  1. That's odd, when I login as you I dont see any My head hurts :huh2:
  2. I'll see what I can do. It's been something like 9 months since it was last there, but now that's broken and causing an error deep in IPB's prototype javascript (meaning I'm lost to fix it), it may be better to just recreate one real quick. I'm backed up with assignments for a while though, so I won't be able to spend so much time until after. Also the header image is just there coz it looks better than the others. Although of course I'm not going to put an XP image up there. I was messing around one night and made that (I've got a few other concepts too) and that was one of the first things I made for this update. There was this logo made by Chief. He didn't quite get the name right, although I am considering changing the name back. I took a punt with changing GDU to RMU, and it turns out I was wrong. The only remaining reason I don't go back to the name GDU is because it's probably a bad look to change names once again in such a short space of time
  3. It's been working fine for me. That's odd... you guys using Chrome? It shouldn't be an issue unless a JS error blocks the ajax call, but works fine for me in both. I changed the code a bit to clear them a different way. Does it work now?
  4. This could be very useful :) I've moved the topic to game dev discussion since it's supposed to be used for game dev.
  5. Yep, they are. When I get a few of those bugs sorted out I am planning to send out an email to all our members. Earlier than expected. We're facing a big challenge in gaining traction in Ace users with XP slowly dropping away. We're doing far better than we did on VX, although our most prosperous times were post-VX anyway. My plan to compete is simply with a superior website. I've taught myself quite a lot just for this goal :P One major component is missing though. So far I have focused only on content sections. What we are missing is feedback sections. Again, the forums don't quite cut it. One thing I am considering is something like this, a web deb/design feedback community http://forrst.com/posts Creating a completely custom section for purpose of game dev feedback could be potentially very useful. If we make the games section stricter, or at least divide games that are more established, then we can use this feedback section for smaller demo's, stories, maps, etc. The replies are strictly feedback only. Chuck in a few points per feedback given, and a separate feedback given count.
  6. I think internet users are going to get younger and younger. I support the use of proper English but, as Saltome said, a lot of people's first language isn't English and they can't be expected to have perfect sentences. Obviously no one should really get upset at them for not using proper English. Then how to distinguish such a person on the internet who is just young? It's hard to know if someone is fully capable of speaking proper English, so the standards can't always be so high.
  7. I've made some updates to the chat: http://www.gdunlimited.net/chat Nothing major but I've made it better visually and added the RMU BBCode editor. It still has the same old bugs, but it should work slightly better.
  8. Yet another reason everyone should join this forum. The doors are open ;) The trolls are everywhere. The biggest RM forums were known for being assholes. I can find examples of other members coming here to fume about it. The issue is with moderation. If I see trolls, I just delete the post like it never existed. Problem solved. The trolls don't get fed and die. I never got overly angry at internet people. You know what the people are probably like in real life. Not a fan of the ones who lie or assume a fake identity though, and talk to me like I don't doubt their deceit.
  9. There's also http://www.sakari-infinity.net/ This site has been around for ages, used to be pretty popular back in the day with RPG Maker users. I think coz .NET/.ORG used to link there. But apparently you can only use them for non-commercial, which is fine for most of us.
  10. I have a hunch that it doesn't work when the post adds itself in via ajax (you know, when you use the fast reply and it automatically adds itself) but after that, eg you refresh the page, then it works.
  11. I'm not fussed on reputation, but I think a like system is useful. I duno why anyone would click like on a useless script. Obviously a lot of members, like you apparently, do not use the system. Why I think the system is important is that authors that will come to this site need incentives and recognition. If they post something and it never gets recognized then they're less likely to post more. Therefore my concern with a like system and used this system sitting side-by-side may cause issues because we want to maximize the sort of encouragement this system aims for. As an author, if you get 100 likes but 0 "used this"'s, might not be so good. On the otherhand, it's another form of feedback for the author. I think it's probably a matter of balancing it in terms of where the website is at in terms of content submissions. I don't count but I like and rep frequently. I'm not too concerned on proper useage, you probably figured that out from what I said above. It's up to people how they use it. I'm much more concerned right now about giving authors incentives than indicating quality content. What about a 5 or 10 star rating system AND a "used this" counter? Added to the poll :)
  12. You coulda just posted the link to the free one: http://resources.rpgmakerweb.com/music-launch/clkn/https/s3.amazonaws.com/prodcartassets/29305/kairi-blodeuyns-rpg-maker-xp-remixes.zip I personally don't support this at all, I also got the email but I'm not going to help those idiots earn money, even though technically I probably do given the links on the engines pages, but that's not for them. It's wrong to make money off these types of game makers, I guess its fine for commerical game makers but then you see them advertising Ace as "even a child can use it". We need artists, composers etc. to upload their works for free to ensure that these guy aren't making money off of people who are making games out of their own passion.
  13. I've got the spoilers working, and I added a new animation too. I guess the upgrade overwrote my custom spoilers.
  14. I'm not sure about calling the like system "likes". First of all, for this site, there is a clear distinction between the current "likes" and the reputation. Reputation points are given for your posts/comments - someone likes what you say or agrees with you, no big deal, you get increased rep. Likes on the other hand are given on your content - your tutorials, scripts, resource uploads or games. These are obviously more valuable, and this is what I'm referring to in this topic. I have some options up there in the poll. Please vote for your favorite, or post any new suggestions below :) In the future game-dev profiles I am planning to have the two numbers side by side as a measure of the members activity to other members. This is a long way off, but what I want to have is points from likes/reputations that the member can thus spend on promoting his/her game in the games section, like internal advertising for game developers who have contributed.
  15. Yeah it's broken right now. I added links to the forum index too. I will look at getting that fixed later on when I have time.
  16. Goodluck Ace! I remember back in the old days I'd make these topics too. My exams are just around the corner as well. Study hard, and see you when you're finished :)
  17. Which BBCode doesn't work Bob? Weird about those spoilers... I'll look into that now. I've fixed that tutorials page (the link was wrong), fixed the RMVX page (good spotting shin, I thought no one views it), I fixed the notifications and I have removed the global notifications open from the user menu (I'm going to make that into a page and have some cool customization features in future). Excellent spotting, keep them coming :)
  18. Sort of. Definitely could come around soon given I have a holiday soon and I rather get stuff coded up rather than work on bugs/fixes, which is what the plan is for the foreseeable future. Fix up bugs and do small things to get the site functioning right, and also moving the RMXP stuff into the RMXP sections. Which makes me sadface coz there's lots! lol yeah yeah I'll get to it :P Been kinda busy with other parts of the site.
  19. Hi guys, This evening I took a big risk and decided my time is up; I gotta upload. Here is the very incomplete, potentially buggy (we'll see) RMU2.0. I have not had the opportunity to test the forums much at all, you guys are gona have to do that for me. On my test server it was working unusually smoothly post-upgrade (where many files are edited to make our system work). There's a TON of new stuff. Mostly not on the forums. I'll try and list them from memory -New engines pages layout: http://www.gdunlimited.net/engines/rpg-maker-vx-ace -New homepage layout: http://www.gdunlimited.net/ -Designed for 1200px screens and less (rather than 980px and less) -Some mobile stuff done, lots of work to go -New menu layout (sticky menu, user drop down, notifications, engine tabs) -New Scripts index layout + category layout: http://www.gdunlimited.net/scripts -New Tutorials index layout: http://www.gdunlimited.net/tutorials -New section: Resources: http://www.gdunlimited.net/resources -Updated About us page: http://www.gdunlimited.net/about-us -New Footer (scroll down) -notifications on the nav It's a real shame I ran outta time. There's a fair bit here, prob the biggest update I've ever made. But there's equally a lot to go... If I had all the time in the world, I'd say this would struggle to get 30% of what I want to do. But I gotta study now. I'm also getting a wisdom tooth out in about 11 hours and a 50% final on monday, so I'm gona busy for a while :( Major bug reports please! What I already know -quick edit to full edit goes to wrong url, but works -preview post still broken -lots of odd looking forum sections, probably -shoot, i forgot the links to the status updates, etc. I'll do that asap -the notifications count doesn't clear -eeeeeh so many
  20. I don't have RPG Maker VX, but is the whole point of the topic to show off the battle theme? If so, the topic belongs in Resource Showcase & Critique (which I moved it to). It sounds pretty good, it does suit a VX game.
  21. Sure, that's an easy one. [progress]50[/progress] I'm going to make a page with a specific list of BBCodes that will be consistent with our design and allow users to really make their topics look great if they take the time to see what they can do. The site does/will have a large collection of UI elements.
  22. I hope getting RMU2 live within 2 days isn't too optimistic

    Why are you here?

I like your enthusiasm but if you're going to describe someone's post with a word like "bullshit" you should at least chuck in a few reasons why. :P I'm guessing your last sentence is joke? It's not even a real website yet.

    Why are you here?

That's really unfortunate, because I immediately backed you up on that topic but apparently that wasn't enough to stop this from happening. Which is unfortunate. In my opinion, Pol made a mistake and you just happen to make a post where the topic starter was more sensitive than usual (no offense topic-start, I still see you lurking sometimes. I didn't think the lack of people helping each other on the support forums so bad, I do see people replying. I agree that these problems do exist, it's quite obvious. I think that generally you're going to get that on a forum which suffers from a lack of active people. There is always going to be a percentage who post and contribute out of the members who are there. So I believe that merely increasing the numbers will go a long way to making these issues better. I don't think that any member has an obligation to post and traditionally it's not just the long-term members who help, its everyone, newbies included. That's coming next  I'm really glad with the way things are progressing, slowly but surely. The main issue with this is bandwidth, in the short term I'm gona have to go with external hosting unless I can get my hands on some 3rd party API (which would be really cool). But, the main application could be and running soon :)
