Combining Mr. Mo's Abs 4.5's Enemy system with Xas 3.91
Saltome replied to Jesse66126's topic in Engine Discussion
Well, it wouldn't be right if someone else does it instead of them anyway. -
^^" Mark, a leader shouldn't show lack of confidence like that. And time can't beat you, if anything this site risks overextending its resources, If you try to develop too many ideas at once they will starve each other out.

Combining Mr. Mo's Abs 4.5's Enemy system with Xas 3.91
Saltome replied to Jesse66126's topic in Engine Discussion
You can try asking the two creators to unite their systems. ^^ -
Well it doesn't make a very interesting discussion if everybody agree with one of the sides. If objects in the Kyper belt are considered planets, so should the objects in the asteroid belt. You know, the asteroids. Forget the definition, planets are objects that individually orbit around a star. Belts are a cluster of objects that are part of the solar system, and Pluto is just one such object, directly its part of the Kyper belt, and only indirectly of the solar system. To compare, planets are like people who live alone, and Pluto is like a person that lives with their family. Both are equally human, but living alone is not the same as living with your family, and that's why Pluto should be in a different category from the conventional planets.

Sigh, Mark, Shin and Sai, would you children behave? And Shin, i agree with Sai, you shouldn't quit on what you like doing just cause you aren't an internet celebrity, just give it some time. Besides, who said that having a polished website has anything to do with making games?

Are you saying the rest of what I said wasn't true? :P You sure love that site don't you :) Ah, so it's gonna be a zombie apocalypse. :D
-
For the most part yes, I'll elaborate trough a pm.

To be honest I'm happy with rpg maker, what more do you want from a 2d rpg engine? It even gives you the option to use your own code. Which is perfect for me since It saves me the effort of having to write every tiny little system function from scratch.

No specific criteria, anything in a game that can make you want to help in making it. General gameplay, story setting, graphical style, specific features, quests or characters.

Hey guys, I've been thinking of getting a team together, but my personal designs are rather complicated for a starting studio. So I want to know what kind of game you would be interested in working on, and if It gets enough skilled people together, we will make it happen. :D This is not a recruitment topic, just a query.

I'm developing a new origin story for my game.
Saltome replied to Jesse66126's topic in General Game Development
Well the story sounds a bit... Uh, girlish, but it's kind of original. And I'm curious, how exactly will the game actually play? As far as the dress color, red and blue go better with the purple hair, but blue contrasts better with her dark skin tone. -
Ok, no. There are enough 3d game engines out there. If they did that I'd quit, not that I'm using their new programs right now.
-
Well if you guys want to make some "competition" for Enterbrain, I'm wholeheartedly up for that.

Railfan. You don't need to be so dramatic. The resistance is there because your contest isn't clearly designed and your post isn't properly laid out. In fact people aren't resisting, they are just expressing their concerns and trying to help you set it up. It's great that you are trying again despite failing before, but if you failed once already why should I believe that you can make it this time around? And if you just copied the previous post it means that you are lazy, maybe too lazy to see this contest trough. And it means you probably didn't learn anything from last time. You are right about making a game though, it's a good idea to become part of the community before asking them to invest their time in return of "a prize". That's like going to a new town and asking people to work for you for free, promising that you will give them something in the end, It's just too shady. Instead of acting like a victim, take the chance that your topic generated so much attention, work with the admins. Knowing that the admins are behind the contest people will feel more secured about participating. Also instead of being discouraged from the criticism you are getting, you should listen to what people are saying and change the contest to the needs of the participants. Like the rewards, the email and the encryption. I am more inclined to take part in this if its a team effort, but like I said it would be unfair if some people have to do all the work themselves while others get to work in a team. And you "don't have influence" because you are making this contest for the community, not for your own enjoyment. As for the format itself, i like ShinGami's idea, one team for each of the rpg maker programs, I'd love to be able to rub it in those rpg maker vx and ace fans faces that rpg maker xp is the best one. It will also be a team building experience and it will give a chance to relatively new members to show their skill and meet with the other people on the forum that use the same program. The reward doesn't need to be anything expensive, people were just concerned because you said that there will be one but never specified what it would be. Saibot. There is no backlash, and nobody is making an ass out of anybody. Railfan is just overreacting. There are no haters around, just people who are trying to realize his idea. As far as the game goes, this is supposed to be a challenge, he does not expect you to make a game of the rate of Skyrim, StarCraft 2 or Borderlands, but it's supposed to be a chellange. I have made games in less than a month before, so such goal is not out of the question.

I don't think that your inability to phrase your thoughts accurately is amusing in any way.
-
Yup, I was harsh. But I just told him what everybody else would think about his contest. You do know that encryption simply means that you cant access the game files, don't you? If the game doesn't run it's not gonna help having the unencrypted project. Cough cough, I didn't forget, I'm just lazy. >_> Besides I don't see anywhere that says the game is supposed to be made for the purpose of the contest. I'm not sure it's a good idea to have that option, it just becomes too unbalanced if some people have a whole team and some do all the work alone. I don't think there are enough people active on the forum to have a number of teams ;/

Its good to keep it simple, but the variety would add to the game's value. In reality there aren't that many types of quests you can have. Kill a boss. Kill enemies. Fetch item. Talk to npc. And the ever crucial story driver, "Go to." The only difference is in the thematic presentation of the quests, and how much detail you put into them. As long as it doesn't clash with the theme of your game, anything goes. You can't really have a "collect rainbows and hearts" quest in a post apocalyptical game. You could actually do it, but it has to make sense within the world of the story.

Any interest in mobile Game Development?
Saltome replied to Marked's topic in General Game Development
Well the poll is split right down the middle, so i think its safe to say there is as much interest in mobile games as computer and console games. -
So many things are wrong with this video...
-
Oh yeah, I'm really gonna send an original unencrypted game to some guy i don't know anything about. Starting some obscure game contest. But I guess i can give you a shoulder, download the "Battle tournament" one from my signature. It is encrypted but i don't really have an unencrypted version any more, not that i would trust you with it anyway. It was made in about a week, with stock graphics and no scripts. Feel free to consider it a submission, if not, your loss.

[DEVELOPMENT - XP] Doctor Who - The Time War RPG
Saltome replied to evil cabbage's topic in Early in Development
Evertalis is right, if you are gonna make a game after a movie/anime, you should make sure your facts are accurate, unless you are making a fictional scenario. But if you are serious about becoming a game developer you should make your own games, games based on movies tend to be bad. -

Saltome replied to Marked's topic in General Game Development
Bottom line is, I don't like playing handheld games, I don't know how to make them and I'm not interested in either. -
Well if that's all you want "Stop animation" will do. From the event options.
-
Um, just use the "Turn (direction)" command in the "Set move route" event? I guess a problem you might have is turning instantly, so you would need to put Wait commands between the Turn commands.

Saltome replied to Marked's topic in General Game Development
Agreed, who the hell said that a phone is anything to play with? I don't know whats this alleged fad with handheld games, I personally don't know anyone who plays phone games. They are bad, ugly overambitious and there is no real reason for a game that can be on a phone not to be on a computer, or heck, even a console. I have heard an argument that people tend to play phone games in the metro, and all matter of such others while going to work. However if someone is that addicted to video games that they cant stop for fifteen damn minutes they probably spend more time with their console, computer or both.
