  1. In my opinion VX suck, I would sprite in them no problem and I intend to later on. I prefer the looks of XP sprites though, might be more complicated but I think they look better. If I clear up some time I might be interested in helping but, as things stand I'm swamped so much now I'm thinking about postponing my spoof project just so I have time to work on my main, I already had to hand off finishing the story for it to my girl just so I'd have a bit more time. If you still need someone in a month or so I should be back in practice so I'd be able to help (though for this sort of thing I work for free)

I just searched the whole forum, just nothing came up for me. I try to make sure to always search before posting. I looked through the gallery too but got lost in there.
  3. I have to tell you over all I liked the whole thing, the battle system like that actually works nice, as for the difficulty I got through no problem, there were times when it got more difficult in the 3 major fights, mostly when you hit an hp check mark and they switched stuff up on you, but those revival potion+ and potion+ work wonders to really get you through when either 2 members are dead or when Obbligato is down. As for Obbligato, that was not the best voice acing I ever heard, compared to the rest it just seemed lazy, just my opinion. I do think things were oddly placed though, I ended up running around for a good 10 minutes trying to figure out where to go after beating Pizzicato's crazy stalker. I also think that things started out rough there, though if I was to change anything it would be to make the enemies do slightly slightly less damage and remember damage is supposed to weaken when there's split but the healing items countered that. Would have been nice to have had a few smaller battles scattered about to get some experience to make it easier to prepare. Over all I enjoyed it, was a entertaining yet challenging experience not really to hard but it was hitting the edge between difficult and impossible (right where I like it).

Oh shoot, and I even did a search for this and came up empty handed. Thanks you have no idea how much that helped. I guess this crisis is resolved.
  5. Do you mean like, a choice you make near the beginning would have a impact on an event later in the game? If that's it then you'll need a switch (not a self switch) that will either stay off or turn on, for example, with the chest idea during the open chest choice you tell the switch to turn on (then the self switch stops the event from repeating over and over again), then during the don't open choice you turn that same switch off (technically stay off)(then the self switch stops the event from repeating) the self switch is so that you don't have to make multiple switches and more pages than necessary. Then lets say after you leave the house that chest was in if you opened it then a man would walk up to you and scold you for stealing from his home and then take the item from the chest back (you would have the event for the man to activate when the switch for the chest is turned on). You could do the same thing with a variable if you have more than 2 choices, choice 1 would have to set the variable = 1 choice 2 = 2 choice 3 = 3 choice 4 = 4. If I need I could do a full example of how this would have to work. Just have to remember that a switch is essentially a variable with only two values 0 or 1 (on or off) (open circuit or closed circuit) it's limited to only 2 options. ~TheCrym 'Perhaps I should do a full tutorial on events'
  6. I absolutely hate resource gathering, I'd rather make the resources myself if I can just for that feeling of accomplishment. I couldn't really tell what my favorite was so I just said game testing just seeing everything that I've done come together to create a jumbled mess of "oh crap I messed up something". Though in all honesty I would have preferred to have been able to select more than one option.

Well, I've decided to start making the sprites for my main project soon, till I feel motivated enough to work on my spoof, or scripting some more. I came to realize I no longer have my sprite templates, was wondering if anyone had or knew where I could find the templates to go with the RTP style. I did have a 8-way template but, that's not necessary but would be appreciated if it's found. I didn't think that this really belonged in the resource requests since I'm not really requesting resources but more of a tool or guide to make creating them easier. ~TheCrym ~hungry as always

    scripts

This is all to true, reach for the stars and if you reach them, keep reaching. I've seen a few arcade games like pong and duck hunter made in RGSS which was great. I've never seen a pure card game made in RGSS but I have seen creative card games done as a minigame. Best of luck and hope that this encourages you to take a page from my book and learn to script. ~TheCrym Pokemon is a RPG, it has hit or miss dice rolls and leveling as well as a storyline. The Legend of Zeda is not a RPG, it lacks the hit or miss dice rolls and leveling, just because it has a storyline doesn't make it a RPG. It's an Action/Adventure puzzle.
  9. Hm, really mine is more for me than anyone else. The progress card keeps me motivated to continue working, as far as anything I say in my signature I have put anything from favorite quotes to satires to gibberish. I think that your signature should not only be to show off your skills or to affect other people by also to affect yourself and keep you motivated to go after the things that matter. As far as your signature laansolo it has affected me in a small way getting me thinking about how true it really is. Not really a huge change but, it's the small things in life that really matter right? ~TheCrym
  10. Mind if I take a look at the script you got there for this, I'll give it a try figuring this out. The way it sounds though it seems like it could be a bad reference to the battle background or possibly no reference at all. Then again I am new to this so can't take my word on it.

    scripts

Scripts are pretty easy to use, as long as there's no compatibility issue (which isn't often in my experience) then you just have to insert and past a script right above the main, some scripts will require a bit of work to use for example XAS. Other simpler ones such as a CMS and some if not all sideview battle systems don't require any work. You can do more than a ton of stuff with them going as far as to include mini games (I had a coin golf game in an old project but that was a script written by a friend of mine who kinda just disappeared on me). I'm learning to script now and it's not difficult to learn what everything is, I'm just having trouble thinking logically enough to actually put it to practice to do what I need. If you plan to use scripts I would say the best thing is to learn at least the bare minimal of editing scripts as well so it will be easier to use, I recommend Leon's scripting class here since it's easy to understand and entertaining enough to keep you interested, though it's not something that you absolutely need if you plan to use them it just makes the use and understanding of them easier.
  12. Hey, welcome. Give me about a month and I should have a demo for a spoof I'm doing that will need testing, other than that I pretty much prefer working alone to keep different styles from clashing. That's not to say I'll never ask for help, depends if I can keep up with my schedule (so far spoof: yes, main: no). Speaking of ants, I remember my old ant infested apartment, good times. Soda, gee where I come from we just call it Pop (except orange soda (I call it master)). Makes you feel any better I don't even remember waking up today, well I roughly know what time I woke up today, it was Saturday. Hope to see more of you around the forums.

    Voice Actors Needed

Well it may be a few days before I can get in contact with my friend, and my mic isn't working at all again. Really I think it's to easy to over use voices well that's what the ones in my head are telling me. I know not to use my real voice but with my speech impediment it's kinda hard to change it.

    Voice Actors Needed

If I had more time and my mic worked reliably then I would consider it, though I really don't like my voice that much I have a slight speech impediment so that I guess would take me out of the running. I may be able to send a friend that wants to do voice acting this way though but, I believe he's on a trip till January so I'm not sure I can get in contact with him. I'll try to talk to him anyways though.
  15. Putting it in the end of the battle would mean that you would be able to open it over and over again to get the item from opening it, putting it in the end of the branch means that you can only get the item once or only fight it once. The way I did it is set up that you can get a better item by fighting it.
  16. The example you gave could be done with a event extremely easy. I don't think you really need a script for that at all. All you need to do is have an event with 2 pages and the graphic of the chest you want. On page one you can do something like: Then on page two you just need to check the box next to Self Switch and make sure it's set to A, also make sure you set it with the graphic of the chest if you want the chest to still be there after you open it. It's pretty simple, if that's not exactly what your talking about then I hope you find everything.
  17. Trying to think of a mini game for my main project for building a Rube Goldberg machine, if your not sure what a Rube Goldberg machine is, its a highly complex domino effect of several different simplified "mechanical" parts to give off a very simple effect such as pealing a banana, Or turning on the lights. Remember The Incredible Machine games from years ago dang now that was fun.

  18. Decided to play Breath of Fire IV during what little free time I have.

  19. Writers block really sucks, I can't seem to work out the story for my spoof game, I got lost working on it for some reason but suddenly decided I needed to work from the beginning again. Keeping the basic idea but working on it at a different "angle". Hope looking at it in a new perspective helps but, I have my main game on my mind and really till I start making my tilesets and get my scripting down there's not much I can do.

  20. Can you post the ?script? (or whatever it is) and more information on what it's supposed to do please. Kinda hard to help without more to go on than just what you said, I have no idea what ATS is supposed to be. Maybe a link to where you got it maybe.
  21. Doritos Crash Course, kinda reminds me of the show Ninja Warrior where they had to run through 2 obstacle courses and then climb to the top of the tower within a given time. I haven't seen that in years but it was pretty hilarious to watch as some of them would fail on the first obstacle, a lot of them where there just to cause laughs. The second one, Harms Way, doesn't look like much really. At first glance it looks like it's a solid game but after really thinking about things it's little more than a small fish trying to fit in with a group of hungry sharks. This sort is not really my kind of game but really it could be worse. I'm somewhat curious what the others were before they were "voted off".
  22. I'm a bit bored, guess I'll go sleep. I'll check you all later.

  23. As far as I can tell it looks like a script to show the name of an area when you enter a map. Then again I am new to scripting so what do I know. You should put that in a code block and a spoiler with [spoiler'][code'] "the code" [/code'][/spoiler'] just without the single quotes. It will make the post smaller so it's quicker to load.
  24. Mapping interiors isn't to hard just start off laying your floor then outline the area with the dark auto that matches the wall you'll use, while also laying out the different rooms inside the area, remember to try to keep your maps somewhat small but big enough to fit everything you need in, smaller maps means less space to have to fill. After you have your rooms just use the wall tiles and then you should be done with the low layer, then on mid layer and high layer you can decorate. Mostly just play around with the tile set till you get the hang of using it.
  25. Hi there Blitz, welcome to the community. If you need help with anything feel free to ask as far as I can tell most of us are willing to help where we can. I'm not sure if I'd call you the youngest RM user since I've met some kids that are about 8 who have been using RMXP for a while now. I hope you enjoy your stay with us.
