  1. Well I agree he shouldn't have been born. I'm not sure it was over the xbox completely.. sounds like they're trying to make a point that consoles drive people insane but this could have been more about robbery. Would he have the done the same thing if something less minor was stolen? There's just no place like this for people. Well, at least not in 1st world countries.
  2. An increase in spam? I should find the original idea of the special forum.. the main idea is the usergroup. It would attract spam, but only within the forum which 11 members would be able to see..
  3. I was browsing some sites today that have a clubs.. so I came up with the idea of a new usergroup for members who reach 1,000 posts. With this new usergroup come a whole bunch of increased permissions. Perhaps a new forum as Arkbennett once suggested (like years ago), so only those members will have access to the forum and do as the like with it. This also may offer an incentive to reach the 1k mark. What do you guys think? 11 members have reached 1K so far, however only 4 of them are members. In terms of a specialized forum, all 1K members will have access.

    Spam.

Yeah Leon I have to agree with you. I think you disagree about the topic. But my point is that under the rules you can add any of the quotes from Kage Kazumi's above post. The topic has a point of discussion and therefore there to be ruined by pointless posts. Though I don't know much about RvB, this may be a bad example. Unless anyone has anything further to add, I think we can wrap this topic up. However the original point still stands and we're still cracking down on spam.

Only 20 minutes... wouldn't it be cheaper to live at home? I'd live on campus if I didn't cost an arm and leg. Does every student live on campus there?

    Spam.

Who says that? :dragonshock: I've been saying the spam forum is misused for a long time. I even made this topic: Rules and How to use the Spam forum, but it was unsuccessful. Yes the staff have missed this topics in the spam forum. However, I think the spam forum is evolving into a forum that's in between spam and the cafe. With the occasional really spammy topic. They arn't exactly the most serious of topics, but they arn't exactly spam either. The latest topic for example: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/topic/5483-red-vs-blue-episode-10/ This topic does not fall under the purpose/definition of the spam forum. However it's a perfect example of the in between, and I think that's what the forums evolved into. If that's what it takes for members to post their topics, then I say leave things as they are and keep the topics in there.
  7. Yeah that's right Kiriashi, so it raises the question why not post these in the tutorials forums in the first place. That's what I originally wanted to see before creating a specialized forum. For example, if a member can consistently produce tutorials then it makes sense to give them a forum if they want it. However if a member hasn't posted a tutorial before and then wants to start their own class, then obviously there's a risk there.
  8. I think my internet just got capped... bloody internet providers in this country... im moving to oz

Oh, when they say "unlimited" they have in small print "under a fair usage policy" so you have a limit if it impedes on other people's service.

Yeah that's true..the story here though is we had to change plans from unlimited, thought we had till the end of the month but apparently not. So I exhausted the limit real quick.. we're changing providers now lol

  9. Well usually it's appropriate to test if the member is actually capable of teaching what they want to. Broken Messiah asked how he can prove it. A simple question really. Just write a tutorial, explain some aspects of spriting. Well Broken Messiah, you now have your own forum. The pressure is on to prove me wrong :) This may help as a guide to creating the structure of a spriting class: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/topic/3913-complete-rpg-maker-xp-spriting-guide/
  10. There are actually quite a few members who PM me about this. Most aren't even active so that's an easy decision. To be honest, I'm not keen on classes. On this forum, I can't see it working. Mapping is slightly easier, it's less time consuming than spriting. My concern is that you will never get any students. I'm nearly certain no one will dedicate... However, you don't necessarily need participants to have a class do you? Why not start off with lessons which get more advanced and members can work through them. This way the content is more timeless and not used up by participants who may or may not join/commit.

I mean use the report system. That way all global mods including admins can read the reports. As for the spam forum, interesting discussion, but it was never in threat of being removed. It is open for discussion whether topics should be moved to the Cafe or the rules should be more strict due to the heavy misuse of it (as in, not spam). However I think everyone has a great disregard for where any topics are posted due to the main method of accessing topics. When you use the recent posts hook, you don't check the breadcrumbs do you? This is something that often happens with the mods too I think.
  12. Personally reading never got me anywhere in terms of learning the logic behind things. I sort of used tutorials as a guide rather then learning from them. I did attempt a few RGSS Scripts which you can find in the archives, but I never really got into it. How I learned to code is I thought of the thing that I wanted to create, and then I went out and tried to it. You just have to dive straight in and play around, maybe come back and post on the forums about a certain point, google a couple things. That's how I'd go about it. Here's a topic I found interesting relating to PHP, but I think it equally applies to other programming languages. Maybe give it a skim? http://www.webdevrefinery.com/forums/topic/3832-how-did-you-guys-learn-php/
  13. Lol. I'm not sure how accurate that is though. I often see large numbers of guests on the websites online users. That thing only counts the users on the website, not the forum. Similarly the forum only counts forum users.
  14. Downloading it now. I want to play but can't promise I'll be free. My timezone is Pacific/Auckland. So if you set your timezone settings on your RMXPU account, look at the time this post was posted. It's 3pm where I am as I post this.
  15. Thanks everyone :) though I just think its too small to really test if I can actually properly sprite... Oh yeah, I had thought about that. I thought it wouldn't suit the chibi style, and also you don't see the mouth in-game when playing crash games. If only the day was longer... I'd try everything. I probably have except composing... I had to learn coding for the site. :) Although I think probably only the project cards was really the only useful thing I coded. I'll try doing some more frames tomorrow. I have some assignments creeping up though so if not tomorrow then maybe never :)
  16. So what hosting did you end choosing? If you don't mind me asking.
  17. Today is a pretty sad day. Sigh, I attempted spriting. It's a VX styled Crash Bandicoot. It's not much but I'm not going to finish and I'll leave my spriting career at this. :) For those who don't know Crash Bandicoot (shame on you) here's a ref:

  19. Goodluck Leon, I can feel a success coming along. Will this game have any relation to the recent movie?
  20. Moved to Resource Showcase & Critique. The sprite looks really good :) I recently had a go at spriting a few charactersets so I'm more aware of the skill required to make them.
  21. Fixed the beta Script Submission page - I dont care if you're just testing, just use it..... :)

  22. Yes, I suppose I was rushing. I wouldn't have given the permission to guests if I had seen the option originally, so yes it would have been pointless if I intended it. Some of them know its a necro-post.
  23. Lets just see how the bumping goes with the new permission settings... The only real issue I have is members replying to the topics. It's pretty annoying, I've deleted the ones I've seen. But then again I suppose it can only be expected. At least we know the bump system is effective, it just has to be used right. As for the status updates, there really arn't any rules since they're relatively new. I'm not going to say what they can and can't say, but fair enough some things are annoying.
