Even if only two projects were failed does that make you feel better about the community failing to work together? Doesn't the fact that the skilled members don't even bother trying any more? Further more, each of those failures was a sign that things are getting worse. And doesn't it bother you at all that so far, out of the entire site only two people even bothered to acknowledge this topic? This isn't the first time the community shows no interest in what I want to do for them either. What's been done in the past stays in the past, it's the current members that need to make a difference for their own future. Making guests into members, especially skilled and useful members takes a long time. And there isn't anyone to teach them anyway. Also people won't stay in a place that isn't active enough. Why would you stay in a community where people don't do anything to help you? No matter how many guests you convert it's all for nothing if they leave in a week. There will always be members who are more willing to help themselves than those who need it, But they need to realize that if they don't change they are not going to survive, at least not as a community. And that's the point of this topic, to hopefully wake people up. Despite the lack of solid results I believe you that you are working hard on the website, however it's pointless without members to use it. It won't be any good if you make an awesome tool for developers when it will only be used by wannabe amateurs to host dead projects. We don't have a problem attracting attention, we have a problem retaining new members. And they won't stay until we offer them something. I don't see what we can offer them when our activity is not only bad, but reducing. And yes Ace, that's what happens when you have a website without a community, it dies. I don't want to follow the same path. Makes perfect sense to me, what kind of site are we if people are too busy helping themselves to help each other? Might as well add you on skype and never come to the site, like I've been doing. Which is all fine with me, except that the site won't survive.

Do you really want to argue with me when I am trying to save your website? If you want an example, let me just mention the "community project". That keeps failing, a 4rd year in a row. Or maybe I should mention all the "members" who only come to find people for their own websites?
-
Well guys, why are you all here? The reason I came to this community was the friendly and supportive attitude. But all I see since I joined, are a couple of people who couldn't care less about anything other than their petty little projects. There have been attempts to unite the community, everyone just want to be in charge, and nobody wants to listen. This forum is sinking, and unless we put our efforts toward a common goal it will be gone before the end of the year. Are you going to allow it?

I mean rpg in general, but I am not familiar with the d&d classes and I can't say I've been in contact with many druid-like classes. This class is indeed similar to what I would expect from a druid, but it specializes in plant skills not general nature stuff, The same way beast master classes can also be derived from druids, specializing in animal mastery. Bottom line is the same abilities can be achieved in independently by different classes, nobody said you can only have one treehugger class structure. As far as how you can develop your class goes, it's a matter of proper transitioning and class structures. To use our example of druids, sprites and beastmasters. Your options are to either specialize further, or broaden your horizons. If a sprite learns beast mastery a class change is in order, but instead of a sprite beastmaster it should become druid.

Hey guys, I was doing some research into plants for a little side project of mine. Then It crossed my mind that with all the nature freak classes, there aren't all that many that can actually call upon plants in combat. Since I don't have any particular need for such an inordinary class I decided to leave it out as a guideline for someone who may need something similar. Feel free to make any changes necessary to your lore or mechanics. Originally it was going to be a tree summoner class, but that seems too supportive, so I ended up developing a class with more powerful more damaging abilities, that revolve around using the host as a plant not so much growing plants in the midst of battle. You might say I made the Tier 2 class before the Tier 1 class, but that's how creativity goes. Neither class is finished yet, but.it's late so I have to go to sleep, and a little love would be nice. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AojwfpTEB-jqdDZ5Tlg0Wk1hYjc5VFJBYXhHWlhONXc&usp=sharing

Not right now.

Well guys, I've started a non profit organization that will support aspiring game makers in any aspect of game making. Giving them a chance to practice and prove their skill, a place to find people who are just as passionate about making games as themselves. This is where I will post updates on the actions of the organization. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Video-Game-Developers-Internet-Union/147023778796653

Well I mean, it's not fair having your character pleveled while we have to train the hard way :P

That's why you should start from level 1 like the rest of us >_>

I might be in, if someone else joins...

Bugs: There is a bug in the first mission on the stairs where you turn on the lights, you get stuck in the stairs and you can't go down, I noticed it when trying to go down again after turning the lights on, but it seems it only happens when you approach the stairs from the north tile. There seem to be more bugs with the stairs, like inproper sprite placement and being unable to go back unless you walk away from the stairs first. Impressions: Well the voiceover is a nice touch, it's not exactly professional quality, but I'm not one to complain. Also I find it a tad annoying having to draw my gun every time I want to shoot. Can't figure of a way to reequip my silent pistol. Well... that was easy... Beat the game on my first try, and I hate ammo conservation x_x I wanna boom, boom, boom, dammit! It wasn't that hard abusing the zombies pathfinding either x) But you need to at least clear the narrow places, so a no kill run would be a lot more challenging than I thought. ;/

[RMXP] The Hidden City of Arcatis (Now with difficulty levels!)
Saltome replied to Bob423's topic in Established Games
Bugs typo in the manual "Or cange what" also the manual uses lowercase I something is wrong with the name string, it's filled with a strange symbol when alt+entering the system confuses it with an actual game input. training area 4th jump should be two squares tall. second map of the training area, cathy's line has a typo, she says "you to" the bed where Bob wakes up after the fire, you can walk onto one tile of the table upon pressing F12 the game crashes with error message, "script 'tons of add-ons part 2' line 1287: systemstackerror occurred. stack level too deep when returning from the first forest area to brian's house area you are transfered a little to the right of the path. you can walk trough the log and after breaking it the sides of the broken piece become inpassible. Enemies can land a final blow after your level up has maxed your health Mayor's explanation there is a mistake, it should be "bulletin" Wooden spear's description begins with a lowercase letter On the map after defeating the mountain boss there is a place where you can freely walk off on the air If you go back to the mountain top after graduating you will trigger the scene again. after talking to the innkeeper the game crashes with a missing picture message. another missing picture crash in the skill shop. missing bgm in the skill shop. Harry's picture has a couple of places that are missing pixels, that's likely due to rm transparency. missing map 136, on the map north east of the snow city. I guess that's what I get for jumping trough impassible objects. I guess the devil was on a break tonight, went trough his gates, and it appears he picked up his whole dimension and went on vacation. Causing the map to go missing. Impressions The main protagonist seems to have the same name as the game creator, that's interesting. Fast paced gameplay, requires accuracy and speed, that leads to a steep learning curve you seem to be able to jump to and trough impassible tiles. as soon as you leave the house the protagonist figures out that the guy inside might know something. I went back to talk to Brian but he gives me the same message as before leaving, so he is infact useless. you can attack the felled log in the first forest map. enemies get to have a cheap shot on me as they are vanishing. seems to have a linear plot, the first crossroad I reach and my character tells me "you cant go there". the AI system is a nice addition, but it's rather complex, it might be too much for the kind of player that loves a simple button mashed. doesn't seem to be enough indications, like what stats grow when you level up, or what items you pick up. Sometimes monsters seem to get thrown all over the place. Abundance of save points and merchants make up for the learning curve by providing frequent saves and item. After defeating the mountain boss I was shocked to find myself dropped in the middle of an area, surrounded by enemies without even a chance to recover. I just stole a long bow from the house of a stranger and now Bob is telling me that I shouldn't go in his bedroom? It would have been unfortunate had my game ended prematurely if I didn't replace missing files manually into the folder. Ah yay, the wise and powerful wizard just said that the world is coming to an end, oh what a painful topic this is in our current time. "Next time I won't go so easy on you" famous hapless rival words. The jumping ability is certainly overpowered, you can simply jump trough certain puzzles. It seems that you can not only walk on water and air, but also on lava, without even hurting. Money are quite scarce, but then again, items are pretty cheap. A good merchant hidden away inside a cave blocked by a rock, hmm, last time I tried that the game crashed. The poison ability seems to be pretty useless, when it costs nearly thrice as much as the other base abilities, and you can spam offensive magic or tank by healing instead. -
Whahaha, genius! x3 Stop, you are making me blush.

Hello World..........or maybe not........

Hmm, entry granted, welcome. We are actually planning a news block about indie games and game development tools, are you interested in writing articles for those, or do you prefer sticking to actual stories? -
Why lack of forum awards?
Saltome replied to ShinGamix's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
Well I don't mind, but it might lack applicants, and it needs to have credibility and quality too. -

Awards for what, sitting around? To have awards you need competitions, to have competitions you need competitors, and we don't have either. -
Changing Member's Title
Saltome replied to DarthVollis's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
Well I guess it depends of your understanding of the word title. In my sense a title should be given to you by your peers, so its them who decide what the actual titles they give out are. On the other hand if you just want a cool nickname, you should be able to pick one for yourself. I'd say, separate titles from nicknames. If you have a nickname display it over your title, otherwise display the title. And then there are other possible compromises, that don't even involve making changes to the website. Like having your peer giving you a title that matches the one you want. Or even have control over a part of the title, like your peer gives you the title of Prince, but you get to choose what are you a Prince of, like Prince of Darkness, Prince of the Forest, Prince of Space, etc. -
Changing Member's Title
Saltome replied to DarthVollis's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
Actually If you ask me people shouldn't get to pick their title like that, your title is your standing in the community. It's given to you by your peers to reflect your contribution to the community, not your ego. But I don't suppose a class system wouldn't be very high on the priority list right now. -
Dragon's Ball - A minigame similiar to Blitzball
Saltome replied to Broken Messiah's topic in General Game Development
The video seems to be down. -
What can I tell you, my mom got a new laptop recently, it has windows 8. The impression I'm getting is that 1 that os is build for tablets. 2 it's not so bad, but it's very different so it will take time to get used to. 3 the os seems to be slow in general. And 4, nowadays is hard to find games that are made for anything older than vista, soo grit your teeth and live with it. And 5, rpg maker isn't exactly a professional brand, they are buggy, limited and incompatible, not that I don't use em. In short, I can't help.

Which Maker Do I use..Can't Choose Ace

Designing and producing doesn't really count Shin. xP There aren't many teams looking for some smart ass to boss them around. -
Dragon's Ball - A minigame similiar to Blitzball
Saltome replied to Broken Messiah's topic in General Game Development
The rules scroll too fast. Typo in the explanation, garuteed(this isn't an actual word is it?) There is a call showing the ball possession in the end of the rules. The game seems to be too slow. The red team striker doesn't go back when the hero advances until he is behind her back, he also phases trough her. Horo only seems to advance when passing to Theo and then shoots after recieving back the ball. I get the ball as soon as the red team claims it.(I assume that's the bug with the red team you mention) I don't seem to be able to score, even when I get Horo into the red keeper's tile. Overally the idea has potential, the character of the game is quite evident, but the gameplay is hardly functional. There are potential problems with the current design, the lack of randomness makes for a too predictable experience, it seems to promote a tugowar between the two Heroes while the rest of the team just stand in place. I'd like to see more mobility and actual control over who goes where or does what. Also it's not good to limit the abilities of the characters, if the hero is the only one who can shoot it will be enough to gang up on him to make it impossible for the other team to score. If you want to make a game like that I'd recommend you check out "Tecmo cup" for the sega genesis. I do like sport rpg so I'm interested in helping, at least with design for now. -
o.O the rmxp domain expired, the link is invalid now. You can just use the "stop animation" option for events to make lights glow, you just need a custom light graphic to fit the lamp post.
