  1. Oh, so now MY random stuff topic became YOUR random stuff topic huh? People really need to stop making "life sim" games... One of those days someone might actually get it right, and then there won't be any point for me to make one. ...What the hell is wrong with this game? The information on this Azul character on the internet is so scarce that I can count the sentences describing him on my two hands, literally. I guess I can sum it up to, advisor/captain greedy playboy. And to be honest those are traits that I flaunt about as part of my public image. Jess, why bother? I can't say I enjoy that kind of respawn mechanic, it's not like you can do anything without your items, so it's a waste of your time, not to mention you might end up stuck because you can't get to your items. Or even worse, lose them because you died to a random encounter while trying to get to them back.
  2. Well that might be the case around here but there are quite a few people who are good at art, it's just that spritesheets and tilesets are not a well known form of it. Good artists just don't waste their time with those, and who can blame them, 2D games have been dead for years. 2D games nowadays come either from people who were making flash games in the past, or random small developers who can't afford good graphics.
  3. I know. But I can't really say I didn't try either. So let's just see where it goes.
  4. ...generators? That's hardly part of the discussion. People checking those topics would be interested in graphics not so much the script itself. Which is perfectly fine, but I had no idea people were SO desperate for graphics.
  5. Well, it was about time this happened. The idea has only been around for a year. Good luck with it.
  6. Well you didn't beg for help right off the bat, that's a good start. It's nice to have a fresh face once in a while. I am Ivan, but they call me Salty, I'm the local pervert. A guy of a thousand ideas, my expertise involves design, playtesting, writing and eventing, so for any of those you can come to me. Other not-so-expert skills are mapping, and scripting, mostly able to fix other people's mistakes but avoiding to work from scratch. And my low skills would be drawing and composing, so nothing worth mentioning there. What made you join a forum? Especially now that the golden age of forums has passed. I take it your don't have projects that made it to a playable demo stage. I'd say it's about time you do that. There aren't many newbies around, so it hasn't started yet, but I have planned a training project, where newcommers can prove or hone their skills. You and your friends are welcomed to join, check out my signature for a link to the topic. I'm curious what exactly is this idea you and your friends have, and what sort of scripts it would require?
  7. Well sure Zahraa, but a lot of adults don't think that way, that's why they are trying to spy on and enforce their physical laws to virtual space. And I do understand them as well, because actions on the internet can have physical or at the very least psychological consequences, even if you don't count legal nonsense. But it's all just a competition for supremacy. I take responsibility for my actions in virtual space and I won't let people who don't know what the internet is to tell me what I can and can't do on it. A reaction, Mark? When is the last time you've seen me react in such a manner, to anything? :P
  8. They aren't gonna torture me for flirting with an underage girl. As a matter of fact they won't even find out. I know governments do stupid things, but they are the embodiment of order, without them it's going to be complete chaos. And I would pick tyranny over anarchy any day. As a matter of fact, with your radical believes, I'm more willing to think that they would be spying on you. Not that you are any more radical than just about everybody else. Zahraa, don't worry, he's just messing with me. But don't be so naive. People get punished for their believes, and you should be careful where and how you express them. Mark, we need to talk about our deal. And no, I don't need to be punished. I need to be obeyed. x)
  9. Yeah, you are only the thousandth person to ever give me that nickname. :P Not that I mind, I may be salty but I taste like sugar. ;D And what are they gonna do, go half way across the world to put me in jail? Provide me with free food, shelter, exercise, work and entertainment for the rest of my life? Nah, I'm not worried.
  10. I agree, unfortunately there are certainly a lot of guys nowadays that are total drama queens. What I mean is, people just love to assume the worse possibility, and they end up hurt by their own assumptions when they are on the opposite end of the truth. I not only don't feel responsible for them doing that, but it irritates me that they do it to themselves. The majority of world problems wouldn't exist if people put the effort of actually understanding others.
  11. Phiona You don't have to worry about my birthday. This is a forum and the day only has 24 hours after all. Zahraa I never said it was wrong, it's just so typical for a girl, it's nice that something so small can make you happy. But I must admit I tend to be very utilitarian, so I don't really like to buy fancy things, as long as it suits my need it's good enough. And I never said that girls aren't good at anything, so why do you feel the need to correct me? :D I spend a lot of time around girls and I know how they can be, but just because they want to get the wrong idea, doesn't mean I'm obligated to pamper them. And you might be surprised at how touchy guys can be, so it's not really all that different.
  12. Umm, why? I didn't say anything bad.
  13. I was just being curious, how is that rude? And what difference does that make? Guys are just as good.
  14. Yes I would be perfectly satisfied having an operation done on me by someone who has taught themselves how it's done, over someone who paid for a piece of paper. As a matter of fact someone freshly out of school is more dangerous than someone who has actual experience. Being self taught doesn't mean you are less knowledgeable, it makes you more experienced. And it makes your knowledge better suited for the task at hand. And you shouldn't forget that not having a diploma doesn't mean you are rediscovering fire, it means that you are able to learn the things that will be practical for your future, not random stuff you will never really use. The word "mistake" is very arbitrary. There are no mistakes, just actions and consequences. The word mistake is used when a certain action causes undesired behavior, and using it only stops people from solving the problem which prevents them from exploring a whole realm of possibilities. You can learn on our own everything a school will teach you and more, if you need to. And hasn't it ever occurred to you that the person who determined something is a mistake could have been wrong? Or at the very least having a different understanding of right and wrong from you? Sure there are advantages to studying at school, but there are better ways, which ultimately makes it a waste of time. Mark, sure there is a point. Discussion is a driving force of change in any entity. And a lot of change is in order. And how many times do you plan to congratulate me for my birthday? You sure are having a lucky week tho, I must give you that much. :P Imagine that, a girl buying new clothes, eh?.. Anything sexy? Yes it really is my birthday, thanks. ...And good job on blowing out MY candles! But I guess it's to be expected of a girl to be good at blowing... Don't worry, I'm pretty sure you have a birthday sometime during the year too. You can celebrate it when it comes around. :P
  15. I'm not afraid for the future of my career, I'm worried about my present. Not much use having a diploma when there isn't enough work to accommodate educated people. Most people don't really benefit from their diploma, so it's just a big waste of time and money, if they can even graduate. Zahraa you should be happy to go to school. After school ends real life swats you in the face with a hammer. :P Cause nobody wants to invest the time to teach you about life but expect you to know more than them. And Pol, you can learn anything on your own, it's a matter of practice. And college doesn't really put you in the right situation to learn the things you need. As far as payment goes, the better work you do the more you will get paid. Bottom line is, instead of wasting all that time and money in the educational system, start a business. You will learn more, you will get a head start and you will boost the economy. That does create a bit of an oversaturation of the market, but it compensates for the fact that most companies are incapable of reaching the growth potential of the economy. And that creates it's own problems, but I digress. As far as your person is concerned you get ahead faster and that let's you get closer to your goals, whatever they might be. It's a shame not everybody can afford the investment, but if you can, do it.
  16. Hmm I guess hating on school isn't cool any more. :D Still I can't say they teach you useful information. How is History of tourism gonna help me be a better tour guide, or computer science for that matter. It doesn't really apply to doing the work you will be doing. I don't really need guidance, but I take my sweet time and nobody in college or out of it is gonna wait for you, that's why I'm there to be taught. And what pisses me off the most... I already have the basics, if I didn't I wouldn't be learning that, and they wouldn't accept me anyway, why the hell should I be paying them to teach myself? That's just not a fair deal in my opinion. And I have to say, lectures are too dragged out, they repeat the same things over and over for an hour. And if you are confused about the topic you still won't understand it at the end of the lecture. I learn in chat faster than I've learned at school, that doesn't bode well for their system. I like that scientific terminology you used there. :P And yeah, college isn't really 9-5 but having 3 lessons a day 4 hours apart doesn't really make it any better.
  17. Hmm, I feel sorry for you people. :P Having to go to school and stuff... Man, I hate school, it's just a big scam. They take your money so you can sit in a cramped room from 9 to 5 with a random guy reading irrelevant facts from a schoolbook completely oblivious to the class.
  18. Sorry, I guess I wasn't paying attention. So, what's up?
  19. What coincidence... now it's time for me to go to sleep. Not that I'm gonna do it. And no Pol, I haven't gone anywhere. This is just a random topic for random chat, as shocking that might be, coming from me. And I think the general section was the perfect place for it.
  20. Sure, what's wrong with my post? :P You really should go to sleep tho...
  21. Hello people. How is everybody doing?
  22. Well if that's how you wanna be I'm not gonna chase after you. It's not my place to teach rogue scripters about teamwork. When you are ready you will find me.
  23. Come now Moon Moon, "vow" my ass. Weren't you the one offering their help to our cute new member the other day? ;) The point is helping others learn, making the team more efficient and overally boosting it's potential. As for you, you get gratitude and fame. The chance to learn something new or find a new challenge. An opportunity to make contacts or even to do something undone.
  24. Oy. Moon. You wanna join in? We can use an experienced scripter. phiona, you will do fine, I'll go organize it now and pm you when I'm ready.
  25. Hmm, I'm subscribed to the topic, if you did I would have received an email, maybe something went wrong while posting. When you say help, do you mean joining in, or actually helping me to run the project?
