Containers that don't teleport their contents trough time and space instantaneously, what blasphemy is this? You are breaking the very foundations of video game physics!

Hmm, a studio? So like, you are a bunch of mappers making maps for other people's projects?

Who Wants Sprites, Send me Sprite Requests
Saltome replied to albertibay's topic in Resource Showcase & Critique
Well, that's how it goes... too much work to go around. Maybe when he has time again, sometime after he graduates :P -
Hey now, i know I'm not MUCH of a spriter, but i have to say i prefer paint over all the other tools, its simple and effective, and its already installed.
-
Sigh, but the 2nd paragraph was exactly what i wanted to comment on... Loading speed... Is decent, taking into account the fact that my pc is rather slow. Bugs... a few here and there, nothing major. Design.. is simple and effective, nothing to complain about. Navigation... is rational, its hard to get lost. Load button... is a great idea, don't change a thing. I rarely use it because I usually catch all the topics before they surpass the limit. Forum structure... is nice and detailed, haven't had many problems with it. The reason I joined.... was because i had to register to make a post, I stayed because I saw its a good community. The site... is certainly based around rpg maker, might want to emphasize the other programming languages in the future. What I'm looking forward to... the project and team management system. In my opinion the world needs such a system. Overally... It has the potential and ambition to be the greatest, but it still has a ways to go.

... Physical attack is an option in rpg maker VX. Ill look into that too. I quit, this is not a battle system its a bloody animation tool, and i mean bloody! After spending two days on it i still cant figure out how the animation is supposed to affect the given bugs. Despite the fact that tankentai xp is version 2.2 and tankentai vx is 3.4b, the xp bow script works better than its vx counterpart. It's powerful but very complicated, buggy and disorganized. it's not as "customizable" as its supposed to because it conflicts with many of the scripts out there. Further more the script is discontinued as far as i know, and finding support for it will become harder and harder, as it becomes more and more outdated. Bottom line is, I recommend staying away from this script. You are better off writing your own combat system from scratch. And there are enough simpler sbs out there.
-
Its not that hard, you just have to treat it like a choice based visual novel. Some scripting helps too.
-
I'm not gonna do it soon but if you are still waiting for it when i have free time, I'll look into it.
-
Hmm, can't really say that your English is bad. But sure, I can do the proofreading for you.
-
Sounds interesting, I'm willing to help, but i have other errands to run right now, and even if i get to it, its a bit over my level so you cant expect fast results. Best to find more help.
-
Ok, no sweat.
-
Well Raj it looks like the bow animation is coded as an addon for some reason, my guess is it doesn't flip the bow sprite when an enemy uses it. I'll have a deeper look later to see if that's really the case and how to fix it. Dart, ill see what i can do about your problems too. Are you sure they really receive the state despite being missed, does it happen to just some states and how often does it happen? That could be a bug in the script.
-
Hmm, you shouldn't be afraid of a little critique, it's normal when you are learning. Anyway, i can't run the game, there are no graphics, data or scripts folder. and the game closes with Failed to load scripts message.

Okay to answer a few questions, if you have problems with the version you downloaded in this topic. I made a new topic with the newest version of GubiDs Tactical Battle system. http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/topic/9110-gubids-tactical-battle-system-version-152/?do=findComment&comment=76896 Download the system again from there, all the bugs should be fixed, and if you still have problems you can ask questions. Shin, seems you are in luck, there is already a vx version, the link is in the new topic. And I request the closing of this topic, on the grounds that its outdated and inactive.

Well, you just threw my entire world view out the window. -
Minor bugs, text sometimes goes out of the text box, cant scroll up in scroll mode, at least in the demo. Face flip doesnt work at least in the demo. Event 38 in the demo doesnt seem to do anything. Major bug, misnamed variable, crashes on slave text windows. Script UMS Line 2837 replace text.gsub! with @text.gsub!

Will Scripting Class Return?
Saltome replied to ShinGamix's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
Organizing things is always beneficial. I don't think its gonna change the learning process much, but its gonna help people find what they are looking for. I'm thinking maybe a collapsible navigational tree Shin, first you need to pick a goal, then start asking Moonpearl questions about how to do it. -
Will Scripting Class Return?

Its kinda easy to know what the student doesn't understand when you give them a task, that's the point of having tests. And no there is no way for the student to know what he needs to learn because he has never been trough it, he can only assume what he can improve. That's why you can teach, because you have been trough it and you know what needs to be learned. And no, I know the sum of what I have learned, I don't believe that's the only order of learning things. You can't really tell what's the optimal course of action until you have two different courses to compare. Yes if you force the wrong approach on someone they aren't gonna learn much, but picking the right style is also part of a teacher's job. They might have the right to choose, but that doesn't make them more qualified to make that choice. Shin, nobody said that we don't want to teach you, we are just arguing about the role of a teacher. Thought to be honest I'm not looking for people to teach at this point. So I won't enforce my methods on you, I'll let Moonpearl teach you the way he sees fit. -
It's not always good to clutter maps, especially when the point of the map is to translate a lonely empty environment. As for the car, its a wreck, i don't see how it clashes with the environment. Zombies tend to wreck cars.

Will Scripting Class Return?

I agree with you that he wont learn much from the tutorial, but he will learn the basics, its no need for a teacher until he knows those. And I'd advice against meddling in rpg maker's default scripts, jumping right in the deep waters forces you to deal with the shock of the new environment, reducing the actual amount you learn. Also I'm a good scripter, but I still have a hard time understanding what the hell were the guys at Enterbrain thinking at some places of the rpg maker scripts. I also strongly disagree that the learner knows when he needs a teacher, that's why you are a teacher because you KNOW what needs to be learned and when. -
Ew, blood, and a dead girl... I don't know who's responsible but I already want to plunge my sword in their chest...that is, if they have one. The map's okay, too dark for my taste. And medieval clothes in a modern age look out of place. The grass and trees look too bright in contrast to the rest of the map.

Will Scripting Class Return?

Well, like I said to Mark, the first thing I say to people when I teach them something is, "Go read that tutorial!. So go read the scripting tutorial in the training center, will help you understand the basics i hope. PS: Man that place really is outdated. Its like a damn ghost town. -
Uhh, no wonder people are having problems with the script, these instructions are awful. Half the names and paths are wrong. I'd be surprised if I don't have errors after installing it. Other than that, the demo looks ok. Might be best to just go to the creator, he has a youtube channel as well, and I know he won't mind helping to solve your problems.
