Bob is... the penguin version of Batman...? P: First time seeing pic of you, wow... You look like an adult--well you are. Just more than I thought. XD Bob's looking fiiiine, damn. I have a huge weakness for cute and small things. TTuTT

Hey, Omar, how do you think a livestream feature will work on GDU? It sounds to me like it'll take a lot of time to create, and also I'm not sure if it'll be efficient for the page? I use livestream to stream, and the software for that seems it would be really complicated to make. Twitch.tv itself is a site dedicated entirely to streaming. Seeing as GDU isn't, I feel as if it'd be difficult to incooperate that. But I don't know much about streaming in general... not sure how it would work XP

I just watched X-Men: First Class and the only thing I can think about hours after the movie is how gorgeous Magneto is. i need jesus.

Nope, he's a generic Frenchman named "Pierre". He's also in a one-sided relationship with baguette. By my horrifically rolled-"R"s I thought it was obvious he's French XD Buddy, that's because you've never had me on GDU before. ;)

We're on topic, I swear. EDIT: wait, seriously? You're not kidding? Holy crap, yes this IS on topic, I'm adding it to the main post because I need to know about this.

Dear Marked, It's a shame to know that senpai hasn't noticed me until now. :'( In any case, I'm addressing this letter to you to let you know that Omar and I planned that private message out in detail together before trolling you. In fact, it was I who chose that picture to send, as well as the video. Lettuce and cabbage are very poorly perceived, you know. I believe their distinction should be made clear in our modern society. What would social justice be if we didn't spread the word about this? I'm also very confused, as the link led to a post with a long-ass title that said "Searched "drag queen with beard" and my day just improved dramatically". I understand you are a busy man, Mark, but damn that's a huge hint to miss. He who trolleth will be the first to be trolled. (Please quote me on this.) However, I'm very happy that you believe that picture fit the profile. I admire any person who can wear such a large amount of glitter and not cause cardiac arrest for anyone with the privelege to glimpse their fabulousness. As you can tell from my video, I'm extremely fabulous-oriented. Yours truly, ~#1 Smart Alec of GDU <3

That's got to be the worst developer ever, theoretical or not. P: So bad, I'll give my respects to this imaginary dev. About music, I agree totally. I wouldn't use RTP music as it is too much... Maybe a few tracks. But I'd like it even more if the dev modifies it, even add a little reverb or something to show you at least opened the song in Audacity. Again, it all boils down to effort for me. I used to hate RTP music, but then I downloaded some free tracks off of GDU. I didn't realise until I compared it with the RTP track names that they were modified, enhanced versions. But they were still pretty dope. :/

O.o even after Omar's convincing messages with the exclusive pics? My, my, Mark. Will Salty be amazed by the amount of fabulousness contained in this video? P:

Yup, me and my twin sister. ... Lol no just me.

Oh yeah, rules would actually be great! Official rules, that is, not just the suggested ones in this thread. I didn't understand what the quotes were for and should be when I first joined (call me slow, but I didn't get it until this thread), so best to avoid confusion then have to fix mistakes caused later ;)

Activate Troll Song in D minor, please. ;) I have no regrets about this video.
-
Omar's just trying to teach us the skills of patience and reading between the lines, we should appreciate his wisdom. :) Btw we are allowed to post quotes from fangames, right? There's no rule on wherr the quote is from as long as it follows the rules?
-
[bows] you watched the worst video on the internet.
-
Lol I highly doubt he'd spent time making a video about a video of a teenager who just wanted to pretend she was funny ;) I'm no one important, rest assured. There are probably 5000 vids like this on the internet.

So I'm not sure where this post goes... I thought the Artsy side at first, because I think this video can be a kind of "art". But anyway, I started this video to show a friend a process of how I make a certain drink, and it's shown in this video: I'm very proud of the hard work that I put into illustrating this process with detail, easy for new makers to understand. So please enjoy and let me know what you think! EDIT: Also, I condone any speaking of glitter, or general acts of being fabulous, in this thread. It's up the alley of this video. Pierre the Frenchman, remember?

#StopBobTheGaySpinningPenguinNowTheQuotesMod I submitted a quote now, let's see if I did it right XP or else our new Quotes Mod will erase it from GDU forever.

walls of text is what cool kids do nowaday :/ half arsed defense of my less than desired replies lol I do get what you're saying. Piracy does promote. My friends and I have little circles of piracy discussion at my school where groups of kids just... hang out and talk about what they pirated, what to pirate next, why piracy is or ain't cool. It's very fun and happy. Definitely how high school kids should invest their time. But no, it actually makes for very interesting and stimulating conversation. Some of the things we talk about is how a certain company gets their visual novels recorded and uploaded to a certain site I used to be registered on. Of course, I can't name them :P But one person buys the stories, records them, and uploads them, and there's a bunch of volunteers doing that. The company likes to go and take these videos down and ban their accounts. But a good point that's brought up is that this is promoting the company to other people who usually don't buy these visual novels. When I first got into the visual novel fandom, I was completely against spending money on these stories. Fast forward one month, $50 poorer. siiiigh. Promotion indeed. oh u. I'll be looking out for that topic, anywho ;D

:D But now that I've had my share of being a smart alec for the day, I'll go find it on GDU's search. Time to get engrossed in another game ugh why do you ppl do this to me. In order to not receive a half-hearted threat of banishment from one of the mods... piracy is cool. :> :dizzy:

Members of GDU, please stop being interesting people. I'm having trouble with my fingers impulsively producing walls of text here.

Don't ask me if things like these should be acceptable or prohibited :) I have moral standards, but I tend to disregard them for what's more convenient for me. I know, I'm a wonderful person. I pass off piracy on certain items like Sony Vegas and Photoshop as "saving money". Seeing as I'm a terrible person, I don't expect myself to pay for things that will never/rarely benefit me and are more for personal fun than doing anything that will be showcased publicly. And as a high-school student soon to attend college, would you bust $200-$500 on a video editing program? If I had the money to spend on hobbies, sure I would. But I'd much rather be throwing my money at college tuition so that I might have that sort of easily-spent money someday. But I will definitely say that getting something illegally and attempting to sell it to others is low, and I wouldn't stoop there. But come on, if we all paid in full for our hobbies, we'd be very expensive people. Also, from the pespective of large companies that can sell millions of copies of programs, games, I don't think they could care less. In my numerous voyages of plundering and pillaging, I do keep that kind of thing in mind. I would more likely pay for a product of a small, less popular company than a large, profitable one. Though I'm known to twist logic to fit justify my crimes ;) Though my main reason is I don't have the means to pay... I'm underage, have no access to paying for things online, etc. I could ask my parents--they'd say no. What solution, then, does a curious teenage have but to pirate? If there were a store that carries Steam/online reedemable gift cards near my home, I'd go and get them myself. I'd really love to pay for most of the products I get. But seeing as I am a shut-in with no such stores around (and not that much money on my hands in the first place), I pirate most of the time. That's understandable, Zahraa. The case makes piracy a lot more interesting case for those who are adamantly against it. One of your examples reminds me of a story I heard from a friend who visited his home in China... he once bought a Photoshop crack for a dollar, no doubt from another pirate, and then found out that it didn't work at all. (Meanwhile my cracked Photoshop works fine and dandy. Lesson to the kids, don't pirate indirectly? Pirate yourselves? Hmm, maybe I'd better rethink that.) Well, seeing if it's nice in your house and then buying it is more like having a trial, no? There are many commercial that promote that if you don't like their services/appliances, they'll give you back your money. A nice pirate gets the luxury of trying out the product before paying the money. I'd much rather do that than buy a table that looks extremely ugly in my home. Hmm, keep us updated about this, please, Bob? I'm super interested in this newer awesomeness you've got owo Mark brings up a lot of interesting points. The internet has changed society and the mindsets of many people as to what is acceptable and not acceptable. Piracy feels a lot nicer than actual physical stealing--but is it any less wrong? What we do and see on the net has interesting effects on our thinking... for better or for worse? Your legal example made me laugh out loud. My parents think I'm crazy now, so thanks, Mark. But some final thoughts of mine... I just wanna say I pirated RMXP two years ago. And just two months ago, I bought it because I liked it so much and was using it extensively. Admittedly for way less than the $60 it would have cost at the time, I think. But see? I'm a good pirate who buys products when I can. I pay for mobile apps because it's more accessible to me--I can easily get Google Pay cards and redeem them. And even though I ranted so much about Outlast and how much I wanted to support them right from the very start, the truth is that I pirated it at the beginning. Sure they had a demo. But I pirated the full game and liked it so much that I paid for an official copy. Most of the things that lead me to paying is pirating. Now y'all got me in a pirating mood. I'm going to settle down with ice cream, a pirated copy of Pirates of the Carribean, and watch Jack and Will debate about whether pirates can be good men and more than flat, 2D characters. :P

After this I'll come off as a hypocrite because I use a lot of RTP in my game lmao. But I put some effort into it, so I'll say what I think makes RTP acceptable and what doesn't. Custom graphics are necessary for a commericial game--not necessary in a personal project, but highly desired. This comes from my slight fear of all-RTP games after trying out a bunch of thrown-together 5 min. games from various RPG Maker websites. Yes, I am aware some of these people are beginners, but some of them could definitely check the grammar/spelling and try to make the game work, maybe run it through a playtest before posting it. (I sound like an ass but this is my opinion and I'm rolling with it.) But all-RTP graphics, especially if poorly mapped, makes me think "this person isn't trying". Yes, this can be compensated with story and mapping, and I would respect and probably play a noncommercial project that produces an RTP game with the other features included. I understand that not everyone can sprite or hire a spriter, but the other features should be easily accessible with some practice. But for commercial, you don't see To the Moon using the limited RTP. Plus, use of custom sprites and graphics get me thinking "this is a world of its own. This is not someone who jumps into RPG Maker and tries to crank a dozen 'games' out a day. This is someone who cares to craft their world and make it unique and individual." Even if you just combine a few tilesets and change the tint on some, that spells effort to me. Even a small edit shows me that the maker tried. To me it's more effort/wisely-invested passion than resources that makes something "acceptable". Not by game standards (a lot of effort could still produce a not-so-good game), but by my own standards. I would be happy to play games that don't have custom graphics, 100% gorgeous mapping, and an amazing-unique-omfg so great, 10/10 story. Although this may be partially because I never leave my house and I don't have a life. :P

Screen Recording? How does one?
Kitsuki replied to Ardaceus's topic in Computers, Internet and Tech Talk
Hear, hear. Piracy is pretty awesome... but I'll pay for things created by smaller studios. It's just the big companies that I pirate from, since they're all making enough money anyway. Whoa. Whoa, hold up there buddy. I said Camtasia Studio is cool. WMM is okay for video editing that doesn't go beyond cutting and adding music, but I was saying Camtasia is pretty good if you want to edit videos. Pirate it to both record and also edit, totally worth it. It's just that it didn't work for me when I tried to add facecam back when I was trying to make LPs. Nowaday I don't use facecam, but I still stick to Sony Vegas + Bandicam, for quality and big projects. Bandicam is clear and good quality. Easy to use. *raises sign promoting Bandicam in giant bold letters* But Ardi, it's basically just what you're looking for and what you prefer. :P Camtasia's good for some, wasn't good for me. Likewise, Bandicam is good for me, not for others. Try some out, don't diss any of them before you try them. ;)
