I duno, because I was thinking it would be better to control that globally. For example, I could always enable that whenever I want, if I wanted to bump registrations or whatever. I think that's better than having authors dictate that. I think most authors probably want their scripts used. And it would also be inconsistent to have some scripts available as a guest and others blocked.

Lol I know... that's why I thought you tweaked the settings which I believe you can do. I haven't been looking up mature woman... Lol. This is more me :excited:

Is there anything else aside from a facebook page?
-
Well that's an easy one. The best thing you can do is create useful, interesting and unique content. That's it. You really don't need to go hard out on the SEO unless you're competing with another site for the same thing. If it's Franklin Card Games, I'd work on the design a little bit. The grey text over the white opaque background is hard to read. Your Franklin games design is a lot better. Make sure users don't have to look to hard to find things. Did you do something to your adsense in terms of what ads to come up? My usual google ads don't look like this. If you did, I'm not sure your yu gi oh visitors want older women... just saying. ;)

Sorry about the guy bumping all the topics in announcement and news by voting in old topics. Bit of a douche.
-
Lol yeah they're supposed to be light blue/greyish. Without contacts they're pretty useless tbh.
-
Oh you mean on the homepage? I've been meaning to change that little blurb there... >.

The rules state you have to post a link. But no. I'll post another hint shortly, it may be unfair to newer members. Actually I'll post the new hint now The topic is pinned

Lol not really, but I'm not a fan of taking selfies. I found some on fb: playin' some bowling 20 year old me (now 22.5) Me at a pub, on a booze bus trip, and the only sober person there and it was fucking horrible. Mainly because of the company, particularly my current gf who I started dating a week after this pic was taken. I'm also really skinny here relative to now. This is me on the actual bus. You can see I'm trying to smile, but my eyes aren't smiling eyes so you know I'm not enjoying myself. ...and me up a tree

Hey Bob, you said that you mastered this very function in another topic http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/topic/7191-trouble-with-an-icy-floor-mechanic/?hl=ice&do=findComment&comment=62300 Hehe. Also there's this made by Arkbennett: http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/files/file/238-arkbennetts-ice-sliding-deluxe/ @diagostimo: if you wanted to be really awesome, you could sumit your scripts into the archive, and then you could just link to that http://www.gdunlimited.net/scripts/create I see you've wrote several scripts in these types of topics, good work

Thanks, I was just messing around one night so I plan to make it a lot better. The point is to display new content and make it more interesting than just links. With the scripts/tuts sections I can now take images and introductions to make those things you see on the homepage at the moment. It's possible to squeeze a lot of content in there. You see how there are tabs down the side? I was thinking about having tabs across the top as well to group content, for example "All, VXA, XP" etc.
-
Dammit >.> I have to code that function in... since it was just you and I adding scripts I didn't bother yet. I removed that image. I fixed this up. It's because all the images are saved in the same directory, so every single image needs to have a different name. And most do because they're always prefixed with your member ID. However obviously I made the oversight of a member uploading a file with the same name more than once. But yeah, fixed now. Correct. Same reason for the .rb thing. More people can extract the zip files. I also believe that you can extract a zip on windows but not a rar, without downloading a program. Great, thanks. I noticed and I went through to add the topic data in, and I realized the scripts were missing and I stopped at 3 scripts I think. So since I already setup the redirects, I added the pastebins myself, so you can go and edit them or whatever but hopefully I saved you a bit of time anyway :P I gotta go through and fix the pageviews, created date and posts. I'm gona be pretty busy for the next 3 weeks, I'll do what I can. It looks like those buttons on the VX category were effective, here's the pageviews of the scripts section

In terms of websites, its sites like rpgmakervxace.net, rpgmakervx.net, rmrk, youtube, rpgmakerweb. Broadly, the sources are like this (The above being referral traffic), and this is since Feb 06 2013, so about a month

Hi, I'm Marked, the owner  People around here call me "The Boss". Immediately* As I put it in the other topic, die now or die slower. I chose die slower. I'd love for someone to challenge me on my reasoning and tell me I'm wrong. I would really love for someone to tell me all the right moves that need to made... Of course I want to expand from RPG Maker. Enterbrain suck balls. But the communities that use their programs are fun and encourage to build games, so that's what we're gona do. The site is built for expansion, when it's ready. Enjoy your stay, stick around coz we're going places

Wow, I wouldn't even attempt that. For our clients we use Magento. Still learning how to extend it but haven't had much opportunities. There's a big community too. That is the plan. Not an easy task however. I'll do VX and then XP, which I expect to take me many months. I have to convert all of the content for both the tutorials and the scripts. With things like my comment integration, it can take a while preserving the data. The editors I used make it super easy to create scripts, but moving scripts requires things like altering dates, views, downloads etc. in the database. I'm also planning other things based around this like making it easier to submit content and making sure everyone knows how to do that. As is I doubt anyone is going to even bother submitting their work even though its really simple. We've always had a real lack of people who want to make and share things. So it's about promoting that and developing a culture of sharing. There are tons of people who come through here that easily can make things, tutorials are simple as, but they just don't. The homepage will also be the content portal for the site. If you're wanting to see what's new on RMU then that's where you go. I started a wee bit, but I plan to stretch this out a lot :D I'm uber busy and always will be from now on.

... We're quite unique. It may be hard to see. I only wrote custom IPB member/template integration, scripts section, tutorials section, the chat room, the quick upload and my manager section and the member map. Just sayin' :P

Oh I had no idea you made websites. In my 2 web jobs I spend most of the time working on the font-end, design stuff, but what I really like to do is make stuff, like the scripts section. It's hard to distinguish if you don't much about it. I'm talking about making things run, the engine-room of a website. For example, if you look at the "Categories" in the sidemenu, that output comes from this function public static function getCategories(){ $engines = ScriptsModel::$_engines; $category_list = array(); foreach ($engines as $engine_id => $engine_name) { $categories = ScriptsModel::countCategoryScripts($engine_id); $count = 0; $total_sum = 0; $category_list[$engine_name][0]['name'] = 'All ' . $engine_name . ' Scripts'; $category_list[$engine_name][0]['count'] = 0; foreach ($categories as $category) { $count++; $category_list[$engine_name][$count]['name'] = ScriptsModel::$_categories[$category['category']]; $category_list[$engine_name][$count]['count'] = $category['count']; $total_sum = $total_sum + $category['count']; } $category_list[$engine_name][0]['count'] = $total_sum; } return $category_list; } And that's fun. Though to be honest not too many people use my creations :P Project cards was popular though. One of the main reasons this site is in the green is because isaacsol hosted the site for free and then in December when I moved onto my work's servers, this site doesn't have those bills. I gotta pay 12.5USD each year which I pay out of the ad revenue for the site. But you know, that's just like an hour's work for me. A hour's work per year for the site... I spend about that on petrol and lunch for uni each day. I'm also really efficient at making websites for small businesses. I use a CMS, a modern and frequently updated template framework, etc. I get setup real quick, the main time wasting comes from stupid clients who don't know what they want and don't want they asked for.

I didn't notice.. can you post the link? It's actually been public the entire time. All of the redirects have always been accessible so that no visitors get errors. Wow, that's a lot of topics! Great job :) I'll get onto clearing that list.

Yeah, its completely unrelated to what it is, it's what it's not. Can't even upload .txt files. Alright, I finished the Ace scripts. Here's what the Ace forum category now looks like: This is that GDU concept I've talked about for a long time of dividing content into 2 groups: temporary content and content that remains useful long term. So, all your support topics, general discussions, requests (topics that mainly help the invidivudal) are made in topics, and they will fall away and be forgotten; they've served their purpose and hopefully the member got what they were looking for. Then you have useful content that is useful long term for everyone: scripts, tuts, resources. These can no longer be posted in topics, you have to submit them into the sections where the idea is they're easily found by all with superior categorizing, consistent layouts and better search features. I have started displaying new content on the homepage. There will be many more links to new content so it's all integrated. When new content is posted we about it, just like new posts. And of course I've already sorted out the integration of posts on the content.

Ha That's a good idea :> I'll get this Ace section cleaned up then I can make that whole category into what the others will hopefully look like. I got a unique idea of what they'll look like in the forum-view. I've sorted out the category counts and removed categories without scripts in the sidebar :D I'm still having trouble getting these .rb uploads to work >.> It's 3rd party code and I have yet to find out why it won't upload. It's kinda tricky to debug the php in ajax calls.

That yoda quote is already in there :P added the other two.

Is this post sort of like a protest to the change? Most members would just leave quietly. You already know my reasons so there's not much for me to say, but I feel like I've got a few things to say. You know what I think about enterbrain and its software, right? What you say makes a lot of sense. And when we were RMXPU, I was thinking forward to GDU I was thinking of attracting members like you or the sort of stuff you want to get into with your game making. You could be correct I quit too early, who knows what could have happened. In my opinion, probably almost certainly nothing. Maybe I copped out. Here's a graph It's kinda bordering on 45% decrease in pageviews here. Practically, if you're in my shoes, this is what a website does. It gets viewed. You know my rationale for switching back, which turns out was wrong in some respects. Here's the situation. I started the site as a 15 year old when I had a lot of time. 7 years later I'm almost about to enter into a career (as a lawyer, oddly) and days like tonight I waste sitting here instead of study affects my grades. I'm not a game maker and since switching to GDU all of the staff left the site. Aside from a few awesome members who still care, I'm completely alone and RPG Maker is all I know. At the point of the switch back the site was inactive. It was almost dead already. So I was left with options, quit entirely or refocus on RPG Maker, as we did when traffic was at its peak. It was the rational choice and the only choice for survival of the site at the time. You may as well have left because the site is dying if not already dead. GDU would have never of worked without anyone here. So we'll see with RMU. I'll never put the effort into the site I put into GDU, but things are in place and things are happening now. There are unique features here and everything is expandable. Hopefully you see because I'm working away at things almost each day. I wanted GDU to work and that idea is not necessarily dead, it'll die with the site whenever that happens, but for now its about getting things sorted and bringing back a member base and finding new staff members. Oh and active members here jumping boat to other RM sites didn't help our cause either. If members are keen to do something and make things happen on the site, I'm always there to make those things happen. For example, there would never be a scripts section in bigace didn't request it. If you guys had told me you wanted GDU back in the RMU v GDU topic, I would have switched back. My vision has changed to that of the web developer: it's the functionality for me. As for where the site goes and what happens to it, that's up to the community. There's one purpose and that's helping people making games. However we achieve, whatever functionality or unique systems that are necessary, I can make them. I'm glad you recognize the effort I put into the site :P I now have 2 jobs, a web designer and a web developer (on top of my studies), all skills I learnt from trying to make this site better. Specifically from trying to make GDU, which took a full 2 years (I literally started the code in Dec 2010), and only took 4.5 months to die. It was a massive project, but everyone left. RMU -> GDU is however a mere design and nav change. This still uses the GDU system I wrote. It's sad to see you go. I like when some members leave, but not the decent ones. You should at least bookmark the chat and pop in sometimes. I spent 45min writing this, coz I care
