games. I don't like this at all but business is business. I don't complain too much about online passes because, in the end, if you buy the game for a low price on Amazon and pay $10 for online play you would still get the on the cheap. I've been told GameStop packs in online passes in their used games, but that is open for confirmation, I never shop there. If true, what do you have to complain about? And you can play your games without an online pass, just can't play on their servers. The online play is a service in which this is the first generation of games to have this as a norm. Publishers don't see it fair having used game buyers play on their servers for free as servers cost money to maintain, especially more when nearly every new game has to have online play to appeal this generation of gamers. What I am upset about is EA closing servers down within a short time, even with their online pass schemes.
-
Ya, it would be a bad tactic to curb the used games market when you could just make a side business of selling 10 dollar online passes per used game. You'd be shutting off a potential revenue stream.
-
It will upset a lot of gamers for not being able to share their games on other friends' consoles, as well as selling their games when they're done with it. This also hurts the collectors, the people that actually keep their games, for not being able to buy any used out-of-print game laying around somewhere as it'll be unplayable. I don't think this system would have much of a chance surviving. If it does, I am not going to buy one of these until I can find a used one on Amazon with a large collection of games bundled with it. None of my cash will go to MS for this.

The company doesn't lose money, they just don't gain money from piracy either.
-
What can you do about it!? Life isn't fair. Innocent women and children in third world countries starve and get gunned down to the streets. Mega corporations are still making a fortune off from their products regardless of piracy. Let it go already. Piracy is a battle you'll never win. Minecraft's developer understands this, and even to some point, encourages piracy of his game if you can't afford it, because he'll accept anything if his game is going to gain popularity. People complaining about piracy blow things out of proportion way too much.

I tried the multiplayer on MW3 at a friend's. I didn't have any fun. Not because of the game but because of homophobic grown men screaming on the mic spewing out racist terms and an overwhelming load of profanity. Sure I could mute them but I don't think I would want to even play a game with these idiot greasy basement loser sociopaths even if I get paid to do so. No wonder I don't play Internet multiplayer. If the future of games will have no worthwhile single player levels at least by then I'll have the right mind to find a new hobby. Ugh.

Not to be a dick but I am confident most Foxconn employees would consider your worst struggles in the workforce a dream compared to their best ever moments where they live, or that you just are/were spoiled. You just compared yourself to them. Perhaps you think you're living, or you have once lived, in a less fortunate situation yourself, you should move to PRC and find work and see if you can hold an hour of working there, let alone actually living at the factory. Once you've done that come back here to share your experience. I do agree though, companies have very low ethnics and are hard on their employees. At the Foxconn factories in PRC the personnel would administer physical beatings on their employees. The worst case scenario in America is, you get fired. Find a new job. Big fucking deal. I've been jobless at one point, been living below poverty levels even, but this is America I am talking about. No food? Go to food banks. Homeless? We have more housing resources in this country than most other parts of the globe, especially PRC if I am not mistaken. No job? Plenty of gross fast food chains in America would gladly hire you to flip freshly ground rat intestine burgers to serve 99 billion at a minimal wage of a fortune compared to the money Foxconn employees get paid. Foxconn employees would love being poor here in America.

Foxconn not only manufactures consoles for games, but pretty much a large percentage of consumer electronics available on shelf, including Apple iDevices, laptop computers from most major OEMs, smartphones, HDTVs, and computer components in a large number of PCs made today like Seagate Hard Drives. If you want to boycott any product manufactured by Foxconn it'll be difficult to do, without becoming Amish. Someone committed suicide over an incident with an iPad prototype unit (or iPhone if I am mistaken), so it's not just games consoles. @rgangsta Sony also outsources their products to the same company they manufacture Nintendo and MS products. PS3s, PS2s, PSPs, and supposedly the PSV are also being manufactured by Foxconn. Many companies don't do the manufacturing anymore, so they rely on outsourcing to third parties in off-shore locations like China or Mexico. This is done to reduce labor costs, and unfortunately craftsmanship and build quality could've been better if the companies were to do the manufacturing themselves, but that is open for debate.

My verdict on UC3: I am somewhat disappointed in Uncharted 3. It's a great game but it has plenty of drawbacks from UC2 to make it anything memorable. Puzzles that a child could solve (the hardest was the globe puzzle...or the body pieces), plot holes a plenty, and basically, I beat the game in much less than 9 hours when I skip the cut-scenes and the Crushing mode really just doesn't feel...crushing...at all, as a matter of fact I couldn't believe I was playing on Crushing until I went into the menus and check what difficulty setting I was playing. The kill rooms in the game were ridiculously less amusing and seemed to be slapped on to the game for the sake of artificially lengthening the game's story rather than to bring anything meaningful or satisfying. I could list maybe a total of one or two isolated kill rooms throughout the game that were remotely challenging or entertaining. In comparison to UC2, the final boss on UC3 was an absolute joke, a fight that wasn't significantly more challenging than the opening bar fight followed by a short wall-climbing segment and a bullet shot to end the game. It felt underwhelming at best, cheap at worst. UC2 had a more believable story, and a boss fight that was actually somewhat more satisfying when completed on Crushing. Don't get me wrong it's a fantastic game, and ND is the best studio in Sony's stable of game developers, but I was expecting the same charm I could mine from UC2. Where is it? The only improvement from UC2 I can name is the visuals. How I view the Uncharted series: UC<UC3<UC2 Regarding MW3 I did get it for Christmas, but it's on Xbox...boo. Oh well. The only PS3 CoD I own is BlackOps. MW3 is an ok game but I like BlackOps' story better. I was playing the story on maximum difficulty with auto aim disabled. Now off to play some Skyrim.
-
Hey I am a collector too. It's quite a hobby, and it's cool you mentioned the Dark Cloud series. Those games are boss.
-
Someone might gift me the game this Christmas, and hopefully for PS3 as I never once subscribed to XBL, though I own a 360 since launch. I guess I am mostly a gamer that never plays online MP unless it's CoD. I played Uncharted 3's MP only to collect the two online trophies as required per UC3's Platinum and haven't played since. Concerning whether CoD being the "same" game or not, I still find CoD fun, the MP portion anyway. And each iteration is different.

It's VGA, what do you expect? Not like they were anything worthwhile to begin with.

Sounds like strategy guides are turning to shit. When was the last time I've purchased a strategy guide? Back in around 2003-2004 until I first found online alternatives. I liked strategy guides for their graphical approach over a simple computer text file on GameFAQs, but then again a lot of money is saved which is worth it in the end.
-
Yes, but your statement declares each one of the franchises are starting to die. I disagree with much respect. In this entire gaming generation we have 7 CoD games including MW3. Activision is very notorious for exploiting their franchises. What is interesting about CoD is the sales. The series is thriving game after game and Activision has landed in a gold mine of cash.

You don't have any idea what I was talking about. Final Fantasy has remakes/releases on the PSP/DS and GBA. The PSP has remakes of the first games in the franchise. Then there is also FFIV. The DS has FFIII, FFIV. The GBA has... you know, never mind, I don't want to continue about it. @Lizzie S I still have hope for Sonic. Sonic Colors for the Wii is by far my favorite 3d-era Sonic game since Adventure 2. Generations is looking to be really promising as well and as a PC gamer this would be a treat for me.
-
I don't know. How many times SEGA rehashed Sonic? How many times Capcom rehashed Resident Evil? How many times Square-Enix rehashed Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest? The list goes on. Nintendo is far from the only entity guilty of remakes. Almost the entire band of major publishers in the industry rehash and repackage their catalog of classic games. Nintendo is just more visible for remakes to many gamers in this respect.

The controller is said to be very comfortable by the people in the industry that happened to try it. The screen wouldn't be useless at all either. It's a way for Nintendo to implement dual-screen technology into their new console. With the screen you can change items, weapons, and shields in Zelda on the fly without having going to the pause menu.

GTA V? Dead Space 3? One can hope. @Kiriashi, I don't know the precise details of the GPU yet, but it will likely outperform the Reality Synthesizer (modded Nvidia 7800) that supplies the graphics for the PS3.
-
The PS3's GPU is outdated (it's a modified version of the Nvidia 7800) to the ATI chipset Nintendo supposedly will implement for the Wii U. The Wii U will outperform the current generation of consoles including PS3. I've read unnumbered fanboy comments around the web touting this as a kiddy gimmick console, just as usual. Nintendo is aiming further toward the core gamer with this system than the Wii as they know there is a market and Take 2's Rockstar is on board. Imagine if Mario is an unlockable character in GTA...
-
Lol, yeah, the RRoD has plagued every friend and family member of mine that owns a 360. Some units even went far enough to trigger fires that burned down houses. Hopefully Nintendo will price it right. Typically their products are the cheapest of the bunch, and if Nintendo has learned from the mistake with the $250 3DS pricing (the NGP, now officially PlayStation Vita will also be $250 for the Wifi model), Nintendo should price it reasonably if they intend to draw in a large demand. Nintendo really needs to drop the price by the time PSV rolls out. Not to mention the system only costs over $100 to manufacture (excluding the shipping, R&D, and some other factors) otherwise they'll be in a battle.

Try (if you haven't) Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Metroid Prime 3, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Sin & Punishment, Mad World. There are more but these are some of the games on top of my head at the moment. SNES has graphics superior to the competitor Megadrive and overall boasts more powerful tech. I am not up for a debate either. I just want to clarify to you I am not attacking the Wii U in any way, shape, or form. As a matter of fact Nintendo is practically the only company I believe in as their console hardware is built to satisfying quality and their 1st party titles are generally top tier. If I could get away with just buying Nintendo's consoles (and a PC) I would, but Sony and, to a smaller extent, MS have games that also appeal to me thus that won't happen any time soon. Sure. You didn't have to ask; fire it up.

Give it time, once PS4 and MS's next console release many of these publishers will likely jump off the boat and this console will recreate the Wii situation all over again. I don't at all want to see this happening but it is my prediction. The reality is, cross platform titles on the PS4 and MS's next console will suffer in quality if they're ever planning on releasing them also on the Wii U. The Wii U, although may be more technically advanced than the PS3, it will be behind Sony and MS's next generation consoles. Don't expect many of these major publishers to develop many exclusives either, because they notoriously focus on cross platform titles primarily. Hell maybe I am wrong, and I really hope so, but remember history repeats itself and here are my doubts. The next generation PS and Xbox will be announced sooner than you think. Xbox360 is approaching its 6th anniversary, while PS3 and Wii 5th anniversary this Nomember. Generations don't last long and if you look at the history of console cycles you would observe similar lifespans before their successors get rolled out. PS3's 10-year lifecycle does not at all hinder Sony's development and release of the PS4. As a matter of fact, the PS3 will go the way of the PS2, an inevitable target marketing shift to the soccer moms and Sony will focus on the PS4 for first party. It's all a reality. I do observe the potential, but I take a glance at reality and what my expectations will be and again, history repeats itself. I am not in any way bashing this console as I am interested in a launch purchase. I believe in Nintendo, and yes it has a lot of potential. The Wii also had a lot of potential, but the bulk of the gaming industry has been focusing on the Xbox360 and PS3 rather than the Wii this generation, obviously because of issues with cross platform titles, and major publishers notoriously don't (primarily) develop exclusives, otherwise the Wii wouldn't get the reputation it currently has.
-
The Wii U is a member of the 8th generation like the Wii is a 7th generation console. The Wii U will likely exceed the processing power of the PS3 and 360, but will not have a chance to remotely compete with the PS4 and the Nextbox (whatever MS will name it as) in terms of the technical under-the-hood processor power, so the PS3 and Xbox360 need not to fear as they're from another generation. Your question is, why buy this product? For the games Nintendo has to offer of course. The Wii U is a buy for Zelda and Mario fans but assuming you're not a fan of Nintendo's franchises this product probably isn't for you.

Advertising to the general public on a website is useful to: -Gain hits, obviously -Receive comments, constructive criticism, and general opinions -Recruit staff members Telling your buddies may not achieve some of these key factors in building a website worth visiting. Often, the only things your friends could do is to overlook any flaws and join your forum because you're their friend (though it isn't always the case, just from personal experience from my time in the website industry). That is fine, but it does nothing constructive in other important key factors. EDIT to add an important part in parentheses
