  1. I'm actually considering changing the design entirely. Like completely different. I just can't satisfy myself
  2. Yeah I know. My point was merely the title, making it sound like it's a project organized by the site, rather than a member on the site. Anyone can get all the help they want from the community for their projects. I'm quite against community projects given their past success here. http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/forum/86-archive/ I much prefer a stable existing project becoming an existing project. Making polls is one way to do it, but I'm not sure there's much value in it. You'll end up with the most popular systems (not so unique) that may be incoherent because they have been randomly chosen from votes. To me a community project is built by community members. But that's just my opinion, I'm just the web master these days :ehh: This logo is awesome. Great job RG A shame he left.. Btw shin, this isn't me bringing you down if that's how you interpret it. It's advice. A leader who is organized and dedicated will attract followers.
  3. Yeah, who? It is the "GDU Community" project, right? And also, this is in the wrong forum. But the site ought not to endorse such a project at this stage. There's no team and no storyline, and it's a bad look for us to call it the community project until more progress has made. Well actually, all it really needs is to be stable.
  4. http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=user_activity&mid=16989 We have a highly customized forum so you won't find the same things.
  5. I spend more time making websites that studying towards my career (this is turning into confessions D: )
  6. Hmm... Ok, I will remake the system so it's built into the markup. Right now I'm using javascript to attach it and center the site to the screen. That's why you get it on the side first of all... I think that ought to fix the lag. What do you guys mean by impressive? If its a reference to my coding ability, the tutorials system is the most advanced :P The notifications are useful, right? I need to write a version for the top menu. I had to post this last night coz I'm real busy this week :/
  7. This is a work in progress feature. It's a side menu designed for users who have a reasonably large screen resolution (optimal for resolutions above 1230 and above, which is the majority of users). It will supports a compact user menu, change avatar feature, and most noteably the inline notifications that we used to have. I have stopped and merely displaying the most recent notifications. I could do something like marking the newest notifications, mark as read on mouse-over, or something like that. To try the side menu, click the cog (now in its new location in the top menu to the right) and select the side menu from the options. Suggestions, thoughts, bugs? I rushed this coz I got stuff to do. There's a javascript conflict with the tooltip but hopefully it won't be obvious.
  8. I'm working on a cool new feature that takes advantage of the fact that most users have screen resolutions above 980px

  9. I've been wearing contact lenses since the 30th of July 2008. At 22, I've been an admin at this site for 30.67% of my life
  10. Welcome to RMU  VX Ace is the easier engine, but that's not to say XP is hard. Harder doesn't mean hard. Hopefully you can gauge a comparison here http://www.gdunlimited.net/engines/rpg-maker-vx-ace http://www.gdunlimited.net/engines/rpg-maker-xp
  11. Oh damn... seems like several reputable sites fell for this. I never read the RPG Camp part >.>
  12. Moved this to VXA requests (for all requests). I got rid of the VX one... I assumed it would nearly never be used, I need advice on these sorts of things :/
  13. How often is it happening? There can be cross-browser issues and members double-clicking the post button. If the connection lags, you probably click it again, that will probably end in a double post. I don't know IPB hasn't solved the issue, it's extremely common for people to click buttons multiple times and the standard is to disable each subsequent submit.
  14. I have broken both my legs, my ankles and the growth plates in my ankles in accidents relating to playing rugby.

Wow that's a lot of words T.T I'm far too illiterate for that lol but goodluck
  16. Welcome back :D As weird as this may sound, I had a feeling you'd be dropping by soon after reviewing the top posters list. I'm glad you like the new stuff, there's some more really cool stuff coming ;)
  17. Welcome to RMU  When you say weird.. I just think tentacles. I duno why.
  18. Back from a fishing trip. Now I'm torn between progressing with the cleanup or making awesome nu features which I've been thinking about..

Haha exactly. I decided on the new features first coz when uni gets busy again I do little bits at a time so I don't have to come back and revisit code.

  19. You mean why should we choose you :P Here's the rules in the description of this forum User submitted games means either the early in development forum or the established games forum. The reason for the rule is so you're in a better position to recruit members. You'll have a much better chance of getting people to dedicate their time your project if they know you're serious and have a tangible start and direction.
  20. I saw this posted on enterbrain's famitsu.com blog. It's as the title suggests, so far she was raised $23,000 to make her game. Really impressive. And she's using RPG Maker VX Ace. Could try RMXP ;) This quote was precisely what we thought when they brought out VX D: Anyways, good on her. I wonder if she'd like to use Lizzie's Quest Menu script. Here's the link if you want more info/support her: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/susanwilson/9-year-old-building-an-rpg-to-prove-her-brothers-w
  21. Ah yes, I have been saving this for years. We've just hit 20,000 members. Less than half are worth emailing but it will still bring in a lot of traffic to the site. The more emails we send the less likely a person is to click into it, the more likely that email will go to the spam folder, etc. So I'm saving it. They key is timing. I have a lot of tidying up to do (the count is now at 637 topics to sort out, which btw is there for you guys to see the progress). We have to be certain that for a bulk email we can get as many people as possible to stay - and there's lots I need to do before then. I could however bulk email members with over x number of posts.
  22. No problem. Keep offering good suggestions are together we'll make this place better for everyone
  23. It was probably one of your doctor who quotes. I think we needed to watch it to get it?
  24. Good job guys, new ones added plus one or two removed that made no sense to me. 44 quotes so far  I moved them too. In retrospect it was a silly place to put it in the first place.
  25. 644.... well sh*t

Yeah I couldn't figure out why it disappears... but it's ok. Unfortunately, it's very complicated. I have to copy reformate all the content, the images, the downloads etc. Then I have to reset the authors, the pageviews, date, downloads, etc and finally setup a 301 redirect. So it's a massive task. The only thing the mods can do is move topics, eg support topics in the scripts forum, or move topics with dead links to the "archive" forum. Either I'll come across the...
